When I turn my AC to max. power (fan) the steering wheel and the entire dash board starts shaking and vibrating. Also one can hear a "deep" humming noise which seems to be coming form the fan/fans belt etc.
View 9 RepliesI recently purchased a low mileage 2002 SC 430. The steering will starts vibrating at about 65 MPH, and it lessens, or even quits vibrating at about 80. I am not sure if it is the tires needing balancing, or the current set of tires not being particularly good. I think the tire brand is Rotalla, or something very similar. I would like, when it is time to put a new set of tires on the car, to get some non run flat tires (I am not sure whether the current set are run flats or not), as I read on this forum that the ride is much better on non run flats. However, I do not have a spare in the trunk. Are the small, temporary spares easy to come by? Does Lexus sell them and how much? Is there any other alternative to consider as I do not particularly want to get a flat when driving in the country without a spare.
View 10 RepliesLately my 2007 GX470's steering wheel has a shaking/vibrating problem whenever I apply the brake at speed above 50 mph or so. Without braking or with braking at slower speed, there is no problem at all -- everything is glass smooth.
1. I assume the front brake rotor is warped?
2. Will I need to change the rotor or is there a way to fix the warp (it that's the problem) without changing the rotor?
3. Approximate part & labor cost?
I plan to bring to dealer for a check up but would like to know ahead of time what to expect.
I have had a wobbly wheel since I can remember, it starts at about 55. I have replaced the front tires, struts and mounts, new rotors, brakes and I cant seem to figure it out. The front end is tight and the cv axle boot is still intact and I have never seen one go out without ripping the boot. If I lift the car up the front left tire hops a bit so thats the culprit but I cant seem to narrow it down anymore. I think its the cv axle but it seems weird considering the boot isn't torn.

View 4 RepliesI have 2010 f150 when I turn my steering wheel all the way in one direction and I press the gas from a dead stop like at a stop sign it makes sound like metal rubbing together slit vibration with shaking(like the back wheels having a hard time keeping up) from the back end. i took it to a shop they look at it. They took apart the transfer case and re-lubed what was in side told me it should go away in a couple of days. I live in winter climate when it's below freezing it works no problem without any sounds.
View 1 RepliesOn my V6 2004 (just hit 120,000 kms, just changed the oils 2 weeks ago) I was driving on the hiway yesterday, when the whole vehicle started shaking and vibrating - engine light blinked a few times, then stayed ON solid.
I could reduce the shaking by letting go on the throttle pedal, so I stopped and checked, nothing obvious, oil level good etc. I could hear some sort of clunking noise when engine was revved up.
Steering wheel that squeaks or creaks when you turn it? It's not very loud but getting annoying...

View 2 RepliesMy 04 V8 didn't come with the manual when I bought it. I found a document online showing that the 2004 only needed service/oil change every 10K but I wanted to double check that as it seemed a lot of miles to be between services, and I'm at 14,990 miles right now so if I need a 15K service I need to get it scheduled.
Also, how do I turn on the heated steering wheel thing? Just for the "cool" factor I want to test it out but I can't find the control anywhere for it. I'm assuming my car has it since it has the pass through ski bag.
Got in my Treg turned key an nothing happened. Thought that somehow battery was dead. Hooked up jumpers to treg and touched both ends on the other side and had mean sparks!! Checked lights and lights are bright. Checked alarm and alarm is loud. Turn key and none of the gauges register. Starter does not turn over. Can't get car out of gear. Wheel is locked. Can get key out. Thought it was key fob and used spare. Same result. Bottom line, plenty of juice in battery, but starter will not turn over, won't come out of gear, and steering wheel is locked.
View 10 RepliesLat week I dropped my '04 V6 Touareg off at my dealer for some minor warranty work. On the way to the dealer, I noticed a weird noise and vibration whenever I turned the steering wheel. I mentioned this to the dealer when I dropped the car off. They called me later saying that there was a leak in the steering rack and the whole thing needed to be replaced. The car wasn't safe to drive, so they would provide a rental.
Today, I get a call saying that the steering rack finally came in, but that upon installing it they noticed that something connectet to the steering or front suspension (I can't remember what it was, tie rod perhaps?) was bent, probably from hitting a pot hole, and that therefore the replacement would not be covered by warranty. Needless to say, this will not be cheap.
I do not take my Touareg off road, and I don't remember hitting any pot hole so hard that it could have bent something. My questions are:
- Is this a known or common problem/issue with Touaregs?
- Could hitting a pot hole or something a long time ago cause a leak many months later?
I have a problem with my VW Touareg 05 plate. When I turn the steering wheel full lock left or right in tight places the car shudders. It doesn't do it all the time but does appear to be getting worse as time goes on. I have been told that it may well be the Stepper motor.

View 14 RepliesIs it only me having this annoying problem that above 100km/h the steering wheel starts vibrating - sometimes less, sometimes more. I had the vehicle taken to the Dealership several times where the guys first tried to balance and adjust the wheels and afterwords they changed all 4 tyres (KUMHO) + one rim but still the vibration (sometimes resembles mild shaking like driving on rough roads) is there. Don't know if this is normal or I am just too demanding but can't remember experiencing such thing with my previous cars like audi, citroen, etc...
View 33 RepliesSo what is the deal with this whole steering wheel vibrating over 70mph? I have new balanced tires and the alignment has been done already. The steering wheel has a very annoying mild shake over 70mph on the highway. When I went back to the tire shop I saw the guy rebalance all 4 tires correctly. They told me to look into getting all alignment done. The car has 123,000 miles and had the 2 front struts replaced at 83,000 miles.

View 4 RepliesI have about 26k miles on a 2012 prius v 5. Recently I noticed that the vehicle produces vibrations. You can feel it in the steering wheel, but also notice it with head rests and visors vibrating. This can occur by going as slow as 25 or 30 mph. The other issue is that when going over pumps the shocks feel soft and the rear of the vehicle jumps one way or the other. I still have the factory tires with lots of wear remaining. I had this issue in a Jeep years ago and it was the faulty sway bars. My understanding is that Prius v's only have front sway bars.
View 3 RepliesI am feeling a vibrating in the steering wheel in my SUV, particularly at high speeds (the highway). I just had front brakes replaced a month or so ago. But the tires I have were new a year and a half ago, I think. Is the vibrating a tell tale sign that I need new tires? Or is it something else? Could I rotate them and get more miles out of them?
View 5 RepliesSlightly into my drive, my car begins to vibrate in what feels like the front end as well as in the steering wheel. At first it started when I was at high speeds on the highway but now it happens as lower speeds (like 40 mph). It does not happen at a specific speed only (so I don't believe it is a balance issue). Also, it doesn't happen all the time...sometimes it only lasts 5 minutes and sometimes it lasts longer. My tires are fairly new and recently checked for uneven wear, I've had an alignment and balance done so now I'm confused about the difference between issues with the following parts: struts, tire rods, rotors, or CV joints.
