Yesterday my 2010 Prius 4 (98k miles) was normal until I switched the lights from normal to hi beam and then back again. The hi bean works but the regular headlights do not. All other lights work and there are no warning lights lit. Turn signals are normal. Could this be a circuit breaker?
View 19 RepliesI have a 2012 Gen III. The regular headlights do not seem to shut off when I exit the car. The DRL and the other setting (not sure what it is) headlights do shut off when exiting the car. Is this correct?
View 5 RepliesI have a 2010 f150 super crew, last night when leaving my baseball game I was shocked to find my running lights and my regular beam lights don't work. My high beams work fine but nothing else. I'm pretty sure the lights are an after market light, but I'm not positive since I purchased it used. I looked in manual to check for a fuse issue but I don't see anything regarding the headlights.

A couple of months ago, the passenger side low beam lamp went out. When I tapped it, the tiny bulb on top of it went back on, but not the low beam lamp. High beams were fine.
Took it to the dealer asking them to check for a short. They said there was none, it was just the bulb.
Tonight, same thing except on the driver side. Tapped it and the small bulb went on, but not the regular one.
I am finding it odd that both bulbs would burn out like that. One, maybe, but two so soon...?
I had my '03 for seven years and 112k and never had an issue with the lights. Very few issues overall with that.
Changed Alternator on my 07 Camry SE V6. Now both low beam headlights dont work. I changed bulbs,and fuses. Still nothing what could the problem be??
View 1 RepliesSearched the forums and found a similar problem for a Solara but not carolla. Have a 2009 Carolla s and the low beam headlights don't work. The high beams work, but when i dim them only the fog lights come on (if i have them enabled, which is how its set for my wife now). If i go to the parking lights mode the low beams will come on. Changed the bulbs and fuses are intact. I am wondering if it's a relay or the column switch. I have access to a multimeter, techstream, and have basic auto skills.

View 2 RepliesA friend recently replaced the alternator on my 1991 740 Volvo GL. I got a used one that was a B230FT system, although not sure what that means. I think my 740 GL model is actually a B230F? Anyways, the alternators looked different, the old one was a Denso and didn't have blades. The new one is a Bosch with blades and slightly larger than the original. My friend had to make some modifications to the connections, basically clipping off the end of one of the wires, and exposing the wire so he could connect it to the new alternatlow beam headlights are too dimor.
My car is running, but my to see anything at night so I have to use the brights. And the dash lights, clock, and radio no longer work. The radio does not have "code" on it. It doesn't turn on at all. My mechanic says we have the wrong alternator on there, that the electrical system is different. But other sources said it would work fine. Is this true? Could the wire that he stripped and connected not be fully grounded resulting in these weird electrical failures? I'm still driving the car to work, but it makes me nervous.
My 2006 Prius (Model NHW20) has a strange headlight problem. On the passenger side, the high beam light is out but the regular headlight works.
On the driver side, the high beam is working but the regular headlight is out.
I don't think it's the fuses but I'm not sure. No amount of interchanging the following fuses changes anything about the issue:
1. 10A H-LP HI RH
2. 10A H-LP HI LH
3. 15A H-LP LO RH
4. 15A H-LP LO LH
My car is fully stock, with all options available to me (cold weather package not available here). The low-beam triple-LED headlights are aimed way too low compared to all my previous cars, and where they should be. BUT high-beam is aimed properly. So if I adjust the low-beams up, my high-beams might end up lighting up the trees, not the road.
If adjust the headlights up on a fully stock car (not lowered at the front)? Are the high beams still lighting up the road fine? And if you can be specific as the number of turns on the screwdriver, it'd be good too to have an initial adjustment reference.
2012 Prius mdl 2 I notice my left low beam had gone out I went to get a replacement bulb The first one seemed dim, so I got a brighter one that wasn't much better I figure I would go to the dealer and get one of theirs I put it in and brighter, but it cast no real beam I pointed the car at a flat wall, and the right side is normal, the left side is not correct and I noticed there is a small beam pointed to the left The small bit of light that does go forward does cast a faint rectangular image on the wall and it does match where it should line up similar to the right side I cant think what has caused the beam to be all messed up No damage or stuff like that.

View 3 RepliesOk. So i left work yesterday and realized that my low beams are both out. These are new bulbs so I checked the fuse under the engine hood. It had not broken. I grabbed my volt meter and got no current DC going into the fuse. Where the relay is located? This is for a 2001 prius.

View 2 RepliesEarlier this year I did a very hard stop to avoid an accident. The stop caused the brake lights to be locked on, such was the force I applied in my 2011 car. Toyota replace the brake light switch, but since then there has been an intermittent issue that has been impossible to invoke and continues despite the brake booster having been replaced (after I made a fuss and complained to Toyota HQ).
It most often happened after I'd been driving then left the car parked for 10 minutes to an hour with the power off. I'd get in the car, depress the brake pedal and press the power button. When I did so, the brakes would become rock hard and, if the car was put into drive, would roll forward. The only way to stop the car would be to take my foot off the brakes and re-apply them.
I noticed my Hyundai steering wheel was off centre about 20 degrees to the left so I took it in for an alignment. The toe was out and the inside left front tire was worn. The alignment is now spot on and I rotated the tires putting the slightly worn to the rear. When I accelerate now the steering wheel turns to the right. If I try to straighten the steering wheel while accelerating the vehicle veers sharply to the left. Odd is while accelerating it drives straight even-though the wheel is approximately 20 deg to the right now. When I let go of the gas and maintain constant speed the wheel straightens out by itself. When I first let go of the gas the vehicle will jerk to the right even though the wheel is straightening.
After this driving is ok - no pulling and drives straight. Only during harder acceleration does the wheel turn. I've had the Sante Fe since new and this is really off now. Has 170K km (100K mi). I know it is torgue steer due to some worn part or bushing but have not been able to diagnose easily. I replaced the lower tie-rod ends. Steering feels tighter but the bad torgue steer is still there. I am inclined to replace the lower control arm vertical and horizontal bushings. Ball joints seem ok when testing with pry-bar. I brought it back to the alignment shop and they verified the alignment was ok, everything was tight and could not identify any obvious issues with the suspension or steering components.
I got a 2010 Prius. I noticed that when I turn the car OFF , the master warning sign (yellow triangle with an exclamation mark) and a message in Japanese (which I cannot read) appear for a few seconds. I don't see the warning when switching the car ON, or while driving. I experienced this frequently when switching the power OFF. Why this happens?
