My 08 Prius with 35K made strange creaking noise when driven over bump or dip when it 's cold. The dealer have had the car for 4 days and they said the noise came from bad control arm.
View 5 RepliesI don't have any rattles, however I do have a creaking anytime the car goes over a bump, pulling up onto a driveway. Sounds like it is coming from the wall of the passenger side rear seat. Of course it does it more when it's cold. At first I thought it was the tonneau cover, but doesn't seem to be.

View 7 RepliesWe are considering getting rid of one of our Priuses for a mini S. There are a few problems with our prius that need some attention. Which is why we are pretty much just gonna unload it and get a mini. however we have a question about a noise that you can hear from the steering area when going up our driveway for example, or going around a turn out of a driveway. its a cracking/creaking noise that sounds nothing but unpleasant. Turns out the guy who we are looking at the mini from knows some about these priuses and hondas etc. and he was saying that priuses have an electronic steering component whereas minis, hondas, etc. are not electronic. He said this elderly lady had the same problem with her prius and steering creaking noises down the road from him.
View 3 RepliesI've a UK 2004 gen ii with 69000 miles on the clock. When coming to a stop and also when at a stand still if I press down the brake pedal I get a rather loud creaking sort of noise. I guess that's friction brake related as no noise with using brakes when driving. Also a high pitch squeal when driving and turning steering wheel slightly to the left that stops when you press the brake pedal.
View 19 RepliesI have a 2008 Prius with the platinum 7 yr/100K warranty. The brakes are making a creaking/clicking noise when pressed. It only happens when the car is coming to a stop. If you start the car and sit there and press the brake pedal it doesn’t make the noise. Only when the car is in motion and coming to a stop. I took it to the dealer and they said the brake lever/shaft needs to be lubricated. It is only heard on the inside of the vehicle and doesn’t seem to affect the brake performance.
They said it would not be covered under warranty since it was a lubricating job and not a mechanical problem. They said they would have to take apart the whole dash to get to that part to lubricate it. It would be covered only if the part has failed or broken. They called Toyota to approve the fix, but it was denied. It is just annoying to hear the creaking noise every time I come to a stop. I am supposed to pick up the car tomorrow since they are replacing some other items. I asked for a parts diagram of what part needs to be lubricated to see if I can get to it. I have to take part of the dash apart to install my LockPick and XM radio.
Took my 2010 with 10,250 miles to the Dealer yesterday because there is an uncomfortable "tinny" rattle heard under the car when driven over sharp bumps and dips (rough road). Almost like a loose brake shield. At oil change I made mention of this and a missing fastener and nut clip was thought responsible. This time I had a test drive with the mechanic and we verified it was on both sides having done several passes on the same road hazard. After a period of trouble shooting in the shop, a decision was made on the front struts, but none in stock. Brought it back this morning for the replacements and was found not to be the problem.
This is one of those noises you can duplicate on the road, but not easily in the shop. Have had no accidents or run overs, and the car is in perfect condition otherwise. It is not the oil door.
I am getting a terrible creaking noise when the car is cold after sitting all night . I've tried to isolate the area where the noise is coming from, but it varies from side to side. I have shot all movable parts with PB Blaster and it appears to work somewhat . I never noticed it until the cold weather. Where to look maybe engine cradle mount areas? 2010 Sonata 2.4 GLS
View 6 RepliesI have a 2004 Sebring. The A/C had been working intermittently, now not at all. When it was working, if I went over a big bump or hit a pothole, it would stop blowing cold. Now it will not blow cold through the dash vents, but the defroster still blows cold so I believe there is enough coolant. The mechanic has discouraged me from investigating saying it will be very expensive to take the car apart to diagnose.

Recently had my AC compressor assembly replaced, renewed accumulator/receiver drier, orifice tube, recharge, etc. The AC was cooling well below par after the repairs. Then is started alternately blowing hot (12 sec), cool (3 sec), etc. with a "spooky" creaking noise coming from within the middle dash during each transition (blend door?).
The mechanic charged the system again and agrees there is a refrigerant leak "somewhere" to account for the marginal cooling capability but the dye put into the system before the repair is not showing up anywhere that he can see (so far, having it checked again today). So, are these 2 separate issues? What are the steps of diagnosis and repair possibilities?
I have a 2007 Passat 2.0T and I had the following problems
1)i had heard some creaking noise when going over speed bump
2)some rattling/ creaking noise from the front dash.
3)check engine light appeared
4)gas cap warning light appeared intermittantly.
VW dealer done the following jobs.
1)2328 Verified Creaking noise from both from lwer control arm bushings As per TB 40 08 01 noise coming from both front bushings.
40205653 Wishbone mounting replace.
40172003 Lower wishbone remove + reintall
2 1K0-406-182 Rubb Mount
6 N-103-320-02 Nut
2 N-101-410-03 Bolt
4 N-107-063-01 Screw
2) 2327 Found noise coming from trim piece surrounding radio
68221900 instrument panel trim remove + reinstall.Installed anti rattle tape to trim backing and mounting surface.
3)&4) 01320021 Technical check
2324 possible loose gas cap 01320021=0.2 Performed DTC Readout
P0456 EVAP System very small leak detected. Checked fuel tank sealing several times in basic settings 71. Passes.
Inspected gas cap and adjacent seal. OK. Raised Vehicle inspected fule tank and lines. OK. Operating to specification at this time. Erased DTC's.
With all that done above, I got back my car and i am yet to see if there's any noise coming from the radio rattling and the suspension creak. What the heck did they do to my car on the item #3 #4? What is Erased DTC's and TB 40 08 01?
I have a 2003 Camry 4cylinder. On first start of the day the engine shakes a little untill it warms up and is driven for about 2 blocks. After that it is smooth. I cleaned what I could of the throttle body on the car, changed spark plugs and PCV. All that worked but cold start shake still there.
View 9 RepliesRecently got tboned on right side front of the car, damaging rt suspension...got the car back after a month in the bodyshop, after a week i noticed that everytime i hit a bump on the road i hear the springs squeaking loud, sounds like its loose , upon checking the spring i saw that the letters and number on the spring is upside down ( trd springs) could this b the reason why its making a noise cz its upside down?
View 5 RepliesJust had new full struts installed as well as rear shocks on 04 F150, supercrew. There is a noise that only happens when you hit a bump. I initially thought it was the strut boot but having those replaced, and the noise still there means it was not that. What I should look at sounds like something is loose on the front end. Had an alignment done and they said all was tight.
View 3 RepliesSince I got my Prius V, i have this noise form the suspension... when i go over a bump, or a hole... It sounds like the exhaust is hitting on something. It could be the brakes too. It does not sound like something is broken, but more like a tin sound hitting on something...
If windows are closed the ride is smooth, but when I open i keep hearing this sounds, and its driving me crazy... Is that normal for Prius V because of the different tiers?
My Accord does not have any similar sounds driving on the same road every day... actually ride with Accord is way better... Is that normal, should I go back to dealer? Car is 3000 miles only...
I have a 2005 Prius, purchased 5 months ago with 100k miles, and it currently has 106,000 miles.
The air conditioning blows cool, but not cold. When the A/C is turned on, it makes an unpleasant whining noise. I have a recording of it.
It did not make this noise 5 months ago, and the A/C output was colder then. I haven't used the A/C that much over the winter, but it's starting to warm up now and I've noticed it's not doing as well as it used to, and it isn't sounding very good either.
I get a knock noise, actually more of a crack sound, when going over a bump with front nearside wheel. It sounds like it’s coming from behind and on a level with the glove compartment. I have checked suspension and steering components (including strut top nuts) which seems good and emptied junk out of glove compartment but noise persists.

View 2 RepliesI am trying to troubleshoot a sound that I've begun to notice coming from the front of my '08 Prius. I've had this car since new, and it now has a little over 40,000 miles on it. (Please note the sound I'm referring to is not the brake pump electric "whirring" noise that happens evey so often, it's definitely something new/different.) I first noticed it maybe a year ago, but it seems to be happening progressively more often.
View 19 RepliesMy suspension has been creaking even when I get in the car. I'm not even that heavy (about 150 lbs). The ride feels the same as it has before, but I also notice squeaking when going over bumps. This mainly happens in the rear shocks. How to fix it?
