Since a couple of days whenever I turn the T-reg on even in bright sunshine the lights come on (for night driving and the DRL goes off) when the light switch is in the "AUTO" position. I can turn the lights off by placing the light switch in the "OFF" position and then the DRL lights up (correctly).

View 5 RepliesI had read that the auto leveling only works when you first turn on the lights. But, I have caught mine doing it in traffic. When I come to a stop behind a car, a second after the front end bounces back, I notice the beams dip down half of an inch, on the car in front of me. I have seen this a few times. Seems the auto level feature is always at work. Is this new for 2012?
View 5 RepliesI have a 3rd gen Prius (registered in late 2009, but technically a 2010 model), with European "Premium" package including HID low beams and LED daytime running lights. The car has "auto" setting for lights, so I think it should be able to automatically turn on low beams in dark. At least dashboard lighting and the touch & go screen automatically dim, so there must be a sensor (the black dot in last photo, I think).
The problem is that low beams are always on (except in "parking lights only" mode). There is no difference between "auto" and "headlights on" setting. My guess is that this is because of the Nordic legislation requiring headlights being always turned on before 2010 (after 2010 daytime running lights were required/permitted in EU). Whether this behaviour can be changed through OBD programming? It really bothers me to run HIDs on daytime, because in the end all the extra energy is coming from fuel, and also because they have limited lifetime (and probably expensive to replace).
Just got a 2014 Prius Three. All my precious cars (non-Prius) had an automatic on headlight system, noticed the Prius doesn't. Can I just replace the turn signal lever with one that has the 'auto' feature? Could it possibly be that simple?
View 2 RepliesI have an 07 Camry LE and I bought a Kensun H11 HID slim ballast kit they worked great for a while but I had one go out on the passenger side, the ballast stopped working so I bought another kit and replaced both sides with brand new bulbs and ballasts so I would know they both would work as they are supposed to This worked for a while then suddenly the drivers side light is no longer as bright as the passenger side I tried replacing the bulb with a spare new one I had and still same light output I know overlap makes the passenger side look brighter but even against the wall they're different
You can see in the pics how one is a nice bright light with the cutoff and the other looks more like a reflection of the light I still have stock projectors by the way and I know I still need to do the squirrel spotters but not yet sure of best way to do it
The stock headlights on my 02' Elantra GLS Automatic were not bright enough, I could barely see anything at night. So in December I put in Silverstar 55w bulbs. In May the passenger side bulb died. I warranty replaced the bulb. The same bulb died again last week. I replaced it again with the same bulbs. Is it possibly my car can only handle 35W bulbs, or wiring issues, or faulty fuse? Not sure whats going on.

View 5 RepliesI have a 2006 Sonata, last night I was driving and when using my high beam headlights they would stay bright and then dim then brighten up again. The battery has not been replaced since I have had this car, but I didn't know if it could be the battery, alternator or maybe the headlights? They work fine on regular beam, no dimming on this setting.

View 3 RepliesI had a new windshield installed and the first time it rained, my auto unlock,the tire pressure monitor and the auto headlights stopped working. The dealer said that the fuse box got wet. I have since fixed the leak but can't find a fuse or reset any where.
View 3 RepliesI have a customer that brought this in when he was pulled over by the police. The brake lights burn bright when turning on the headlights. When I unplug the the wiring harness at the left rear the right tail lamp lights up as regular tail lights the left turns off. The voltage at harness when tail light on is 10 wher as the voltage when the brake lights are on is 8.65.
View 1 RepliesI bought an '08 Elantra in October and I notice whenever I am driving on surface streets at night people are constantly flashing their lights at me as if I have my brights on. I don't. At first I thought it might be a coincidence and maybe they were trying to warn me about cops or something, but it happens way too often. On a 10-15 minute drive I get flashed 4-6 times on average.
I've started paying more attention to my headlights since I've realize they might have an issue and at first I thought they might just be too bright, but I do notice that I can see into the back of peoples' cars much more clearly than I can when I'm in other peoples' cars.
As far as I know they're stock headlights. Were they too bright or did they just need to have their angle adjusted? How hard is it to do that and is it expensive?
My headlights are blinding other motorist an I can't figure out how to adjust them...
View 6 RepliesI just bought a 2010 Santa Fe with 52,000 miles. The car looks great and runs fine once warmed up. Problem came after I got it home. I have found that it shifts rough when first started for about 5 miles. After that it runs great. From a quick search I have found 2 TSB's that may apply, 10-AT-006 and 11-AT-011-2.

View 3 RepliesI noticed the second night driving our new Touareg that the compass light flickered from dim to bright and back. A few minutes after the display went completely off. Haven't noticed it since but I have seen a few posts that suggest they turn off after 30 sec. and can be adjusted with VagCom. I called VWoA and they had no info on it yet. The other issue was the engine cover that was on the demo Touareg with identical options other than the color, is not on our new vehicle. Our vehicle we bought was delivered the night of our demo ride, so it is a late build...small center rear head rest...etc. When I questioned the dealer they said the engine cover was discontinued recently and is not installed anymore. I wish it was there, looks clean. Other than that my second vehicle is an '04 Jeep Grand Cherokee and I love to drive the VW over the Jeep. They did an excellent job on it.
View 17 Repliesso on my way home the interior lights started to dim then out of no where the abs and traction light came on as soon as i pulled up to my house the headlights started to flicker radio shut off gauges flickered off and climatronic shut off now the cars dead would this be the alternator? Car is vf stage 2 supercharged....
View 22 RepliesWhen the sun is fairly low but bright on the horizon and in front of the windshield there are thousands of tiny specks visible in the windshield that are fairly evenly distributed. They are very small and almost look metallic and appear to be within the safety glass laminate. It is very annoying even when using the sun visor and restricts visibility noticeably.
We have the same thing with our 2006 Prius with approx 80,000 miles and our 2010 Prius has about 30,000 miles. At first I thought it might be some pitting on the surface of the windshield due to road or dust debris but the glass appears to be perfectly smooth. No matter how well I clean the windshield these small specks still appear. I have researched this a bit and have seen quite a few reports from others with this phenomenon especially with GM and BMW vehicles even with new vehicles or new windshields. The most likely thing I have found so far is that it is caused by a metal flake put between the glass lamination to reduce glare.
I have a 2010 Corolla LE w/ about 90k miles. I took it to work. parked. Went back to car. Engine cranks. Won't start. Lights are bright. Radio on. Jumped it and it started up no problem. Took it and got a brand new battery. turned car on and it worked with no problems. took it home. next day went to work. started w/ no problem. After work, started with no problem.
NEXT DAY... Engine cranks again....won't start. Tried to jump it again but NOTHING.
(also, just want to mention there is no history or indication that this was gonna happen. no jumpy starts...no shaking...nothing.)
Someone came out and checked: alternator, battery, starter, everything checks out good and working.
Spark plugs: GOOD but no spark...thought it might be crank sensor. Tried to change that out, still won't start.
In the midst of all this my key was acting up. finally it broke out of the lock part....the actual key separated (not broke) from the alarm part. i went to go make a duplicate w/ the key part and tried the duplicate key and it still won't start. do these things have a chip in them that activates the crank sensor? I've been w/o my car for about a week and i feel as though it's right in front of me.
