Just wondering how accurate the digital gas gauge on the Prius c is? My current 04 Prius has a notoriously inaccurate gas gauge: It often gives me an incorrect reading showing much less fuel than I actually have. It is even worse in the winter.

Anyways, the reason I thought I needed to fill up was that the gas gauge was down to one bar. However I was only able to add 8.3 gallons. I thought 1 bar=1 gal but that turned out to be inaccurate.
View 18 RepliesI have a problem with my fuel gauge, after a fuel tank cleaning it stops working. I check both senders and seems to be OK, but the digital gauge is blinking and the analog gauge is down to zero. I measure the resistance value directly on the senders plugs and shows 100 ohms at the end. I check the wires between the senders and both are OK. I need to know if the car computer must be resettled after a gauge failure, or there is only a sender malfunction. I want to fix this by myself. I need a service manual or a wiring diagram to do this?
View 5 RepliesI had a 2006 Corolla S 1.8L automatic with 232,000+ miles that was taken away too early by two other cars making a sandwich out of it. It was still getting 32 -37 mpg consistently and about 370 - 390 miles per tank at least before I'd look for gas. I just replaced it with a '13 Corolla S 1.8L automatic and average out near 28 - 32 mpg (but it's winter). My issue is the readout on the gauges. I've got a 120 mile round trip for work daily (all highway). On the way home yesterday, gauge showed 1/4 tank and distance said 85 miles (enough to get home).
At about 26 miles left, yellow light came on. At gas station 19 miles left til empty (or so I thought), yellow light shut off and gas gauge went back up slightly off E. Filled her up and it only took 10.2 gallons after topping it off a couple times after the pump shut off. Distance traveled was about 320 miles on that tank so around 32 mpg. I'm o.k. with that but I thought these had the 13 gallon tank like my '06? Were there still 3 gallons in there and the sending unit may be bad or am I missing something? BTW car only has about 6600 miles on it as of right now.
Is there a digital readout gas gauge so that when I am driving down the road I can see exactly how much fuel is in the tank
View 6 RepliesI have a 2012 Buick Enclave that the fuel gauge fluctuate. It is not in sync with digital readings. When parking down hill the gauge goes to full. After driving a while the needle will move up a little. Even when on level ground it will fluctuate.

View 3 RepliesThe outside temperature is reported inaccurately by your C? I now automatically deduct 5 degrees from whatever my C tries to tell me is the temp. I may mention this at my 5,000 visit to the dealer because I'm wondering if the sensor is placed too closely to something creating warmth. But....it's definitely reading too high.

While not the most accurate of devices, so far they seem to be reading me slower than my C speedometer says. Any other C drivers noticed this? I have the standard 15" steel wheels on my Two.
View 12 RepliesI've recently purchased a 2007 Prius and have been tracking my gas mileage. I've been comparing what the computer says and what I get by dividing the miles since last fill w/ the number of gallons to fill. I always reset the computer and have always let the tank get almost empty (flashing fuel gauge). I consistantly calculate 2-4 MPG LESS than the computer reports. I talked with a friend who has a (I think) 2006 Prius and he does the same but his calculations and the computer usually within a few tenths of a MPG. I took my car into the dealer today for the accelerator pedal recall and asked them to look at the MPG. They could find nothing wrong and said that was "normal" I'm not convinced... What do the rest of you see?

View 7 RepliesNoticed a digital "shadow" to the electronic speedometer display? Below is a picture of what I'm seeing. It's not a viewpoint or reflection that goes away from a different angle. It's like there is an alignment issue or something.. I know the display image is a projection from below, to create a distant focal point. But I see this image shadow.

How can I check the accuracy of the odometer? The speedometer and my GPS disagree by 3 miles per hour. The GPS has been accurate in my last two cars. I have a lease for 15,000 miles per year.

View 5 RepliesI've done 3 oil changes since picking up my 2012 Lariat 5.0 a little over a year ago. And I've always questioned the accuracy of the oil dipstick - seemed to always read 'low'.
I just changed oil tonight (Motorcraft 5w-20 semi-synthetic), and I measured the oil that I drained out - just about right at 8 qts. I put in 7 qts and 24 oz (about 1.6 - 2 oz over the 7.7 qts that it calls for) and the oil barely reaches the low level on the dipstick.
I guess between what I drained out and my current oil level reading, my dipstick is not accurate.
Due to the timing of the regens and where I was, the last two regens have started just before I got to my destination and had to shut the truck off. First time it just got down to 90% when I shut it off, this time it hadn't even got down to 95% yet, but I heard the popping from the exhaust after I shut it off and got out. The first time, the dash said 70% when I started it back up. This time it baked it's way down to 75% after the shut off, but it did climb back to 80% rather quickly.
Anyway, this got me thinking about how accurate this meter really is. I thought after decades of the whole gas gauge thing the DEF level would be rather simple, but we all know how less than accurate the DEF level seems to be.
Does the PCM use a similar faulty countdown when figuring who full the DPF is, or is there some actual meter that is closer to accurate?
I can't imagine my truck is smart enough to correctly figure out how plugged the DPF is, yet it's too stupid to properly gauge weather I have more or less than half a tank of DEF.
I bought a 2013 XLT 4X4 wiht 5.0 V8 about 3 months ago. I reset the computer when I first bought it and it shows an average of 15.7 MPG. I have also kept records of all fuel purchased and my actual mileage is 15.2 MPG.

The digital speed display would be real useful here as the cops are sticklers in the city about the speed limit.
Will the VAG cable do it? I'm still trying to dig it up but most of our stuff is still in boxes.
My 03 Camry when the key is out of ignition the digital odometer is still on, the power windows are still usable for about a minute and the gas gauge still shows the gas level. What could this be?
