Prius (2004-09) :: P0A80 Error Codes Appeared, Still Pending

I recently replaced my engine water pump at 164,000 miles on my 2007 Prius, the car sat for 3 weeks while waiting to gather needed parts, i.e., water pump, coolant and Airlift system for adding coolant fluid. After installing the new water pump the car ran rough for 5-10 minutes upon initial crank (parked for 3-weeks). I took a 20 minute test drive around the neighborhood that evening, outside temperature around 65 degrees F, and car ran fine. SOC looked ok, bars moving between Blue and Green, everything appeared normal.

The next morning, I backed out of my driveway and the Red Triangle of Death appeared on the dash so I parked the car.

That evening I hooked up OBDII ELM327 scanner using Engine Link and picked up 2 separate P0A80 error codes, 1 of them was pending. I disconnected the Aux battery for 3-5 mins to clear the error's, Red Triangle of Death was cleared, then drove the Prius for 20 minutes with no errors or alarms. SOC seemed to be normal. OBDII ELM327 scanner showed the HV batteries were charging at same level, 16.8V and Aux battery was registering at 14.0 Volts.

The next morning, after 20 minutes of driving the Red Triangle of Death appeared, and shortly after I experienced loss of power, with sporadic engine idle and interior traction battery fan was on. Luckily I had made it to work and was able to pull into a vacant parking lot.

I did notice that around the time the Red Triangle of death came on this morning the SOC dropped quickly to 1 Purple bar and was slow to charge then shortly after came the loss of power and sporadic engine idle followed by interior battery fan.

Prius (2004-09) :: Scangauge To Throw Lots Of Pending Codes

I occasionally drill-down to check on pending codes, and my 2007 Prius likes to generate a LOT of them. Maybe pending codes don't count unless they escalate to an active code that triggers the check engine light.

Prius (2004-09) :: Code Pending P1455 With Check Engine Light

I took a one owner 2009 with 100,00 miles for a pre-inspection today. All came back in fairly good shape however the mechanic ( an independent shop ) found this error code P1455. I took the car back to the dealer & said I was interested in the car if they looked into whether the gas tank would need to be replaced. The parts manager gave my husband and I a long speech about how they checked the car before it was traded in and never found this code. He explained that the code has to appear twice for the " check engine light " to come on. He told us he would take the car for a test drive himself & put it thru another diagnostic test to see if he could get another error reading. He will be getting back to us tomorrow. The dealer also said we could discuss in writing a timeline for them to repair it if the check engine light come on & ultimately a repair is needed.

Santa Fe (CM - 2007-12) :: 2011 V6 - P0447 And P0455 Codes Popping Up On Reader

I have the 2011 Santa Fe V6 and it has the P0447 & P0455 codes popping up on my reader. I checked the pins to make sure that there is voltage getting to the solenoid, (about 11volts at the 2 pins) and it seems good. No fuel lines broken, or cap messed up, etc.

Prius (2004-09) :: Won't Go Into D Or R - No Codes Come Up

Car will not go into drive or reverse. It's almost like it's in a "limp mode." Red triangle with ! and yellow circle with ! are lit. No codes come up. If I remove the positive terminal for a few minutes (and replace it), it'll pop into drive and function as usual but the lights will come back a few minutes later. After some reading on here, I've deducted that it may be the Hybrid Inverter (probably not since it still drives and charges, correct?) or the Hybrid Coolant Pump. How do you know when either of these two items fail? I don't have any codes to go off.

Here is some other info...
2005 Prius One
New traction battery (last night)
New 12v battery (today)

Prius (2004-09) :: Triangle Of Death Came On, No Codes Detected

2005 with 123,000 miles. I have owned for a few thousand miles. Car was dealer maintained at every recommended interval. Car runs perfect.

After car sat for a week or so, I drove it and the red triangle popped up along with PROBLEM statement and take to immediately to dealer symbol. Red Triangle and other warnings repeats every once in awhile - will go a day without, and then will come on and off within a couple miles. Car continues to run fine. There are no other check engine lights. I have checked all the fluids and they are fine.

The battery charges fine, and holds the charge overnight. I have a generic code reader and there are no codes. I have read other posts, and there are always problems that seem to come with the Triangle. Gas mileage is fine as well.

Prius (2004-09) :: ABS And Brake Light Came On - No Error Codes

I have a 2005 Toyota Prius with about 150K miles on it. After work one night i hit a pothole and my ABS and BRAKE lights came on. I took it to a garage and they could t find anything wrong with it so they reset the light. It came back on about a week later (no potholdes this time) and i took it back. They hooked it up again this time it said there was an issue with the computer coding. So i took it to a Toyota dealership. They hooked it up to all their scanners and could find nothing wrong with my vehicle. They recalibrated the sensor and the light went off. Now a week later it is back on again. Brakes work fine and we get no error codes.

Prius (2004-09) :: Intermittent CEL - Codes P1116 And P1121

The P1116 and P1121 codes have shown up on my 2009 Gen II Prius about a month ago. The CEL is intermittent - it will disappear on its own within a few drive cycles to a week, only to come back again. I'm not sure what to do next - should I go ahead and replace the three-way coolant valve or water pump or both?

Of note I also hear a "push-pull" noise from the engine compartment. Sometimes it persists through an entire drive (my trips are usually short, under 30 minutes) or sometimes it will only happen upon a cold start then stop after a few minutes of driving. What the noise indicates? It sure sounds like some sort of valve or piston opening and closing. It's faint so I've "enhanced" it to make it louder.

Apparently I can't upload .wav's here, so I placed it on dropbox. And since I only have one post, I can't directly link to it. So I will post three replies in order to paste in the link.

Prius (2004-09) :: Death Triangle With Lots Of Codes Diagnosed

Upon turning on my car and driving a few feet I had the Red Triangle of Death, Yellow VSC, Yellow (!) Indicator, and check engine light and I'm trying to figure out where I should start working on the issue.

The Codes were as Follows:

P3000 (subcode 123)

C0200

C1241

C1300

C1310

C1259

A little history:

About 3 months ago I had an issue with the hybrid battery and replaced a battery cell which stopped all issues. About 2 weeks ago I replaced the coolant inverter pump and until today there has been no errors, CELs, or any negative performance.
This is a Gen II, 2007 prius with almost 200k miles.

Unfortunately I had plans that I could not reschedule and made the drive to the location and drove back. I had serious battery drain and it was almost always at 1 bar of battery, sometime reaching up to 2 bars. There is also the sound of a fan coming from the back seat, which I assume is the HV Battery fan, but it is on regardless of if I have air conditioning or not. A/C is working fine. When I returned home the battery charged almost up to full bars, but when I came to a stop the battery drained in about 10 seconds leaving me with very low power to keep moving. After that whenever I slowed down the teal arrows showing a recharge of the battery were gone and the battery seemed to refuse to recharge.

Steps taken so far:

I topped off my engine coolant in the front reservoir as it seemed a little low, but I didn't add much before it was full. The other reservoir near the engine was just about full and taking off the other cap showed coolant filled to the top.

I tested the 12v battery with my voltmeter which came back reading 12.7.

Prius (2004-09) :: Multiple EVAP Codes - Canister On Top Of Gas Tank Is Bad

I took my 2008 prius with 183,000 miles in last week to have recall work done on it. they did the following:

1. Accelerator pedal recall

2. Steering shaft recall

3. Hybrid Electric water pump recall

The following day when I start my prius my check engine light comes on so I figure it was something they did on the recall work. I do have a scangauge, and the only code that showed on it was a P1304. I took it back to dealer today, and was told that it had multiple EVAP codes, and that the canister on top of gas tank is bad, and will need to be replaced. They said it was full of gas. They asked me if I stopped fueling car when pump shut off? I told them I always go to next whole dollar. They said to always stop as soon as pump shuts off(but on some pumps they shut off like crazy when pumping gas), I told them to just clear codes, and I would get back with them if I decide to have canister changed. So far check engine light has stayed off ( dealer is about 100 miles away)

Prius (2004-09) :: CEL With Error Codes P0117 And P1150 Diagnosed

I just bought my 2006 Toyota Prius about a year ago in 2009. About a month or two ago, the check engine light came on and stayed on along with a big red triangular warning light.

I brought the vehicle into my local Toyota dealership so they can diagnose it.They told me that they had 3 or 4 different "codes" coming from the machine when getting the signals from the check engine light. All the codes were related to the cooling system. They said that they felt that there was "debris" clogging the pathway for the coolant flow throughout the engine. They had recommended a "coolant flush" for the hybrid side as well as the mechanical side.

So I had them perform the coolant flushes. After leaving the dealership that 1st time, the check engine light came back on the next day. I called the same dealership and explained it to them. They asked me to bring it in again.

SO I brought it to them a 2nd time. They diagnosed it again. They told me they came up with 2 of the SAME "codes" and 1 that was different, but ALL the codes were STILL related to the cooling system. They explained to me that something was preventing the clear flow of coolant throughout the engine. And since the thermostat was the only major obstacle, they recommended that I replace it. Well, I did. And after I left the dealership that 2nd time, I was praying that this was the last of my Prius issues !

The check engine light came back on the next day. The service person invited me back and did not charge me this time because it was the same issue. I told them that I am not in the business of randomly changing parts on my car unless I am absolutely sure I know exactly what the problem is. HOWEVER, this time they kept my vehicle for a good week or two. Running it through various diagnostics tests overnight here and there.

They finally came out and said that they feel that I have a coolant system leak coming from my engine and that I need to replace my head gasket which is responsible for sealing the engine.

During my 1st visit, the codes were P0117 and P1150

During the 2nd and 3rd visits , in addition to those, there was one additional one that came up that I will post as soon as I find it !
