Since I purchased my 2010 Prius about a week ago the center console top never slid completely forward. It slides to about where the cup holder insert is and stops. I've taken the cup holder out and it still stops in the same spot.
View 19 RepliesDue to the way the armrest slides back to reveal the cup holder and then tilts it is hitting my sons legs while he is sitting in the rear seats. Cant quite see the logic in the design of this as when its slid back there is like 10 cm space between the back of the armrest and the rear seat. The design on our old 2007 was much better. No slide, just tilt. I know that my 3 boys in the back will find some way to damage it while its slid back or tilted back plus I dont really want my sons legs to be cut off in a potential accident. So my question is, how to successfully modify it to stop the slide and allow it just to tilt?

View 1 RepliesThrough looking at pictures, Ive noticed RX's with different center console positions.
Some are more aft towards the Instrument console and some are more back towards the rear seats.
I can definitely go ahead with all the screws and figure how to slide it back but just making sure if there was a quick few screws to adjust and also if I CAN adjust.
Ok, I can live with little things like the drivers side pillar not being completed seated and flush, or the drivers seat rocking a little from time to time.
But the thing that annoys me the most is the center console armrest lid squeaking every time you lean against it. I drove 3 SFS's before I bought mine. All of them squeaked.
Any fix for this to stop it from squeaking? Besides going to the dealer and getting the run around.
How do you remove the armrest storage part of the center console? Ive undone the two screws by the shifter and the whole thing shakes but it doesn't come out...

This morning I opened my center console armrest to tuck the iPod cord back in, when I went to lower the armrest it only dropped about 1/5th the total amount it would need to close. I fooled with it for long enough to know If I continue to apply more pressure something is going to break. The movement it has is smooth until the point it abruptly stops. I checked the owners manual with no luck, called the dealer service center which came up empty handed as well.
View 8 RepliesI have the 60/40 seat with fold down "jump seat" that has the 2 cup holders and console. In the down position, it squeaks something fierce on any kind of a bumpy/rough surface. On paved roads it's fine.

View 1 RepliesMy 2010 II has two power sockets, one under the radio, and another inside the center console. The center console one does not work, whereas the other one does. I checked both the fuses, and even swapped the two fuses. I also checked several other fuses just to be sure. No fuses are blown and nothing changes by swapping the 2 power port fuses.
View 8 RepliesThe cigarette lighter adapter inside the center console of my 2010 Prius (next to the USB/iPod and AUX plugs) does not appear to be working, although the adapter underneath the gear shifter works fine. A few weeks ago, I found some coins, which I keep inside that center console that had gotten wedged inside the cigarette lighter adapter cavity. It was after removal of those coins that I first learned that the adapter was not working (I tried a few different devices to make sure that it was the adapter itself not working).
From reading the web, it sounds like the fix may be as simple as replacing the fuse. From what I understand, the fuse is just above the emergency parking brake. If so, where do I purchase a new fuse and how much does a new fuse cost? Also, how do I know which fuse needs replacing? Is that in the instruction manual?
Any possibility that there's an off switch that I accidentally hit?
View 1 RepliesMy 2012 Prius makes noise in cold days. After careful examination I found the noise comes from the rubbing between the joystick cover and the center console bridge cover. If I press the joystick cover with my fingers, the noise will be significantly reduced or even eliminated. So I think if I put a layer of soft material there, I may be able to eliminate the noise. How to remove the center console bridge cover? Either pictures or video will be great.

I have a 2013 Elantra GLS. I use a USB stick to listen to music. Sometimes it would reset the center console/radio if I leave the USB stick in, but this time it didn't turn back on.

I took this picture from the rear seat while leaning over the front seats. The two white arrows indicate where our front seats are rubbing the center console while we are seated. The rubbing makes a noise and will eventually leave a wear mark on the leather, the console or both. Any way to quiet the noise and to cushion the contact between the leather and the center console?
I'm looking for a product that is safe for leather that will decrease friction in this area so that the rubbing won't cause noise or leave wear marks on the leather. I'm only interested in treating the area of the seat that contacts the console so as not to change the overall appearance of the leather. Alternatively, I could treat the center console with a product that will make it more slippery.
Since I've had this car I randomly get a buzzing which I thought was coming from the centre console. It sometimes lasts 2 minutes, sometimes 15. Hunted it down last night and it sounds to be coming from the passenger side foot well. The only electrical component I can see up under there is whatever is in the photo.
View 9 RepliesI just bought a used 2012 Elantra GLS with 24K miles. I tested almost every possible function of the car before I bought it however I didn't try out the 2 power outlets expecting them to both work on a car with only 24k miles.
Anyway, the center console outlet doesn't work. I'd like to check the fuse box first thing in the morning. I work night shift so I won't be able to get to it til then. Any other things I should look for?
