So it was relatively cold this morning, but I've had my treg since Feb, so not colder than it's ever been. I pull out of my garage and head to the gym, coasting at low speeds (35mph roads, etc.).
Out of the blue, i hear a single chime (same as seatbelt chime) and at the bottom of the MFI I see what looks like a snowflake and 39* (where * = degrees) flashing. After about 30 seconds it stops flashing and goes away.
I just noticed my first door ding on my T-reg! since it is black it really seems to stand out.? There is no point of impact but there is a scuffing of the paint.
View 7 RepliesI bought a used Toyota Prius last winter and when the weather became hot I tried to use my AC and it worked well for a while before the Ac light FLASHING and then the AC doesn't work but the fan still working and the air became hot more than the outside temperature !! And that only happen when the weather temperature is 30c or over !! So I took it an AC tech and he told me he couldn't do anything to it because it's a hybrid car and it uses 600W Ac, so I took it to the Toyota dealer and they looked at it and they didn't know what is the exact problem so they told me I need to change the clutch relay and if it didn't work then I need to change the Magnetic Clutch.

As the car accelerates, the mirror "temp & compass" begin to flash all sorts of digits and then goes blank. Mirror is plugged in properly.
Is there a temp probe somewhere under the hood that could be loose and starts to move upon driving? It works fine when not in motion.
I am at work and dont have access to my manual. I was driving into work today and the outside temp gauge dropped from 40 to 39 then chimed and flashed as if to say "he it dropped below 40 outside" then it showed a little snowflake picture next to the temp. I have only had the car since summer-so why was it telling me it dropped to 39?

View 6 RepliesI have a 2000 F-150 5.4 SC 4x4 XLT. It has the overhead temperature and direction display. It has started flashing randomly. I don't know how to describe it, but I have a couple videos. Sometimes it doesn't illuminate at all for a while. What is messed up to cause this and could excessive water splashing cause it. It started after going down my driveway which ha water running deep in both tracks the whole 1/2 mile.

Okay so I just peaked 100k and (of course) my 6.0 has an issue. I was driving along when suddenly my Transmission Temp gauge dropped to nothing, the tow haul began flashing and my check engine light came on. My transmission hard shifted and wouldn't shift up from 3rd. I let the truck sit for a few days, no leaking was observed and no blown lines. I added 4qts of tranny fluid and went to take it for a spin. The truck did fine for about 20 minutes and the same issue occurred. I parked it and checked the dip stick and it was full. What could the issue be.
View 5 RepliesThe AC blows very cold as long as the outside temp is 88-87 and cooler. As soon as it goes over 89 or so, the air rapidly warms eventually blowing what feels like air HOTTER than the outside ambient. No matter if i shut it down or blow warm air it will not restart until the temperature outside drops below the magic mark (so i dont think the coil is freezing over)... and then it blows frigid air. I don't think it is low refrigerant because of the efficiency at cooler temps and the nearly exact outside temp it changes. It is as if a sensor is activated and nothing but a temperature drop changes its status. It is so predictable that to me it sounds like a sensor or kill switch that is activated. One fan was out. had it replaced and still have the problem. This has been going on all summer and VW stamps everything "could not replicate". 2004 touareg vs 80k miles (with plenty of troubles along the way)....
View 4 RepliesAs temperature in Michigan has dropped I am noting that my oil temp is running very low; after 8 miles in the morning, it doesn't come off the peg, and with outside temps in the 30's, does not climb above 180. My erratic mileage seems to have deteriorated with that, and the subtle rumble I noted in the first 4,000 miles seems to becoming more pronounced.
As much as I love this vehicle, I'm starting to regret the purchase. After 8 years of a flawless Tahoe and 3 years with a flawless 528i, the Touareg is frustrating me.
The outside temp gauge on my '05 Treg has never read correctly. It reads approx. +5 degrees F. throughout the range. Can this be recalibrated, by Vag-Com or otherwise, or is it a faulty sensor, needing the dealer's attention? Where is the sensor, anyhow?

I have two 2010 tourages (Work at a bulletproofing company down here in Mexico) and on the first one, we just finished the little light keeps blinking. I took it to get scanned and it shows no errors.. yet the light keeps blinking and it's telling me AFS inoperable.
I tried replacing both head lights with the headlights of the other Touareg but it still keeps blinking...
First a fender bender (partially my fault and partially my wife's) damaged my rear bumper. Then I got this door ding even though I parked in the widest spot in the parking lot! It must have come from the rear door of an SUV because the ding is above the crease line and right below my driver's side rear window.
I took it to a pop-a-ding place and they said to get to the ding they have to drill a hole in the door frame, and even then they might not be able to reach it. I don't want any unnecessary holes in my door frame, especially when it might not fix the problem. A body shop will probably want to repaint the whole rear panel and that will be expensive.
I have a 2005 Touareg V8 with air suspension. Over the past few months, I've noticed a ticking noise from the within the muffler. The dealer says "it normal". It's in the shop now because the oil gauge is inop and a ticking noise is coming from the engine. I only have 23K miles on the vehicle.
View 2 RepliesWithin 160 miles of having the 40k service performed on our 2004 V6 Treg, the alternator light came on, then almost immediately the CEL light came on and engine temp skyrocketed. Immediately pulled over and shut car off. Found that serpentine belt had broken, but showed no signs of deterioration (dealer agrees with that observation). Now for the worst - at least one, possibly both heads have warped. VW says too bad, belt is normal wear item, need new engine at my expense.

Its starting to get cold over here in va but I notice the temp gauge wasn't moving when warming truck up. After sitting for 25min it was still at 150 degrees. So I drove home about 10 mi away an when I got home it had just started to move up. This can't be normal.
View 2 RepliesI experienced abnormal behaviour of the xenons (I think).I thought that when all lights were off (no DRL's or what so ever), and I flash the high beams (pull the left lever towards me and release) that I'd see the halogens only and no xenons, but apparently the xenons are flashing as well.
I know there's a mechanism in front of the xenon bulbs that covers the normal xenon beam partly for the normal lights, and gives you the full beam when high beams are on (the thing called "Bi-Xenon").
But I thought the xenons are not supposed to come on just for flashing if the normal lights are not already on, because the lighting of a xenon bulb is not fast enough.
Having overhead blue compass and clock start unexpectedly flashing on and off? Its like a strobe effect. Mine does that occasionally. What that may be?
View 3 RepliesOkay so recently I was driving my 2000 Jetta and the coolant temp light came flashing on, when I went to check the coolant I was surprised to discover that it was like a mud brown color, almost looks like peanut butter. From everything I have read this can be from a few things, either rust build up that is gunking everything up and oil getting into the coolant somehow. I'm pretty sure its rust build up but I was wondering what everyone thinks about this, I was also not using G12 coolant which I'm told now is the premier brand for VW's.
