I used to have other car that used to make a loud beep upon locking. My prius 2010 III is bit nimble and social. It blinks and makes a little chirp. I would rather need a loud beep so to locate and ensure my car is locked especially in noisy environments.

View 13 RepliesI wanted to know that at the moment my prius does not automatically locks the doors when reaching above 20km/hr as its suppose to.
I went through the manual and tried to turn the power button on and pushing the gear in N and pressing the lock button but it didn't work.
So i think I'm loosing my mind but i could swear that when i got my Pri V it beeped and locked doors once when i would touch the door handle or remote. For some reason now it locks the doors twice and no beep on locking. It also locks the doors twice whenever i put it in drive now also. Is this normal?
View 8 RepliesI locked my 2013, and noticed there was a delay in the single beep when I locked it, Weird, went on with my day. I just tried to lock it again, and there was no beep or signal light flash. I tried my other FOB, same thing. Unlocking works just fine. I tried turning the car on and back off again, no dice.

The manual says it should be there by default so I expect that it has been turned off. If it is a short beep, I would like to have it back.

Recently, my Prius has been randomly giving me the single, long warning beep when I try to lock it by touching the handle. The car is definitely not still on, and the key is in my pocket when it happens. I've checked the doors, and none are ajar. It's not 100% consistent, but happens about 50-75% of the time. When it happens, I can lock the car with the key or keyfob - but touching the handle just gets me the long beep and no lock.

View 5 RepliesThere's no beep or flashing parking lights when I lock my doors on my 2011 Prius 2 when using the remote or the door handle sensor. I still get the 2 beeps/light flashes when I unlock. The lock beep was working fine and then just stopped. The doors still lock fine with the remote or handle sensor, just no beep/flash.
View 4 Replies2010 Passat wagon. The locking horn chirp on the Passat is way too loud. I know I can turn it off, but I was wondering, if can change horn to a chirp instead. (I think this locking horn is different from the actual horn on the car, but I'm not positive) My Touareg chirp has more of a bird chirp sound which is much more subtle that the fog horn style of the Passat. If I lock the Passat late at night it wakes up everyone in the house. Also, how do you access the horn, it sounds like it is inside the passenger front fender.
View 4 RepliesI just purchased a used 2016 Hyundai Sonata SE. Inspected the car from top to bottom upon purchasing but failed to check one thing. I have discovered the horn does not chirp upon locking (pressing fob lock button twice). The system panel shows the car has this feature and the box is checked to do so. The doors do lock and the lights do blink. The panic button when pressed on the fob also makes no sound. Again, the lights blink on the car itself when the panic button is pressed. I have researched and have came up empty.
I can not seem to locate the hood switch or sensor on the car where older models seem to be. Dealer says it is in the latch on 2016's but I am uncertain this is correct as I called several dealers and got different answers each time. They all want me to bring the vehicle in but run the risk it is not covered under warranty depending on the issue. Car has 39K miles. Horn works fine. Carfax was clean so supposedly accident free. I'm focused on the hood switch because most of my research pointed in this direction.
I recently had to have e my alarm replaced on the car and after i left the dealer i parked and locked the car and came to notice that the chirp is no longer a chirp but a high pitched very loud beep that lasts longer than the previous chirp. The odd thing is that when i activate the alarm it sounds exactly as it should. I contact the dealer and asked if they gave me the right alarm and assured me that it is right and properly installed. What is going on??
View 6 RepliesRight next to the tire pressure monitoring reset button (situated above the gas and brake pedals) there is a knob that when turned all the way right will click as if it was in an "off" position. What is this knob for? After doing a search, someone posted it is for volume control of the door locking chirp noise. Does it have any other function, or is this its real function at all? I didn't test it yet.

I took the door apart and i couldn't take the inner metal panel to inspect the lock. How to take the inner metal panel out?
