My air conditioning was recently replaced and now there is a constant clicking or creaking that sounds like from valves under my dashboard.
View 2 RepliesThe sound comes from under the dash. recently the blinkers stopped working all together so I tracked down the problem to the hazard light switch and replaced that and the blinkers are working now. However, the clicking sound remains and seems to happen more just after using the turn signal but the sound happens randomly as well.
I'm thinking it might be the turn signal assembly located on the steering column. So, I was thinking of replacing the unit (it has both signal lever and wiper/wash lever) .
The center console in my 2010 Prius III is making a constant plasticy creaking noise that is driving me insane! :crazy:
Is this common in the 2010 Prius? I can temporarily stop the noise by pressing down on the console.
I have a 2008 Prius with the platinum 7 yr/100K warranty. The brakes are making a creaking/clicking noise when pressed. It only happens when the car is coming to a stop. If you start the car and sit there and press the brake pedal it doesn’t make the noise. Only when the car is in motion and coming to a stop. I took it to the dealer and they said the brake lever/shaft needs to be lubricated. It is only heard on the inside of the vehicle and doesn’t seem to affect the brake performance.
They said it would not be covered under warranty since it was a lubricating job and not a mechanical problem. They said they would have to take apart the whole dash to get to that part to lubricate it. It would be covered only if the part has failed or broken. They called Toyota to approve the fix, but it was denied. It is just annoying to hear the creaking noise every time I come to a stop. I am supposed to pick up the car tomorrow since they are replacing some other items. I asked for a parts diagram of what part needs to be lubricated to see if I can get to it. I have to take part of the dash apart to install my LockPick and XM radio.
Tested and replaced 2 bad battery cells in my 2007 Prius... Got everything put back together and now all dash lights are on and engine won't start... When i try to shift into drive or reverse it goes directly into park... I tested the battery without removing the safety key and the inside terminals are at 220 volts and the outside terminals are at 0 volts as shown by photo... Maybe due to a fuse somewhere?
View 19 RepliesClicking in the dash while in motion. I hear clicking in the dash only while stopped (at a light, with the car running in normal driving.) As I slow, I start to hear relays clicking away behind the dash, a sort of constant clicking away in a random sequence, until I start moving again, and then it either stops or is drowned out by road noise.
View 6 RepliesI have a 2006 ford taurus that the dash started flickering about a month ago then it was fine for a couple weeks, yesterday it started flickering again, and then today it completely stopped working all gauges like car is off, check engine and battery light is on as well as oil light, car runs great regardless of cluster out or not. Air conditioning goes out when cluster goes out. I see many things on lights for the cluster but nothing for this and nothing with the a/c as well.
View 8 RepliesMy 2010 prius is making a strange sound, and has been since day one.
It makes a "Clicking" sound sometimes that can be heard inside the cabin and sounds like it is coming from the center dash. It is definitely NOT a squeaky dash or door panel or anything like that. It is definitely electrical in nature. It almost sounds like a very fast clicking relay or maybe another electrical component. It is fairly high pitched (not like the inverter whine, though) and definitely clicking (maybe buzzing), not constant. It sort of sounds like a cricket. I am working on adding some audio/video to this post, should have some up today.
Here are some things I have noticed about the noise:
1. Only happens when gas pedal is depressed, not when braking or coasting.
2. When the display is in "Eco" it happens loudest and consistently when the bar is 3/4 of the way full, but it can happen (although the clicking is slower and less consistent) at 1/2 or just before the power section of the bar.
3. The car must be "warmed up" i.e. doesn't happen right away, car must be driven for 10-15 min if engine is cool.
4. Seems to be happening more/more quickly after starting the car in the hotter weather (I purchased my car in Feb.)
I am the original owner of a 2008 Prius, and am familiar with the various noises that the car likes to make. However, a new clicking noise has started recently, and need to identify the source/cause, so I can (hopefully) repair it myself, or have it repaired cost effectively.
I have attached a pic of what I think is the source of the noise.
This pic is looking upwards under the dash, above the brake pedal. In the center of the pic is a white thingamajig. This thing is attached to a motor on the right side (to the right of what I think is a yellow bearing or washer), and the other end is attached to a darker gray arm. When the climate control makes an adjustment, the motor turns, the white plastic piece turns, and the arm moves. What appears to happen is that sometimes, the motor continues to operate when it shouldn't, and these plastic pieces all kind of move around, clicking.
I have a 1998 C class RV with the dash Air Conditioning that is shorted out, it keeps on blowing the 15A fuse when turned on to Norm A/C or Max A/C or Mix or Defrost settings on dash only.
For troubleshooting I have disconnected the engine Air Conditioning Compressor plug to verify that it isn't the fault.
I've removed & replaced the switch that controls the dash a/c to defrost settings and worked for a minute, but now continues to blow the fuse as before. I'm not ready to buy another switch for now.
Is there a common item that may contribute to fail or common wiring that I should look at. I purchased the full electrical and service manuals but haven't dived into the ohm checks of the wiring, wire by wire yet. Tight wiring areas under the dash.
Also the fan speed controller works when in VENT or FLR modes, so I don't believe that is the problem, also temperature vacuum controls work.
I started hearing a constant clicking sound coming from behind the radio (higher, towards the dashboard). The clicking is pretty loud and is present while the engine is on and when its off with the ignition on. Its also heard whether radio is on or off or the climate control is on or off. It is NOT heard from the outside with the hood up. What this could be?
View 5 RepliesI have just purchased an '01 LS and there is a constant 5 beeps from under the dash. I have read the posts regarding this and realize it could be a defective srs bulb ( which does not light up at all ) I just do not have the time to take the dash apart right now, so I would like to know if I can just disconnect the beeper and ( hopefully ) in three or four weeks get into what is causing this.

View 4 RepliesI just noticed that when I am taking a hard right turn such as getting on the freeway or exiting, I hear random clicking noises in rapid successions in random intervals. the traction control alarm also lights up when this happens. is this normal? it sounds like relays are going crazy. I have not tried left turn yet since there isn't many opportunities around.
Clicking happens under hard cornering which in turn causes TC light to come on and when still under acceleration.
When I am driving under 40mph with my AC on there is a constant knocking noise behind the dash, actually sounds like someone is back there knocking constantly. Every once in a while it will start squeaking. Its loud enough to be heard even with the radio on. Kind of embarrassing when someone else is in the car. My dealer doesn't know what it is and its driving me nuts!
View 9 RepliesI got to work this morning and had about 3.5 miles left with the EV. Tried to go home and nothing works. I could not open the door. I thought it was my remote battery so I Changed the battery and still nothing works. I get the Orange caution light on the dash and a clicking sound from the engine area . No lights come on. Nothing.
View 5 RepliesVehicle has been in the shop several times within one month( Battery test, replace accelerate idle switch, rear end replace) latest dilemma is with a constant clicking sound coming from under/ near dashboard on passenger side . No interior lights. All this occurs before I turn over the ignition. On some occasions if I enter the vehicle and don't hear the constant clicking sound. Whola, the vehicle starts every time. I disconnect the battery cable when coming in over night. 1997 112,000 miles.
View 12 RepliesThere is a constant buzzing/clicking sound that seems to be coming from my navigation in the dash. It makes the noise all the time, not just at random times. It sounds as if the nav is trying to load something constantly? It is really strange, also sounds like a computer when you first start it up with the clicking and buzzing.
View 8 RepliesOkay new sounds suck. I just noticed a strange metal creaking and clicking both when I roll to a stop and afterwards when I take off from a light. The sound is like a suspension sound but I can't put my finger on it. I did install a Neuspeed engine control arm bushing 2 weeks ago ,can that be the weak link. I'm going to get under the car tomorrow and take a look.
View 6 RepliesI have a 2010 Toyota Matrix with the 1.8L engine that has a battery drain that is causing it to click and have a hard time starting after it sits. The clicking is constant, and basically sounds like a dead battery, which it is.
Battery was taken out and tested on a bench at Pep Boys, came back 100%.
Checked my voltage at night after driving it and it was at 12.5 V, checked again in the morning and it was down to 9.6 V. I know I have a drain somewhere, and have read I may need to keep a jumper across the negative terminal to ground until the moment I hook up the multimeter to it to check for a power draw? Is this year/model known to have certain issues with parasitic drain?
I have a 2002 Hyundai Elantra GLS, and it has a constant airbag light on in the dash. I have zip-tied the connectors underneath the driver and passenger side to ensure they are not loose. I took apart the center console and unplugged, replugged the airbag module, and the connector close to the gear shift. The two fuses in the fuse panel beneath the storage compartment to the left are good. I am at a block. I can't think of anything else to check, and the shop wants $90 to diagnose the problem. I've also left the battery off overnight to see if that would kwor. Still nothing.
