Unfortunately I broke off one of the wheel studs on the front drivers side of my 2010 Prius. I got a new stud from Toyota but I'm not sure exactly how to put the new one on. Looking for any steps on how to replace a front wheel stud? Not even sure how to raise calipers/remove rotor (if that's necessary to replace stud)....
View 9 RepliesI have punched a snowbank and cracked a front side marker light as well as toasted a hubcap. I looked up the parts and ordered them from an online parts place. The hubcap was an easy fit and that is done. Now on to installing that marker light into the driver side front bumper in my 2012 Prius V III! On initial investigation I see coming at it from the top (under the hood) is almost impossible. Looking up at the bottom of the car it appears there is a removable maintenance panel just under it.
View 4 RepliesI have a 2014 Prius and I just noticed that the window on the driver's side is broken/cracked on the edge. I noticed this last night but my wife drives it mostly so I'm not sure how long it's been like that because my wife never noticed it.
View 3 RepliesMy 2005 Prius has 95k miles on it. I've been hearing a cluck-cluck-cluck noise from near the front driver side wheel. I had an independent mechanic test drive it, who said the wheel bearing needs replacement. Should I have it checked out by a Toyota dealer? They're so much more expensive, but are is it worth taking it to them?
View 15 RepliesI have a 2000 with a 5.4 and 166K miles. It had multiple exhaust manifold studs broken on both sides. Now that thay is fixed, I am getting the p1131 and p1151 codes. The EGR tube was also replaced at the time of the manifold fix. I checked over all the tubes and electrical connectors to rule out something simple but did not find anything out of place. The intake manifold was replaced with a new Napa one less than 5K miles ago as well.
Could the leaky exhaust manifolds over time set the fuel trim level high and now that they are fixed, the ECM is thinking it is running too rich? Can the ECM be reset to zero? There is also a ticking/rattling noise when you accelerate that seems to be coming from the fuel injectors. I listened with the stethescope and they are the only things that sound like the noise I hear. Could these all be related?
About 6 weeks ago I noticed a noise coming from the front driver side wheel area. We had just gotten the tire rotated and once at freeway speed it was like a squealing noise, just like when you have worn brakes. Since then the squealing noise is gone and now it's a faint (hard to describe over text) "whomp whomp" noise as if I have off-road tires. I notice it more on freeways I supposed because it's a smoother straighter surface. On a particular right bending street by our house it's louder. What it might be? Car has 36k miles.
View 8 RepliesI have a 05 Prius. Developed a low hum noise some time ago. It now is so loud can't hear the radio. Sounds like a heavy agressive truck tire rolling down the road. When turning the steering wheel from right to left quickly, noise level changes. Does this sound like a bad wheel bearing and if so what am I looking at for repair costs?
View 5 RepliesI leased a 2010 Honda Civic (non-hybrid) in March of 2010. I had to replace the front brake pads at 8K miles, 18.5K miles and now again at 27K miles. Each time, I get a screeching, grinding noise from the driver-side front wheel. At 8K, I went to a dealership (not the one where I got the car) who replaced them for free "as a courtesy" (apparently, brake pads aren't covered under the warranty). At 18.5K, I went to the dealership where I leased the car from; they said that it didn't look like the other dealer had actually performed the work (yet somehow, the screeching noise went away). They charged me $250 to replace the brake pads and buff the rotors. Now, at 27K, the screeching noise has returned. The dealership has warrantied their prior work and isn't charging me. They claim that there is nothing wrong with the braking system. When I asked them why the pads keep going after 9K miles, they said they don't know, and maybe its the way I brake. I do 80+% highway driving and while I do encounter stop and go traffic on a daily basis, I don't think this is normal.
View 6 RepliesFirst issue started a few weeks ago. When turning left at a speed > 20mph or when turning wheel quickly I get a rattling noise, which is more prominent with the driver window down, so it sounds like it comes from the driver side front wheel, but not quite sure. It is fairly loud as I have had pedestrians look at my car when turning because they can hear the rattle.
Second issue started this morning but has persisted every time since. When the car is cooling down, we get that whirring noise, which I presume is thr coolant pump. That noise also happens now when I enter the car, and it is accompanied by a knocking noise as if somebody is hitting the outside of the car repeatedly. This is quite unnerving as it sounds like something is hitting the bodywork of the car. It stops immediately when the normal whirring stops.
I had the steering and water pump recall done in november last year, could this be related to that? Forgot ti add the car has done 49000miles....
I just started hearing a ticking sound in my drivers side rear wheel. It sounds like a pebble in the tire at low speeds and as you get faster it makes loud road noise in the car, almost like a whoosh whoosh sound. Took it to a local auto shop and they said it was a stuck brake caliper and possible wheel bearing. After driving I felt each rotor and that one was considerable hotter then the others. Everything else about the car is fine, drives well with no vibrations and brakes well. Jacked the wheel up to see if the wheel was loose from a bad bearing, but it was not loose. The shop, however, can not locate a caliper saying it was on national backorder. Does this sound like a bad caliper and is it normally hard to find parts? I'm trying to avoid going to a dealer because of price, but that maybe may only option. The car has 90,000 miles.

View 5 RepliesAt about 20k on my 07 I started hearing a faint whup whup whup between 35 and 50 mph's on the front driver's side area. At 60+ pretty quiet. It has gotten real loud at the present 30K. I suspected the tirers as I know the Integrities are complete junk but as a test I did a rotation and exact same noise.
I thought thats not good but found it hard to believe something else was bad as I had no vibration and no pull whatsoever in steering. Long story short I bought a new set of tires Kumho KR21's at stock size and oh crap exact same noise.
How do you remove the rear pass side wheel studs? I have knocked them loose but there isn't enough clearance to remove them. I have removed the parking brake shoes already. Does the hub have to be pulled to do this?

As I was closing my front driver's side window this afternoon I heard a pop or bang, and I noticed the window was closed, mostly, but it didn't fit right and the top rear of the window was out of the frame, up above where it should be, and the front, sloping portion of the window was below where it should be.
I put it up and down a few times, and eventually managed to coax it back into position, but it didn't stay there when I opened and closed the window again. It feels to me like whatever connects the glass to the motor and gizmoss that lift it up and down has broken or come undone.
I fear that it is a dangerous condition, because the window might pop out completely at high speed. Unlike the last time I remember having a car with a window disconnected from its mechanism (the 60's or so), we no longer have window frames to make sure they stay in place when the machinery breaks. Also, it has always seemed to me that the car's aerodynamic shape puts pressure on the doors and glass at highway speeds.
Anyway, I'm going to get this in to the dealer as soon as possible, but I wanted to ask:
Am I paranoid not to want to drive it at speed until I get it fixed?
The driver's side coil spring broke, but here's the story.
When I found out there was a recall on my 2004, I called the dealership. They told me that they were not replacing the coils springs, they were only going to attach a brace or bracket in case the coil springs would fail.
Well, last night the coil broke and it was in the parking lot and not at 50mph on the road.
What about bracket fix? It was told to me that it would only prevent the coil from cutting into the tire, not fix it.
I am going to call Hyundai HQ this morning, but what should I expect? Is it unreasonable to expect to get a set of springs and have someone local do the work?
The driver's side front and rear has been consistently loosing 2 -3 PSI more than the other side.
Only had it for like 2 months and I don't have anything loaded like luggage in the vehicle.
Is this something I need to be concerned about?
My wife has a 13 Prius persona. There is a rattling/banging sound coming from the front end on drivers side only. Car has not been in any accident. Toyota dealer has looked at it twice. First time could not hear noise. Second, he heard it. They looked at everything and then stated that it was the ABS Brakes testing. It sounds like something is loose- that is the best way to describe the noise. It happens fairly often, too. Never happened with my 2012 Prius model two when we had it.

It had a typical double flare fitting at the caliper but at the distribution block on the other end it had a flared fitting that would be used on a industrial hydraulic unit. I took it to the NAPA store and they told me to cut the nut off the old line and put it new line and double flare it. I did and it leaks. Do I need a special fitting on the end that goes the distribution block?

View 14 RepliesSo on my girlfriends 2000 echo I get the classic bad wheel bearing noise/vibration on the front left (driver side) wheel. Worsens under load (right turn) and goes away when unloaded (left turn). I've replaced left side bearing, CV axle, brake rotors/pads and the noise still persists. My next thought is maybe the ball joint but humming/vibration tells me something out of rotational balance. Bearing in the transmission? I don't know. I'm stuck.
