I've been noticing that when I need to make a hard stop, I will feel a sudden engine vibration for about 1 second as soon as it comes to a complete stop. The same feeling you might get when the RPM drops too low. It only does it for like 1 second though. I am not sure if it is the gears shifting down that is causing this. I won't feel it if I am making a gradual slow stop. Only fast sudden stops.

View 19 RepliesWhile driving up a long hill on the highway, one of the cylinders quit firing causing a bad engine vibration and check engine light. I turned around and drove home, pulled the plugs, and found the plug closest to the passenger side had bridged. I'm not sure why; it almost looked like it melted or had some sort of physical damage. This was on a 2013 Sonata Limited 2.0t with 45000 km / 28500 miles.

When I lock my 15 Sonata everything seems (sounds) fine, however when I open there is a "loud" buzz from the rear passenger door...............
View 13 RepliesI'm on my second '15 Limited Turbo. Only have 2k miles, but I've noticed an issue with acceleration. When under hard acceleration, especially in 3rd or 4th gear, around 5k RPM the engine starts hesitating. It feels like it runs out of steam. This feeling lasts through beginning of next gear, then the car picks up again. It is actually faster when applying less throttle.
What it could be? It did it since new, I took it to the dealer once, but got some stupid response that it was just rev limiter kicking in (at 5k, right), unfortunately had no time to leave it with them again/show it to them. I also thought it might just go away on it's own, plus I don't usually drive it that hard anyway...
When engaging the engine braking ( B ) function on the Prius IV, do the brake lights come on to warn the driver behind me that I'm slowing down?

View 13 RepliesI have a 2012 Hyundai Sonata SE 2.0 Turbo. I just noticed last night that when I'm idle at a drive through or just starting off, going maybe 5 mph if that, that there is what I think is an exhaust noise coming from outside the car. I don't notice this sound anytime else except when at idle maybe pressing on the brake letting the car coast through a drive through or when parking. Far from a mechanic here. I just joined to maybe find out if I should schedule service immediately for something like this or wait.
I'm worried I might have torn something on the bottom of the car because I have taken it down a normally dirt road that was covered in snow and ice and bottomed out several times. I only idled down that road, going slow enough that the speedometer didn't even register. That was at least 2 weeks ago. Last night however, I went up a small hill in a parking lot, just at idle speed and heard a scrape, so bottomed out again. Didn't hear anything until about 1 hour after I got home when I went outside to move my car for the plow guy.
It's strange because today I didn't hear it when I started up the car, but only heard it when I went through the Dunkin Donuts drive through. I had my foot on the brake and the engine idling and it sounded like exhaust or the mufflers or something. Could it be that maybe water and snow got in something on the underneath of my car, and the exhaust is trying to "spit" it out?.
My 79 Lincoln Town Car vibrates in the front end during hard braking and braking from more than 30-35mph. There is no vibration in the rear, during turning or felt in the wheel. Is this wheel bearings, rotors, steering linkage, tire belts slipping or suspension? She has four wheel disc with early version of anti lock on rear. Brake fluid level is good with no leakage. Tires are near new but sat for long time parked in garage.

Had an occasion, a few months ago, to brake quite hard (to avoid hitting a bird in the road--yeah, I know...) and felt a clattering vibration/noise in my brake pedal. It's happened a few times since then. Is this a problem that needs to be looked at or a normal reaction to quick, hard braking? (Braking noise in 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan)

View 4 RepliesAfter a couple thousand miles I have this intermittent vibration in what feels like the rear end being I can't feel anything in the wheel. It vibrates for a few seconds, goes away. Then vibrates for a few seconds and goes away. But even that timing isn't consistent. It could be good for a minute, then go back to every 3 seconds.
I'm way too busy to bring the car in so 2k later during the first oil change, I get the typical "dealer can't replicate". I was expecting it after I told them I do 75-80mph and they replied with "Well we can't drive that fast".
They make another appointment to have it in so they can start it cold (keep in mind I already told them it doesn't matter if it's cold as they tried to spew some BS about how the tires might have developed a flat spot overnight...) and I get a 2.0 Sport to use for the day and it does the same thing!
For anyone asking if it's the roads, it's not. My commute is 45 miles, 40 miles on the freeway at 75-80mph and half of that is on brand new concrete. I know, the new concrete could be bad but my 2011 GLS didn't do it! My wife's 2003 Saturn Ion 1 doesn't do it. My 2005 Impala didn't do it! So here I sit with a brand new Sonata that I love except for this vibration and I can't find anything online.
I bought 2015 Sonata SE, it was produced in April of 2015. It drives nice and overall its OK but it has an excessive vibration that gives me a headache. When stopped at light/traffic with AC on it feels as if I was sitting in a vibrating massage chair. The steering wheel and seat vibrates. When I shut off AC it vibrates less but still seems to be vibrating too much. I know that 4 cylinder will vibrate some but I did not expect getting a massage while sitting in the car. It does not vibrate while driving, just in idle.
I am so unhappy with it that I am ready to trade cars with my DH who drives 10 year old Accord with manual transmission that vibrates less than my brand new car. What do I do? I will be taking it to the dealer but would like to go prepared and educated. I did see some posts about ECU and TSU updates (whatever that means) but it seems that it applied to cars manufactured in 2014?
I get a pretty severe vibration from the front suspension when braking. Here's what's been replaced:
Rotors
Brake pads
Steering coupler
Where do I go next? LCA/ball joints? Tie rods?
So about 5 months ago I started feeling vibrations in my seat and steering wheel. I got my tires road force balanced and it solved the issue. I just got back from a weeks long vacation in Maine. Before I left I had the tires road force balanced again to ensure a smooth ride up. I left some shaking in my seat so I wanted to get it ironed out.
While driving up my seat and the entire cabin shook when I exceeded 70 MPH, it got worse and worse the faster I went. The steering wheel didn't shake at all. I figured the tech balancing the tires did a bad job so I visited the BJ's in Portland. They re-balanced all my tires, I was present when the job was being done and noticed they were all out of balance.
The BJ's tech said it look like the shop that did the balancing over balanced each wheel (too much weight on each wheel). As soon as I hit the highway the same thing happened, shaking above 70MPH. At this point I determined it was probably a bent wheel. I visited a local wheel repair shop, they checked out both my rear wheels, since the steering wheel wasn't shaking I didn't bother checking the front ones.
It turns out both rear wheels are ever so slightly bent, they attempted the straighten out the more bent one. They tech repairing the wheel said he was surprised I even felt anything at all. So I had my hopes up that the problem would be fixed but as soon as I hit the road the same shaking returned. At this point, what's wrong with my car. I'm thinking of buying 4 new wheels, the car came from the factory with low profile 18 inch wheels which have been a curse.
A few more details about my car:
Toyo Proxes 4 Plus - Ultra high performance tires (Maybe contribute to harsh ride?) 20K miles on them
Installed thicker 20mm rear sway bar 6 months ago (But I never had shaking until now)
Installed front tower strut bar 6 months ago.
Total mileage 32K
I have hit lots of pot holes the past 2 winters lost 2 OEM tires and bent 1 wheel last year which was repaired.
Also I can't drive through it, the shaking doesn't stop with more speed it only gets worse. And the back end has started to feel squirrely over bumps.
2016 2.4 limited. the trunk takes a lot of force to close....
View 9 Replies2015 6.7L Super Duty ... I bought this truck 74,000 miles and almost two years ago. About 6 months ago it developed a vibration and a very hard shaking of the steering wheel when (so far) turning to the left. First began when, from a dead stop at a red light, I turned left onto an uphill I-41 on-ramp. Scared the crap out of me and I had to pull over to a dead stop to get it to stop. Happened several times but only on this ramp. Local Ford dealer checked it out 2 oil changes ago and couldn't find anything wrong. Now, 2 weeks ago it did it on the highway at 65 mph on a slow, 80-ish degree and downhill turn on a 4 lane highway in Milwaukee. Again had to almost stop for the wildly shaking steering wheel to return to 'normal.' Am taking truck back to same dealer this Wednesday for it's next oil change and they will check it out again. I pull a 37 foot, 15K pound 5th wheeler and don't need to lose control at 70 mph!!!!!
View 6 RepliesI drive a 16 sonata sport with 2300 miles. Dealer says it is normal but at 80+ mph, there are vibrations that can be felt in the steering wheel and seats. At low speeds car is smooth but starts to shake at 80+.
View 13 RepliesWill overfilling transmission fluid cause hard shifts? I used ~4.3 quarts to refill. How much should I drain out? My check engine light came on.
Basically, I am having hard shifts from 2-3 and 3-4 in tip mode and auto. more tip mode tho.
-I did a complete solenoid change b/c of cold start problem with n92 solenoid.
Fixed the cold start shifting out of first.
-Did a trans fluid change with Mercon V ATF Fluid works fine.
-Just changed oil on 4th of July last week.
Yesterday my check engine light came on. It's been about 500 miles since the solenoid change/trans fluid change, and 100 miles since the oil change.
Now my Mk4 is having this obnoxious shifting. I am thinking I possibly added too much trans fluid into my system as I do not have the VAGcom tool.
I drained out (bone dry drain till no more dripping from check/drain plug), roughly 4 quarts. I added 4.3 give or take 0.1 quarts back into the car.
Now I'm worried because everywhere I'm reading says anywhere from as little as 2.1 quarts to 3.5 quarts.
Should I drain out 0.5 quarts (because I know theres over 4 in there now) to make it 3.5 quarts?
Or should I just redrain the whole thing and start by measure one quart at a time?
I've driven 32k miles now, and I'm having an acceleration problem. It does not happen everyday, maybe once a month. but once I start accelerating hard to merge onto highway, it shifts down and rpm goes up but the speed remains the same.
