Touareg :: Tire Pressure Fault Light Keeps Coming On

Aug 31, 2004

Had some after market wheels installed and need to reprogram the tire stem valves as the tire pressure "Fault Light" keeps coming on. The dealer wants to charge per tire to do this!!! What is the VAG code to reprogram the stem valves?

Touareg :: V6 - Tire Pressure Monitoring System Fault

I am having a problem with my V6 early VIn Egg tire pressure monitoring system fault. I received the error so I checked the tire pressure on all tires. They were at the recommended levels. I therefore took it in for service and they had to replace the control unit. After picking it up from service, I received the error again. I took it back to service and they tried resetting the control unit. Well as expected, I received the error again. Currently, my egg is back in the shop as they are trying to resolve this problem. I also decided to have them fix the remote range since it's in the shop.

Touareg :: Tire Pressure Monitoring System Fault

I just purchased a V8 Touareg PPS and after about 100 miles, I received the message: "Tire Pressure Monitoring System Fault" in the MFI. Even though the error didn't indicate low pressure, I checked the tire pressures anyway with a digital tire pressure gauge and since they were just slightly off the recommended pressures, I increased the ones that were slightly low and decreased those slightly high and reset the monitoring system.

I then drove around for about 30 minutes while it relearned the pressures, and the system seemed to work for a few minutes -- I was able to read the pressures in all four tires again. BUT THEN, a few minutes later I received the same error again, "Tire Pressure Monitoring System Fault." What could be the problem? I'd like to know what it is before I take the car in so if any parts need to be ordered, I don't have to go in twice.

Touareg :: 2004 - Tire Pressure Alarm Keeps Coming On

A friend of mine has an '04 Touareg and the tire pressure alarm keeps coming on. He has checked the pressure and it is fine. Took it into the shop and it wasn't giving any codes. It seems that it keeps setting off the alarm intermittently.

Ford - Explorer :: 2009 - Tire Pressure Sensor Fault / Low Tire Icon Flashing

2009 Ford Explorer, 6cyl, 4L, 33K miles. When its started up, the message "Tire Sensor Fault" appears along with the low tire icon flashing (steady light after ~30 seconds). I can then press the reset button on my dash to clear the message. However, the tire light icon stays lit. I've checked and re-checked the tire pressure in all the tires (spare included) and I'm right at the recommended 32-34 psi on all the tires. No signs of leaks at all. I'm assuming one (or more) of the tire pressure sensors have gone bad and there's no way for a garage (or myself) to identify which one or repair this. Should I assume a trip to the dreaded dealer for this problem ???

Prius (2004-09) :: 2008 - Tire Pressure Light Keeps Coming On

I just bought new tires on my 2008 Prius. The tires are the Bridgestone Ecopia's ...

My problem is that the tire pressure light keeps coming on. I have checked the pressure individually and everything seems fine there. I have also taken it back to where I purchased the tires. They have tried to reset the TPMS sensors on each only to have the light turn back on after about 20 miles. My concern is that the sensors went bad or were damaged during installation. I asked about this and was told that the batteries on the sensors are fine. Their reasoning for making this determination was that in the reset process all sensors responded very quickly. If the batteries were going bad on the sensors, then it would have taken a long time for the sensors to read their computer. The tire guy also said that if the sensors were damaged, they would not respond at all. Since all responded, they should be okay.

Toyota - Highlander :: 2007 - Tire Air Pressure Sensor Light Keeps Coming On

Two days ago I had new tires put on my 2007 Toyota Highlanders and since that time my air pressure sensor light keeps coming on. The tires are the right size, I checked in the owners manual. I've taken it back to the shop that put on the tires twice. The first time they told me the spare was low on air. the second time they told me the batteries in the air pressure sensors are dying and need to be replaced. I thought that sounded like a lame excuse so left the shop and called the Toyota Dealer and asked if the air pressure sensors have batteries. The service department at the Toyota dealer laughed and said no, they run off the car's battery. I called the shop back to tell them I was very disappointed and unhappy that they tried to sell me something that doesn't exist and they stood by the batteries in the sensors story and claimed they would show them to me if I would come back to the shop. Who should I believe? Replacing the batteries in tire air pressure sensors?

Ford F-150 (2004-2008) :: 2007 - Tire Pressure Indicator Light Keep Coming On When Driving

I have a 2007 F-150 that I'm having a little problem with. The tire pressure indicator light has kept coming on almost every time I drive it. I checked the tires, all register 35 pounds cold which is what it calls for. It has been going on in hot or cold weather for the past 4-5 months but will go off after I'd say 5 or 10 minutes of driving it. I really can't figure out what is going on with it. Bad sensor maybe? I looked to find something about this but couldn't or I didn't look hard enough.

Ford - Escape :: 2011 - Intermittent Tire Pressure Sensor Fault Message

I bought a used 2011 Ford Escape Ltd. which now has 21000 miles on it. The tire pressure sensor indicated a tire was low (it was), and I filled it. Now I intermittently get a message of "Tire pressure sensor fault." The dealer checked it when they changed the oil but it's still coming on, usually when I'm at high speed. It goes off again by itself. Is it important for me to do something?

Ford Escape / Hybrid :: 2009 - Tire Pressure Sensor Malfunction Fault

The facts: 2009 4x4 V6 Escape with Valve stem mounted TPMS

I am getting a tire pressure sensor malfunction fault. The warning light is on and the error message is displayed on the little screen in the gauge cluster.

What I have tried: First I should say I have replace to defective sensor twice now...

1) I put the escape in tpms train mode by hitting the hazard switch off/on about 6 times.

2) I used the train tool to train all the tires but there is one that is giving me trouble and will not train.

3) I tried deflating the problem tire and inflating it to the specified pressure given on the be pillar of the escape (30 psig)... after inflating it I tried to retain it with no luck.

4) I tried rotating the tires and as I mentioned earlier I have replaces the problem sensor twice. Still can't can't get the problem tire to train.

My thoughts:

1) I don't think this is a module error because I can train the other tires and since I rotated them I know their position is not a factor.

2) its possible that I have got two defective tpms sensors but I think that is unlikely.

3) I have read of another procedure to put the escape in tpms train mode that requires you to turn the ignition on/off, step on the break pedal, tap your head and rub your belly, etc... but I have not tried this method. Is there a difference from this train mode verse hitting the hazard switch on/off about 6 times?

4) Does the train tool only work on previously trained sensors? do I need to register the new TPMS sensor with the TPMS module? I have an OBDII tool that connects to scanXL software on my laptop which included the ford proprietary protocol. I looked for a way to program a tpms sensor (similar to how I did it with my toyota) but couldn't find the option.

Ford 6.7L Power Stroke Diesel :: Tire Pressure Monitor Fault On Display

Well, at a little over 10k I have my first issue. My monitor displayed a Tire Pressure Monitor Fault. All tires are OK. Light won't go out. Guess it just earned a trip to the dealer.

Ford F-150 (2009-2014) :: Tire Pressure Sensor Fault On Display All The Time

I would get "Tire Pressure Sensor Fault" on my display all the time. The problem occurred mostly on long trips, however, it would occur from time to time on shorter trips. I complained to the dealer about this every time I went in for an oil change. They could never find a problem and wanted me to bring it in when the fault was occurring. Of course these thing never happen when you're by a dealer. To my dealers credit they said they would fix the problem out of warranty if we can find it.

Well I found the problem. As strange as it sounds if I use the cigarette lighter with a power USB adapter to charge my phone or iPad I get the fault. If I use the 12V accessory port on the dash no fault.

Last weekend we drove to Nisswa MN & back (about 1,200 miles). To test the theory I only used the 12V accessory port and no fault occurred. Normally the fault would occur w/in 50 miles then just continue on being annoying the whole rest of the trip. I wish I would have found this out 57,000 miles ago. I use the adapter because the USB port on the dash will only charge my iPhone if the phone is off.

Touareg :: Air Pressure Monitor Fault

Well, I didn't get 10 miles from the dealer before the air pressure monitor fault hit. I had asked them to check this in advance and my salesperson said that only some T-regs have it and that there is no way to know until it happens. Was the dealer right? Or could they have saved me this additional 1-day hassle of having the problem fixed?

Touareg :: TMPS On After About 5 Minutes Of Driving - Flat Tire Fault

My TMPS as recently randomly tells me after about 5 minutes of driving that there is a flat tire. Stopping and checking the Inflation (warm type) shows the typical ~ +2 psi and no faults (or warnings) like long term -3psi or when I physically let the air out of the tire to test it. Physical test of the tire pressures confirms that they are all about ~+2psi after driving for 5-10 minutes.

No, there are no nail in the tires.
Yes, they pass the soap bubble test.
Yes, they hold the inflated pressures for weeks (both on TPMS cold and warm types) AND physical checks with TWO types of pressure gauges.
Yes, I have retrained several times after complete overnight cool down (~55F) and verification of physical pressure.

I though it my be RF interference with the TMPS (almost the same area after getting on the highway from 10 blocks of stop and go city streets) but it also randomly does it on city streets and sometimes after only 1 minute. No internal changes to the car electronics. No changes to mobile phone or location in car. Do these valve stems have batteries ? If the battery is low, is there an indicator of such ?

Ford Escape / Hybrid :: Keyless Entry Fail And Tire Pressure Sensor Fault

Over the weekend my 2008 Escape Hybrid manifest 2 problems the same day.

1. The remote keyless entry button stopped working (thought it was dead battery in key)
2. Got a error message 'Tire Pressure Sensor Fault'

So after suffering with having to actually unlock my car with a key (heehee/see sarcastic grin) and getting irritated by the error message. I asked the internet about my symptoms. Got the standard answers of "bad tire pressure sensor/reprogram" and change the battery in the key. But ONE and only one person (namely Enviroguy ) said what I thought was going on - that these two problems were related. (afterall it is 2 wireless devices in the car.)

Changing the key fob battery had no effect & Both keys were unresponsive. Seeing what Enviroguy said about certain chargers or wireless devices can cause interference in the tire sensor and keyless systems. .... Then I remember that I had been using a new no-name charger for my cell phone when this problem started.

I unplugged that charger.....(it was a cheap generic power point to USB adapter). The Keyless system is working... ! The tire pressure error has vanished.... !

I did not go to the car appointment.... Now let's hope this was in fact the problem! May my 2008 Ford Escape Hybrid "Be Healed!"

Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: Tire Pressure Sensor Fault Message Comes On And Go Back Off

Got a 'Tire Pressure Sensor Fault' message a few times on the way back from Florida. Tire pressures were all fine. Hate that it doesn't say which monitor has the problem. Anyway... it comes on, but after a few minutes goes back off. Saw it a total of three times over the course of 1,000 miles in two days. Is this the sensor failing and requiring replacement? Or is the system itself starting to fail? Would ESP cover this?

Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: 2011 F350 - Tire Pressure Monitor Fault

I've looked at this 10 ways to Sunday, but the play on words have me questioning if it is the same thing. My truck says Tire Pressure Monitor Fault. I have a 2011 F350, if that makes a difference. I checked all my tires, they are about 80psi each, front and back. What could be the problem? Is it something to take to a Ford Dealer or something I can fix myself?

Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: 2011 F350 - Tire Pressure Monitor Fault Code

So I scored a real deal on a set of Michelin on same size 17" OEM wheels that were taken off a brand new 2017 F-250 at about 100 miles. I installed them on my F-350 and had no faults show up. The tires had been marked as to which corner they had come off of so I put them on the same corners of my truck.

After driving about 50 miles I got a "Tire Pressure Monitor Fault" code. I pulled out my owner's manual and followed the relearning procedure exactly but I get the two beeps and the fail retry message from the left front. I have tried three times and get the same result.

Looking for info if the 2017 F-250 sensors are compatible with the 2011 F-350? Have I overlooked something? I habitually manually check my tires anyway, is there a way to disable the TPMS? Is it time for the dreaded trip to the dealer?

Touareg :: 2004 V6 - Pressure Monitor System Fault Message

I have an 04 - V6 with about 55k miles. Tire Pressure Monitor System Fault is the message. The tire pressures are fine. Message appears after 15 minutes or so of driving. After another 5 minutes or so of driving, the fault message goes away - whey you click to vehicle status it says "OK". I took it to my local VW dealer, they said they fixed it, but on the way home from the dealer, it popped up again. They are perplexed. This is not the "Faulty wheel on board" message, it is totally different....

Ford Brakes/Suspension :: 2010 F350 - Tire Pressure Monitor Fault Showing On Dash Info Center

I have a 2010 F350 that has been throwing the "tire pressure monitor fault” on the dashes info center. Here is where it started. I purchased new wheels, tires and sensors a few weeks ago. I put them on and they were fine on the way home because I assume that the stock ones where still being read (they were in the bed of the truck). Put the old ones in the garage and then while driving to work the next morning I got the message. I tried to reset or “learn” the new sensors that night with no luck. There are two ways to get my truck into learn mode. One uses the hazard flashers then releasing some of the tire pressure until the truck horn beeps. The other method is a series of break pumps and turning the ignition from on to off then using the TPMS tool that apparently comes with the truck.

The truck went into learn mode every time with either method but it would never recognize the new sensors. After attempting everything on the sensors I checked to see if for some reason the trucks actual monitor was in a “fault” mode. Last night I tried relearning the old stock sensors with great luck. They all were recognized… for about 10 minutes. After getting them to work I left the shop I work at and on the way home the "tire pressure monitor fault” came back again. So just in case something had been in sleep mode when I did it I pulled over and reset them once more. Again with great luck… until this morning on the way to work again it went back to fault mode even with the stock wheels still in the bed.
