I have a 2005 Touareg V8 with air suspension. Over the past few months, I've noticed a ticking noise from the within the muffler. The dealer says "it normal". It's in the shop now because the oil gauge is inop and a ticking noise is coming from the engine. I only have 23K miles on the vehicle.

Salvage Flood Title, looks like engine been replaced. (Not so proud of him).
Anyway, vehicle seems to run and drive fine, however, failed emissions test.
P0125 Code pops up, Temp Gauge is not working, pegs all the way hot after truck is running, changed out Both ECT's in front of engine, one is right beside the other, I guess one goes to PCM and other to Gauge.
Now Gauge is reading all the way cold, let run for over 30 minutes and still shows nothing on Gauge...
The outside temp gauge on my '05 Treg has never read correctly. It reads approx. +5 degrees F. throughout the range. Can this be recalibrated, by Vag-Com or otherwise, or is it a faulty sensor, needing the dealer's attention? Where is the sensor, anyhow?

Its starting to get cold over here in va but I notice the temp gauge wasn't moving when warming truck up. After sitting for 25min it was still at 150 degrees. So I drove home about 10 mi away an when I got home it had just started to move up. This can't be normal.
View 2 RepliesYou know the ticking noise that is normal for our engines? Well, below 25 degrees F, it is the most worst noise ever. It sounds like the valve train is going to explode. Just keep in mind I've driven many cars. The ticking noise shouldn't be outrageously loud.
But my main problem that is worrying me is this WHOMP-WHOMP-WHOMP noise. The higher the RPM the faster the noise. Doesn't matter if the car is moving or not and I know it's coming from the engine. I hope it's not related to the loud ticking. It only happens for approximately 5 minutes. After that, there's no WHOMP sound and the ticking goes back to normal sound levels.
This started just today. I have a strange ticking noise coming from right behind my gauge cluster. The frequency of the ticking is tied directly to my speed. It begins when I drive off and slows to a stop when I stop (almost like a "baseball card in a bicycle spoke" sound, but just not as loud). What this might be? Could it have something to do with the speedometer? Odometer?

For example, if I'm at a dead stop and kinda hit the gas (for a good throttle response) my wife and I both hear a ticking noise that is making me wonder if something is wrong or heading that way....

Not really sure how this happens, I'd figure that if the xducer was trash it would ride all the way high or all the way low. What's happening here? I'd sure like a functional gauge...
View 6 RepliesI have a 2004 Grand Prix and it is displaying the symptoms of overheating but the temp gauge is not going above normal operating temp. I replaced the thermostat twice, and after driving for about 10-20 mins coolant comes out of the overflow. I'm at a loss, I'm thinking temp sensor(?) But I don't want to keep throwing unnecessary money into it. The fans work fine, the heater blows as it should.
View 8 RepliesI have a 2012 Crew cab Silverado 5.3 V8 with the towing package. When I pull my travel trailer (approx. 5000 lbs), the water temp stays 1/2 guage and the tranny temp is 170-190, however, on steep hills the water temp guage goes 2/3 to 3/4 guage for a short time and the tranny temp reaches 200-210 degrees. Is the elevated water and tranny temps okay or should I try to reduce them back to the normal range. What is the max temp I should keep the tranny at?
View 9 RepliesI believe I have a spark plug issue although I am assured that they have been replaced in enough time to not have a problem. I'm am having acceleration issues, losing power over time, misfires and engine deceleration. I also now have a rattle that sounds like it is coming from my muffler only upon acceleration. It seems to be getting louder over time as well. This coupled with a rough idle and an over heated engine when the ac was on its cause for worry. Could the rattle be connected?
View 1 RepliesPurchased 2011 3 weeks ago. Due to not paying attention, put gas in diesel. Had tank dropped and drained but after reassembly, fuel gauge inop. When turn ignition switch on, get normal sweep of all dash gauges but fuel gauge does not read. 2nd tech says sender okay, must be gauge. Dealer ssays if it sweeps, it isn't the gauge. 011 F250 6.7L.....

View 4 RepliesI have a 1992 SC Coupe I was just given for free from my Cousin. It has 92, 000 miles on it. The car looks in great shape, it drives smooth. But in the front under the hood there is a loud engine noise almost like there is no muffler on the car, you acutally hear it loud inside th car also. But the sound is in the front. After about 15 min of warming up the car the sound is gone. A freind suggested there could be a crack in the manifold.

Also I noticed that the back seat vibrates a lot with any tiny imperfection on the road while the front seat you barely feel any vibration on rough roads. Is it only my car?
View 2 RepliesI have a prius c 2 2012 and we just got about 8-9 inches of snow and after driving in the storm to work when I start up my prius or step on the gas to merge onto say a highway I have a small rattle noise in the rear/ muffler area under the car. My dad says it could just be build up of snow and ice under the car.

View 2 RepliesI recently purchased an 03 GLX wagon 4 motion from a dealer as is. It had 84,000 on it when I got it and needed a timing belt. The work was performed by a VW dealer and all has been well until today. I was on the highway, had been working the car pretty well for about an hour and i noticed that the temp gauge which is at 190 religiously is now dropped down as low as 120- 130.
I continued to drive, thinking maybe just a bad sensor/gauge considering I had no check engine light yet. I still have good heat but when I got home I noticed that the coolant reservoir was bubbling pretty fierce. Couldn't tell if it was boiling or if it was compression coming back in from perhaps a head gasket failure.
I was driving home and suddenly the underside of my car *popped* and it sounded like my muffler came loose. Very loud exhaust/turbo whistle.
Luckily I was very close to home and was able to pull in when it completely fell off and started dragging on the street. What part of my exhaust is this and what should I do to repair it?
I just finished fixing a ton of stuff on her and now she does this ?
