I need to replace these as they are weakening. Can I get replacements at my FLAPS or are they a Toyota-only item? I'm asking because on another vehicle, I could not get the strut from a FLAPS due to the length not being a standard length with the proper connectors.

View 7 RepliesExperienced a noise from the strut when you close the hatch. I tried wd40 on the rod but it really didn't work. Not sure if its the cold weather that's causing this.

View 3 RepliesWhat is the "type" of these dual filament lights and the proper way to access /change them? Do you pull off the lense from outside the vehicle or remove the inside trim at the top of the hatch and access from the inside??
Since only 1 filament is used can I simply reverse them to the used /non burned out filament or do the bulbs have pins on there sides that prevent that (like a 1157)??
I had my friend of mine who is a mechanic change my struts out this weekend. I had clunking noises from the right strut Toyota and also a tire place said I needed new struts. So I got them replaced now both sides are clunking see the YouTube video.

View 1 RepliesI've been (for the first time) changing my struts on my 08 prius, having read a couple of threads, have manual, etc. The fronts went in fairly easily, but I noticed that when taking out the rear (left), it (the spring) was under a fair amount of compression when it "dropped" out. I was thinking, "how will it go back in once I swap out the strut?".... Also, it seems to me that the stud/spindle is in the way, making it very difficult to get the strut back in as well. I believe I have the vehicle jacked up in the same manor that Patrick Wong shows, with the 2x4 under the axle, and a 2nd jack as well. What is the trick to get this back in???
View 6 RepliesI replaced my front struts today and afterward the ABS and "(!)" light came on as soon as I turned on the car. I checked the speed sensor lines and they all look okay so I didn't damaged them in the process. The car brakes quite soft but still works and the regenerative braking still works. The mechanic pulled the following codes: C1300 and C1319. I went ahead and reset the ABS light by crossing pin 4 and 13 on the OBD2 connector technique. That reset the lights, and the brake also works as normal as well. After driving around a bit, turned off the car, then turned it back on the lights came back on again.
View 6 RepliesI have a 2003 Excursion. I shut the back hatch the other day and the window completely shattered. I bought another one from the junk yard.
My husband replaced it and everything seems to fit right and it closes down and it looks nice. Problem is now the interior lights wont shut off at all.
Running board lights are on as well. We have had to un-hook the battery to keep it from running down. Is there a sensor or something that needs to be reset?
While swapping on my winter tires yesterday, I noticed the strut boot (I believe it's called) on the passenger side has a large crack, almost split in two. See picture attached.
The Prius is a 2006 with almost 370K KM (~231K miles), and I am hoping to keep the car for another 1-2 years, until the PIP2 is out.
Is this something to be concerned about? The strut is not leaking, and the suspension seems otherwise fine.
I tried to open my rear hatch yesterday, and it was a bit sticky. I think the plastic was just weak (cold & uv exposure?)

View 9 RepliesThe hatchback on my 2005 prius wont open from the outside. It will open from the inside. It will unlock all of the doors when I lift up on the handle. I've tried looking for the actuator. Where it is located? I have the panel off of the inside of the hatchback. Wires look OK.

View 3 RepliesProblem: I left a dome light while in the airport parking lot when I went on week long trip. When I returned the 12V battery was dead.
Question: How do you get to the 12v battery in the rear of the car? Rear hatch will not open without power.Using the key to get in the drivers door, I had to get someone to crawl over the back seat and connect cables to jump start the car.
What am I missing? Is there a better way to jump start the car? Is there another way to open the rear hatch without the 12v battery power?
I have an 04 and the power door locks will not work. The hatch does lock and unlock but everything else just stares at me staring at it. When the fob or inside switches are used I can hear a relay clicking inside the Body Ecu / Fuse Box. I am thinking that is the problem as all fuses are good.
View 10 RepliesIs there a way to lock all five doors (4 passenger doors and hatch) without using the smart key OR the keyfob? See, I'm an avid backpacker, so I like to leave the SKS off when I'm going out for 5-8 nights. My keyfob is broken, however, such that the lock and unlock buttons don't work, but the smartkey does. So with the smartkey off, I can manually lock the 4 passenger doors, but the hatch is still accessible. How I can lock all five doors without using the smartkey or the keyfob?

View 1 RepliesThe rear spoiler on my 2005 has always had a bit of "flex" to it and I've always been careful not to use it to open or close the hatch. Unfortunately, I can't be sure that others not do that as it really is the place someone would think to grab to close the hatch.
Anyway, the other day I noticed that the spoiler had picked up a nasty rattle whenever the hatch was closed. Looking from the outside in I saw that there appeared to be two plastic fasteners (one on each end) that held the spoiler in place. If I pressed down on one side the other side popped up and vice versa. I was able to get the spoiler back to where it originally was (loose but no real rattle).
The car has never been in an accident and the spoiler doesn't appear to be bent in anyway...it just seems as if the fasteners aren't holding it down as tightly as they should. Is this the norm? Should I replace the fasteners and any instructions on how to do it?
This is the second year I've owned my 2007 Prius, and it seems to be getting worse.
In the summer, the hatch will open with ease! The handle recognizes my hand there and unlocks the hatch and whammo bammo we're in business. In the winter, especially the really really cold weather like we're having now (down to about 10 over night) the hatch refuses to open.
