All electronics on my steering wheel (cruise control, radio functions, menu scrolling) no longer work. Dealer says I need a new steering wheel, how to resolve this problem?
View 7 RepliesI have a 10' F150 and the radio has frozen. It will turn on but only displays the compass, Ext Temp, and time. All three of those items flash every two to three seconds. The controls in the steering wheel and dashboard no longer work (volume, seek, media, voice control...).
Things I've tried that haven't worked:
1. Turning the radio off and on
2. Restarting the truck
3. Pulling any fuses associated with the radio in the sub fuse box not sure of the technical name).
Since the day I purchased my Touareg, the heated steering wheel has worked inconsistently (usually not at all). I bought it in November of 2003 and thoughout the winter I brought it in 5 times telling them that it would not turn on when I started the truck. Of course, having an early VIN truck I don't have the symbol that tells me the wheel is supposed to be heating, so I have to guess... But with below freezing temps, I turn the truck on, push the button and nothing happens. After 5 minutes I push the button again and still nothing happens. Every time I took the truck in, the dealer told me there were fault codes in the truck saying that the heater was stopping because of a lack of required voltage. Several electrical fixes later (some parts blew out at various times and were replaced), it seemed to work. Then Spring came and it won't turn on until fall when it gets cold again... This past fall, I reported the problem again and they put several updates and fixes into the truck but they have not been able to fix the problem.
Today, I went back into the dealership and they told me this was "normal"... The note they put in was as follows:"Tested steering wheel heater in GFF. Steering wheel heater is not failing. Customer will only be able to tell if the heated wheel is working on really cold days. Steering wheel only heats up to 77 degrees."
When it works, there's no mistaking that it's on and it does shut off when it reaches a warm temperature. But when it's 25 degrees out and it doesn't warm the wheel - it seems to me that it's broken... Have such a hard time telling when their heated wheel is working?
I have the Winter Package on my Treg and when I can get the heated steering wheel feature to work it's awesome. My problem is that it doesn't ALWAYS seem to work... Sometimes when I push the button, nothing happens. Other times, it turns on and off on demand. The salesman suggested that it might only work when the heated seats are on but that doesn't seem to make it work either.

View 6 RepliesI recently upgraded from the CD radio to the nav radio and just noticed a problem. My center console speaker (under the windshield) no longer work. All the other speakers work properly.
View 1 RepliesLast night I filled up my gas tank and got back in the car, started it up and the top section of the computer screen on the dash that displays the radio information/volume, etc was off. The steering wheel volume controls no longer work either. However, the cruise control on the other side works as well as the rest of the computer to the left of the speedometer. The radio also works just fine as well. What the problem is? Is it something that I could have somehow turned off and can turn right back on (hopefully)?
View 7 RepliesMy W12 Steering wheel seems to no longer adjust in the up/down range when I use the button on the side of the steering column. It does move in/out. Is there a way to reinitialize or calibrate the steering wheel.
View 1 RepliesMost will agree it would be nice if the steering wheel controls were brighter. There has to be a tech out there that knows where the light source comes from. ( Its not magic.) If its a bulb,can a brighter one be installed??

However, even after removing the center nut I still cannot get the steering wheel out. I have tired pulling it hard and tapping it lightly but no success.
How to get the steering wheel to come out at this point?
Having, apparently not uncommon problem of a misaligned steering wheel -- i.e., when the wheel is horizontal, the car drives left? Two dealers have told me that there is no alignment problem (and have given me the BS "crown of the road" explanation). Perhaps this is not an alignment issue, but there's no question that the wheel must be slightly turned to get the car to drive straight, which is at best a major annoyance.
View 5 RepliesThe right side of my (2011 level II) steering wheel has five buttons: Trip, Dist, air recirc, temp +/-. All but Trip and Dist are duplicates of nice big buttons on the climate console, so are rather redundant.
View 7 RepliesMy V10 has the wood steering wheel, and the button to turn heat on and off. I have not been able to get this feature to work. On questioning the dealer they said that this option was not offered in Australia. It seems unlikely to me that a manufacturer would make two types of wood wheel as the production run would be more expensive than just one.
View 3 RepliesThe Vent/defrost/front/rear buttons on the steering wheel quit working so I replaced them, still not working, so I replaced the Clock spring, still not working. The controls on the touch screen works fine its just the steering wheel buttons that don't work.
View 3 RepliesI use my touch screen a lot on my prius. When I do use my steering wheel controls for the radio it won't change from station settings 1-2-3. But it will change stations on station settings 1-2-3. Is it possible to use the steering wheel controls to go through all of the radio stations? This might allow me to stop using my touch screen controls so much.
View 8 RepliesMy 05 has a problem with the recirculate and defrost buttons on the wheel. The recirculate button will sometimes toggle the MFD between the consumption screen and the energy monitor screen like the info button does and won't change the recirculate light on the dash at all. Sometimes it will do nothing, and other times it works normal changing from outside air to recirculate. Also the defrost button will sometimes turn on the windshield defroster with 1 push then turn on the rear defroster with a second push and both will go off on the 3rd push.
Other times both defrost buttons will do nothing or work normally. When the wheel buttons are acting up the MFD will control both the recirculate and defrost functions normally so I don't think the MFD is the problem. The 12 volt battery has been checked and is good at 12.4 volts and there is no malfunction lights or codes set in the system. All the other buttons on the wheel function normally. What to check?
Owner of a brand new '13 Prius C Two. No "Entune" system, just the basic radio. I connect my iPhone 5 via Bluetooth; it works wonderfully. I can still use the handset controls to make phone calls; I have speed dials set up, and using my iPhone 5 as a phone in the car works great.
What stopped working this morning: skipping tracks using either the "Seek" button on the Prius radio itself as well as the controls on the steering wheel. Volume controls on the radio itself AND on the steering wheel work just fine for adjusting the volume.
The "Pause/Play" button on the Prius radio does work, but only after about :04 seconds or so. A song or podcast will play; the steering wheel controls for skipping tracks does not work; same with the Seek button on the radio itself; and pressing the pause/play button works, but not immediately after depressing it. Takes a few seconds.The only way to skip ahead/backward is on the iPhone itself.
For the almost 2 months I've owned the Prius C, this is the first time this has happened. Connecting audio via Bluetooth has "just worked" every single day. What's perplexing about this is that I've changed nothing on the iPhone overnight. The Seek button on the Prius radio worked fine yesterday, as did the steering wheel controls not even 24 hours ago.
The Seek button on the radio itself does work with the radio and a CD. Same with the steering wheel controls; as long as I'm not trying to control the iPhone, it works fine.
I replaced my Entune unit on my 2013 Persona with a Pioneer Avic Z150BH, best decision I ever made. I expected to lose steering wheel controls for the radio and hands free, but I did not expect to lose the steering wheel controls for my climate control and multi function display. I can no longer use the Disp, Trip, and climate control buttons now.

I recently bought a leather steering wheel (with airbag and MFSW harness) which came off from a 2010 MK VI Golf TDI
My goal is to have a leather steering wheel (having the Steering wheel buttons function correctly can come later) so i am not upgrading the control module at this time....so......
I did the swap... (so i pulled the stock SW and airbag out....installed the TDI SW and airbag with the MFSW harness that came with it) all lights are off (after driving it and turning the steering wheel all the way left/right) but the horn is not working....
I'm also getting an airbag fault which I'm guessing may be coming from the steering wheel sensor since nothing else is working on the steering wheel. Maybe a wiring harness or something?
