I wanted to know that at the moment my prius does not automatically locks the doors when reaching above 20km/hr as its suppose to.
I went through the manual and tried to turn the power button on and pushing the gear in N and pressing the lock button but it didn't work.
How do I stop the doors from locking at 8mph on my '10 jsw? It is a total pain and I don't regularly drive in high crime areas. When I do I know how to lock the doors. 2010 JSW TDI ...
View 5 RepliesI've got a prius 2010, how do I lock the car with one of the doors (or hatchback) still open? The car just beeps at you until you close a door... And then it stops beeping, but doesn't lock. I find this to be exceedingly annoying, I'm surprised I couldn't find more than 1 other thread complaining about it. I find it annoying in two common situations:
a) I plan on locking the car with the fob, filling both of my hands full of things and pushing the door shut with my butt. I have no free hands left to find the fob in my pocket and lock the door, or walk around to the driver's side of the car to touch the lock sensor.
b) A passenger is dawdling getting all their stuff ready and plans to catch up with me in 30 seconds. I need the lock the car before I walk away.
Once in awhile, as in maybe once a month or every few thousand miles, I hear a rattling noise in the rear below the car. It is very audible and everyone in the car notice it.
This happen only when I have been in traffic for awhile during which:
1) when battery is running really low from moving at low speed
2) After which the engine is turned on to charge the battery
3) moving low speed with the engine running.
The vibrating noise increases as my speed increase, getting more audible and vibrating faster. After a certain point (maybe 30 mph) the noise stopped.
How to alter the function of the automatic door locks to change to, say, lock the doors automatically at 15mph or lock the doors when shifting from Park. What I wanna know is how do I disable this feature altogether? I don't like auto-locking doors in any instance.
View 3 RepliesThere's no beep or flashing parking lights when I lock my doors on my 2011 Prius 2 when using the remote or the door handle sensor. I still get the 2 beeps/light flashes when I unlock. The lock beep was working fine and then just stopped. The doors still lock fine with the remote or handle sensor, just no beep/flash.
View 4 RepliesI used to have other car that used to make a loud beep upon locking. My prius 2010 III is bit nimble and social. It blinks and makes a little chirp. I would rather need a loud beep so to locate and ensure my car is locked especially in noisy environments.

1) How do I set the doors to automatically lock when I leave the vehicle?
2) Also, at night when I open the driver's door, the panel on the door is NOT illuminated making it difficult to unlock the door for passengers. This is a true safety issue. How can this be fixed and NO I do not want the door unlock operation buy handle touch or remote to unlock all doors.
The website [URL] ..... is valuable BUT the separate PDF manual sections is poor since it is difficult to jump around within the whole document. Each section of the document reference pages outside the current section. There is no easy way to know what section that page is in.
I can set the V to unlock all the doors when I unlock the driver or passenger door? I see that setting on the manual on page 524:
Smart Key System: Select doors to unlock: Driver's door or All doorsClick to expand...
But it looks like on the Display Audio system, it cannot be set. Can the dealer set it instead?
At idle (car is parked, no load on the engine) the engine runs at about 650 RPM. When I tap the gas - it reacts OK. Engine quickly speeds up.
However, when I want to gently, slowly increase the engine speed - say I want to reach 1000 RPM - it will not respond until a moment when it jumps up to 2500 RPM. Then it might decrease a little, but it is almost impossible to set it at 1000 RPM. I even tried to move the gas pedal with my hand.
It is Elantra HD (2009) with stick shift.
I have a 08 corvette that allows you to walk away from the car with the fob in your pocket and the car locks without having to touch anything once the fob is a certain many feet away from the car. I like that option and I cannot figure out how to do it on my wife's 2013 RX ( or even if it will work that way)
I don't drive her car that much but it seems inconvenient to have to remember to touch the little depression area on the outside driver handle to lock the car. I know, I could just get used to it , but just walking away without having to do something seems more simple and should be an option in a car of this cost and technology.
Is it possible to program the car to lock all doors when I walk away with the fob and not having to touch anything on the car?
2013 RX350. Using either remote to lock the car, the mirrors fold and all doors except the two front lock. Not getting the normal chirp.

She has been pressing button of remote to unlock doors. She didn't even know the door can be open automatically when she insert hard into the handle. She also didn't know about the car pool green stickers, is it too late to apply? She just send in her form yesterday.

I'm pretty sure it can be done with the VAG-COM........ but I don't have one. Is there a way to just unplug the unit that produces the noise.
I recently purchased a 2006 Ford F-150 XLT and don't know very much about it, nor Fords in general. I was just wondering if there is any way to have the power doors unlock automatically when I shift into Park or turn the ignition off? It has the option to have the doors automatically lock once I reach 5-10 mph, but I can't find any information about programming it to unlock automatically. It doesn't have the programmable computer display, so everything requires pressing a bunch of buttons when the key is turned on accessory and things like that. I have kids who are always in the back seats, and it gets annoying trying to get them out of the truck when it's off and I forget to manually unlock them.
View 6 RepliesSince I got Prius I've noticed that driving at 50mph returns 80+mpg , 90+mpg if I let it gently glide at -1mph per 1 mile. As it gradually slows down, the mileage starts to decrease. By the time I get down to 45 mph the mileage shows around 70mpg,
I get down to 40mph, I'm only getting 50mpg. When I keep my speed between 40 and 45 I get about 52-55 mpg for the day. If I keep my speed between 45 and 50, I get 55-60mpg for the day.
I have 4 differnt FOBs and i get the same response from all of them. they will unlock the doors and the lights flash on the car and remote but when i try and lock with remote, the light on the remote flashes but i get nothing from the car.
View 6 RepliesMy 2008 is 4 years old now but only has 27k miles. (I'm retired.) However I am really disgusted that it has had so many serious problems. Most recently, the trunk will not open all the way. I noticed this before it went out of warranty but I assumed it just needed some WD-40. In fact I remember another poster on this forum actually making fun of another owner who complained about the trunk not opening all the way. Well, now the dealer tells me I need a whole new trunk support system for $388! I'll just live with it as long as I can stand it.
Additionally, the doors often don't lock when I push the thumb lock on the outside of the door. I've tried both doors and the trunk. Of course the dealer couldn't find anything wrong. I know I could try the key fob but I keep it zipped up inside a pocket inside my pocketbook and never fool with it - a feature I do love about the Prius. Having problem with the trunk not opening all the way?
I have a 2010 Prius IV and set the doors to all unlock when I touched the driver's door handle. Annoyingly, now when I touch the raised spot on the handle (either driver or passenger side) to lock all the doors the car does the beep but also briefly toots the horn. The horn also toots when I touch the handle to unlock.
My old 2005 Prius VI just did the beeping (which my neighbors and I can live with) but the addition of a honking horn, however brief, is pretty annoying. I can't seem to find a place to disable this unwanted feature...
What kind of mpg increase one would see if they were to increase the tire pressures from recommended (35 F/33 R psi) to max (44 F/ 42 R). Any stats of tracked?
