I've noticed when going up hills where the engine is working, there is a rattle/vibration that seems to be coming from the passenger side dashboard/glovebox area. I've opened both glove boxes and made sure nothing was in it and the rattle still continues. It sounds like there is a screw loose in the plastic inside the dash that is vibrating.

View 4 RepliesI had this plastic on plastic sound on the passenger side dashboard...this started last weekend when it was cold outside and drove me crazy, I looked around and came up with this piece of foam under the hood and windshield bezel next to the hood hinge....After a few field adjustments on this piece of foam I took my truck for a test drive and its gone....for now!
View 2 RepliesBackground: I brought my R in for service last week because the AC stopped working. I ended up needing the compressor and the fans replaced. I picked my car up and drove it home with no problems. The next day I drove it I started to hear a rather loud buzzing noise that sounded like something was rattling loose from the front passenger side of the car behind the dashboard. It was loud enough to hear over the stereo while driving on the freeway.
Thinking something was wrong with the newly installed fans I brought the car back to the dealership and now they're telling me the fuel pump needs to be replaced. From what I understand, the fuel pump is in the back of the car under the rear seats and attached to the gas tank. I explained to them that I'm a bit confused because the sound is clearly coming from the front of the car but the mechanic there insists what I'm hearing is the fuel pump. Am I crazy or does what they're saying sound reasonable?
I tried looking at a couple YouTube videos that had sound of a VR6 fuel pump gone bad but the sound was nothing like what I was hearing.
I visited my dealer for something else, but I thought I'd take a chance and mentioned that my car (2010 III) had a passenger side rattle. He said that there was a TSB for that, and had a tech perform the fix. The rattle is gone. The TSB number is:

Upper/Lower Windshield/Rear Glass Tick Noise
The work consisted of the replacement of a couple of stoppers at the top of the windshield. I would not have guessed that this was the cause, but the rattle is gone (for two days, anyway).
2005 Camry SE 4cyl 5 speed stick. 126k miles bought new well maintained with a minimum of problems. In the last couple of weeks a funny type of rattle has developed in the right dash area. Sounds like a snapping noise when I go over certain types of road imperfections. Almost like a loose small light bulb socket inside hitting something. Tried it with the glove box open no change. Can't see anything wrong behind the glove box where you change the cabin filter. No recent change in any control operation or electrical issues concerning the dash area.

View 7 RepliesHave been to dealer multiple times with concerns about speaker vibration from rear passenger door and rattle when going over rough spots from same general area. They end up saying they have not heard anything and I end up feeling like I am losing my mind. Does seem to be worse some times than others. Last weekend I opened the door and tapped the area around the base speaker. Lo and behold, sounds like there is something loose in there. Seems like it is moving around freely at times and may be caught somewhere and thus quiet at other times. What might be in there? Any easy way of getting at it on my own?

View 5 RepliesI got my TSB done for dashboard rattling for the passenger side of vehicle but my rattle still exist, especially when I turn on my JBL system.
So my question is could the problem be my speakers as well? I never like bass or treble so they are on zero when I play my favorite songs, but that rattling on the speakers area in dashboard is driving me nuts, I turn off the music and that rattle sound will cease to exist.
This is an issue which I noticed last summer/Fall. It seemed to subside over the winter. The noise comes from inside the dash on the passenger side. The best description is one of a failing hard drive or dvd player skipping during a chapter. Kind of a repetitive buzz. The noise is more pronounced in the footwell than up top.
It is a b5 Variant 4motion V6 ... 110,000 miles ...
Truck-2005 F-150 XLT 5.4L - Currently when my truck reaches a speed of 45mph+ there is a methodical knocking sound that comes from the passenger side dash. This sound is on the interior and comes from the far right corner of the dashboard.(almost as if someone is tapping with there finger every other second). There is no correlation with anything else being turned on or off that affects this sound.(i.e. air) It simply happens once I reach a certain speed and is not an outside noise. When I slow back down under 45 mph the knocking subsides.

View 4 RepliesMy wife's 2011 Gti (31k miles, dsg) has developed a bad rattle vibration at idle. It goes away when you press on the gas. At first first I thought it was just a bit of plastic rattling in the wheel well or engine bay, but now I'm suspecting the engine. It's coming from the drivers side and it sounds like the 'TSI rattle' turned up to 11. It's intermittent, but worse when it's cold.
Engine mount? Chain guides going going bad? I will try to get a video of the sound today.
So today I'm out running errands. Its hot and the ac is on. I notice water is coming out from underneath the dashboard on the passenger side. I pull the floor mat and water is everywhere. Soaked!! Ok so the ac water that's supposed to drip outside and underneath the car is now dripping inside the car. I pull off all the plastic crap, glove box to see if I can tell where its coming from. Not seeing it. Also some crap must have gotten wet because my check engine light is on along with a flashing vsr off light.
View 6 RepliesWe have a 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe. Over the last year, there has been a humming noise that comes out of the front passenger side under the dashboard. This humming noise starts when the car is in motion (above say 5mph) and then lasts presumably at highway speeds but the road noise sort of block it out. When we come to a stop, the humming noise persists about 5 seconds after we come to a complete stop and then goes away. I checked the tire and it's not rubbing anything and tire pressures are even. We had the tires rotated but the noise still comes from the front passenger side. We had a wheel alignment and the noise still persists. There are no issues with steering or braking.
I think it's probably related to the strut or suspension system? Is there a pump in the area? It's been a year and we've sort of gotten used to the noise, and nothing's broken.
Recently (last three months really), I've been noticing an oscillating squeaking noise coming from the passenger side of the dashboard on my '07 LS460. I've troubleshot the problem and have it isolated to coming on only when the A/C is turned on (recirculated or outside air- doesn't matter). When the A/C is off, the sound goes away.
No other squeaking noises at all coming from anywhere else on the car.
I have a sneaking suspicion it's related to the tensioner belt connected to the Air Conditioner, but I'm honestly not sure at all.
Might this be a more relatively simple belt issue? A/C is running pretty much all the time when the car is on- wouldn't be surprised at all if we've simply worn the belt through.
I found this link outlining a similar problem, but again- I'm not entirely sure I want to go the route of the full tensioner assembly replacement if it's likely just a belt: [URL] ....
Vehicle has been in the shop several times within one month( Battery test, replace accelerate idle switch, rear end replace) latest dilemma is with a constant clicking sound coming from under/ near dashboard on passenger side . No interior lights. All this occurs before I turn over the ignition. On some occasions if I enter the vehicle and don't hear the constant clicking sound. Whola, the vehicle starts every time. I disconnect the battery cable when coming in over night. 1997 112,000 miles.
View 12 RepliesAfter 56k miles on my 2010 Type II, I suddenly started hearing a constants rattle sound that seemed to be located in the dashboard directly in front of the steering wheel. I got onto Prius Chat and researched every possible resolution, but not seemed to work UNTIL.... I saw someone had jokingly suggested squirting some WD-40 between the windshield and the windshield cowl. So, having nothing to loose, I gave that a try and... the rattle is gone! I can't explain it, but all I can tell you is my car is quiet again.

For the last week I have been hearing a ticking noise - seems to be coming from inside the dash board on the passengers side (glove compartment). The ticking noise begins when the engine starts up and stops when the engine stops, so the noise is continuous while the engine is running. The car runs well, no loss in power, nothing out of the ordinary, with the exception of the noise. I opened the hood and listen - the sound seems to come from inside the firewall.
