I just had a Safesight micro flush mount camera installed in my Prius 2010 (purchased from Mobile Electronics). I had it installed with a manual switch so that it is either on or off according to my whim. Unfortunately, at this point, the camera seems to add to - rather than subtract from - backing up risks due to spatial distortion and pinpoint representations of objects directly in back of my car.

View 5 RepliesI just had the left front strut replaced by an independent shop. Afterwards they noticed that pressing the brakes after backing up produces a single 'clunk' sound from the front. Not sure if it's from the left or right. Also not sure if it was doing this before the repair and didn't notice, or it just started. It only happens once, although I haven't tried backing up twice in a row.
View 4 RepliesPicked up a mk6 tdi a couple weeks ago (my first vw), and yesterday my rear view camera started acting up. And by acting up I mean, the screen only displays black, and the camera is stuck open, protruding under the badge and will not close. I've checked to make sure everything is still plugged in, and it is. I'm not exactly sure what to try next?
View 3 RepliesMy backup camera seems to have all of a sudden lost its aim such that the alignment marker is higher on the right than it is on the left meaning that the edge of the bumper is higher on the right as well. It just happened all of a sudden and seems to be pointed a little to the left. Any way to adjust it or is this one for the 5K mile checkup?

View 7 RepliesThe car is under 25k miles. I have owned for less then 2 years. Recently, I notice a noise coming from the rear every time backing out the drive way. The sounds louder in the winter**. I have gone to 3 different dealers and non of them offered a remedy. Some say they cant reduplicate the issue so I scheduled a test drive with a tech. Was able to duplicate the issue, however the tech says its normal ( pad shift over time) and told me a lot of the newer carmy has the issue. I'm exhausted from going dealer to dealer and no remedy issue. They all said the same thing "its normal & there's nothing they can do".

It has started to not come on until about 10 seconds after I have placed the car in reverse and once it does turn on, the video quality is bad. I know there are issues with the RNS510 and warm up time, but I am not using the RNS510. Here is what I have:

I installed it myself many months ago and checked the wiring and all seems fine. However, I did notice that if I unplug the 4 pin harness near the camera (video feed, not the ground, power and reverse trigger) and then plug it back in, the camera then works instantly when I put the car in reverse and the video image quality returns. However, then it only works for about 3 or 4 times (individual times when I put the vehicle in reverse) and then I am back to a 10 second wait and bad video quality.
Just purchased 2010 lll w/ Nav and backup cam. Although the cam works fine it doesn't show a grid. I drove a 2008 w/ cam and that did show a grid. The salesman stated some camera's did show it and others don't.
View 5 RepliesIt seems like the rear camera has suddenly started to point down more that it used to. We have three Prius's and none of the older one are like this. The dealer tells me he hears this problem all day long and there is nothing he can do about it.

I have a Gen III Prius with 13,000 miles. It is less than a year old and I just got the Hybrid Malfunction indicator...I'm a bit upset about this and am wondering what it means. I'm not going to be able to take it into the dealership until next week, and was hoping to get some information about the indicator. It's a blurry shot but it is an exclamation mark with wavy lines below it.

The remaining issue is the mentioned A/C error code: B1498 A/C Communication malfunction (A/C inverter local)
What part this is, and the OEM part number? Where is it located in the car?
Previous owner claimed it was some error with the A/C Control unit.
I purchased my first car and I am excited its a prius. I got lucky and got it below Kelly blue book. Its a 2010 IV, love the navigation and sound system. Thee car had a few minor issues when i bought it (ABS/Slip/Horn repaired). My only other issue (very minor) is the driver side door sill. The light unfortunately does not turn on when i open the door. After realizing this i took apart door foot panel, plastic door guard and the door sill itself. Immediately after removing the door sill.
I noticed that there was a significant amount of surface rust and the led circuitry had been compromised from water and appeared to be the root cause. So i thought i could fix it by removing the led light strip and replace it with some generic 12V blue led strip lighting. My thought was that i could cut the wires from the original led and tie into the existing OEM wiring. But when i plugged it in nothing happened; i tested the led lights i bought on a 9V and it works. So then i bought a multi-meter and tested the wires and i didn't get any reading. Am i doing anything wrong? Is there a particular fuse i need to check or any other lines i need to follow?
So got this P0A93 code when I was driving on the highway about 65mph, scared to me death when big yellow warning light came on so I returned home and turn the car back on after 30 mins the code and all the warning lights were gone I checked under the hood felt the pump everything was good. I just got done 90k maintance on the car from dealer. So my question is that could be computer error or it could be water pump malfunction? On warranty manual the warranty for inverter with converter covers under 100k so dealer should be able to cover the water pump if it's broken? I driven the car today again at normal temperature and full blast AC on, then again no engine check light on and warning light no message.

Now after a couple of months it stopped working, every time i went reverse the mirrors won't angle down. What's the problem?
View 4 RepliesWeird thing yesterday, noticed a rotational tick sound coming from the right rear wheel during slow backing up with the windows down. Sounded like debris stuck between the dust shield and the rotor. Had that tinny sound. Anyway, no dealer around in the town I was at. Closest is over two hours away and not in the direction of home which was four hours away.
I was visiting friends, and decided to jack the truck up and pull the wheel off and clear whatever debris was stuck in there. Pulled the wheel and didn't see anything. Rotated the hub and could still hear the noise. I pulled the caliper next and made sure nothing was in there. There wasn't. Ok, must be in behind the disc in the parking brake shoe area and making contact with the dust shield. I pulled the caliper mount and then the rotor. Still didn't see any debris or anything foreign. What I did see was a bunch of metal filings on the inner side of the brake shoes all around the backing plate. Also a fair amount of metal filings in the drum portion of the rotor.
Rotated the hub again, and noticed the noise coming from the retaining pin cap on the rear most shoe. It was rubbing against the backside of the hub. As the hub rotated the cap spun and made noise as the spring gave way and turned. This made sense for the noise and the metal filings. The cap was still in place and the pin was not being touched yet by the back of the hub. I reassembled it all and decided the further drive home was not going cause more harm than what was already done.
Dropped off at my local dealer this morning and explained the above. The technician confirmed it as well, and ordered the a new retaining pin. Some how it got out of tolerance and caused itself to be longer than it should have. The tolerance appeared close from the front side shoe that was not rubbing.
Our 2010 Toyota Camry makes a squealing noise as we back out of our garage.Does this mean we new rear brakes?
View 15 RepliesSo I bought my car less than a month ago and it has less than 900 miles. The LED in my left front headlight shorted out all the lights on the left side of the car and fried the cabin fuse box apparently. I took it to Hyundai Monday and they had it until today (Friday).
They replaced the cabin fuse box and the whole headlight assembly. They hand me the key FOB and say here you go all set. I get into the car and go to reverse out of the spot and the camera doesn't even try to come on. Its not switching to a blank screen.. just stays on the radio.
The tech at Hyundai didn't have a clue how to fix it and I'm not leaving my car there over the weekend.
Having issue with their rear view camera not even turning on? I see a lot about blue screens, snowy pictures, ect. but that's not what I'm experiencing. I've hit the reset button on the head unit but that isn't working. Is there a way to do a hard reset on everything?
