Lately I have been driving in the Sport Mode more often. I have noticed that when accelerating from a stop it revs to just below the redline before shifitng, is this normal?
I also notice that when slowing down or coming to a stop, it has a "hurky jurky" feel. As if it was downshifiting way to early. is this normal?
Is it recommended to completely stop the Touareg before shifing from the Sport mode to the Normal driving mode?
View 4 RepliesHear a vibration kind of noise coming from the engine when accelerating in 4-6 gear at a lower RPM? It ONLY seems to happen in sport mode with the soundakator on. Normal mode it doesn't. I thought maybe flutter but I'm not flooring it in low RPM/high gear... even just halfway throttle.
I should say I have a JB1 and K&N drop-in installed.
I'm having a ton of fun driving in Sport transmission mode. One thing I'm noticing though is pretty rough downshifting from 3-2-1 sometimes. Often I hear and feel a clunk.
So I'm wondering if the transmission may not be adapted to me yet, since I've only had the car for 5 weeks, or could I be looking at an issue. No lights or warnings on the dash.
Also wondering if there is a way to "reset" the learning algorithm of the transmission without the VAGCOM?
I was trailing the other day in "sport" mode and the tranny kept going into 6th gear. Is the only way to lock out 6th is to use tiptronic mode?
View 6 Replies2001 F150 5.4 v8 ... In the past few months my truck has been a bit strange, but in the past few weeks it's gotten to the point I'm nervous to drive it. Usually when shifting around 30-35, the engine revs up and stops accelerating and I have to take my foot off the pedal to make it return to normal. It doesn't do this after I do that, but the past time I tried to drive I couldn't get above 35 and the rpm was in the upper 2000s going at a constant 35. When I stop for any reason such as making a turn, when it shifts it lurches forward and I hear a loud clunk.
Naturally, I've checked all the fluids and fuses and they're all fine. The mechanic I regularly visit insists that nothing is wrong with it.
I would prefer to drive my treg in sport mode on the air suspension because I find that I get slightly better cornering, etc. However, there are about 8 speed bumps in my normal "to gym and to work" morning drive and 5 on the way home. Some are the big wide new-style speed bumps. Some are the little narrow hard bumps. I usually leave the sus in comfort or auto because of this. Is it "bad" for the suspension to take speed bumps at a fairly good clip with the air suspension? Worse when it's tightened up for sport mode??

Starting out from stop it seemed to get noisy and was very late shifting to 2nd. Slowed down and tried again; this time it did not want to shift to 2nd at all. Brought it home slowly.
Trans fluid was right up. I did another road test, running it manually through the gears so I could easily hear and feels the shifting. 1-2-D-OD perfect; did this twice of thrice. Starting out from stop on the highway a couple times, it shifted up perfectly. I did some kick-downs and manual shifting; everything is working fine.
Could this have been a linkage problem? Could running it manually through all the gears smarted up the linkage or something? Could it be related to the 'modulator valve'?
I know some of us drag race our cars from time to time. I have a fair bit of bolt ons and I was just wondering what I would run so I had her out 3x yesterday. Impressed with my trap speed of almost 100mph on an 85-degree day w a stock intercooler but not my times, so much so that I don't even want to say them.
I was shifting a little after redline as quick as possible and leaving at like 3000-4000 rpm.
Is my clutch slipping or where am I going wrong?
the suspension is mostly stock as are mounts. I am sure I will get better with practice but this was a really sticky track so I really cant blame my tires
anyway to set it up so it always starts in S or S+ mode so I don't have to always remember to do it.

View 10 RepliesI described about 3 weeks ago this loud metal sound coming from the exhaust with any revs above 4k at stop or on the road. The car sounds like a Z06 Vette with out the cats on-it is really a loud disheartening sound. The VW stealership replaced the whole exhaust but the sound is still there. Where I should direct them to look??
View 6 RepliesI test drove a Skoda Yeti 1.8TSI 4x4 DSG and noticed when driving at full acceleration while shifting through 1 to 2 it goes into the red, past the redline.
Then I decided to test it in my Tiguan 2.0TSI 4Motion 6-speed auto and it went past the redline into the red before it changed.
Now because it happened in 2 vw-group cars with 2 different transmissions it makes me think it is normal.

So i noticed, when in auto mode, whether sport mode is on or off, it does the same thing. If i floor it from a stand still, the transmission takes noticeably longer to go from 1st into 2nd then from 2nd to 3rd, 3rd to 4th, etc. 1st to 2nd takes like a good second, kinda like this:
1st VROOOOM.....................2nd VROOOM..3rd VROOOM..4th.....etc..
If I drive it in manual mode, then it shifts just as fast. So this only happens in auto.
For some reason the wipers only work while moving. At a complete stop, slow, fast, intermittent and the wipe mode do not work. If moving forward all functions operate per the owners manual. The rear works perfect.

View 8 RepliesAre the mounts on the engine not tight enough? It feels rather strange. My dad's Ford Explorer doesn't do that. I feel like I'm driving a car with a manual transmission that needs to have dogbone bushings and mounts upgraded. How do I bring this to dealership's attention without appear like a complete loony? They like to give the "Could not duplicate" response when there is an obvious symptom.

On multiple occasions, when accelerating out of a slow rolling stop, the car bogs down and almost dies.....until I let off the pedal and gradually ease back on it. I was nearly rear ended recently as a result of the acceleration hesitation. It's almost as if the engine shuts down and is starved of fuel.
