I couldn't start my car this morning. It is a Toyota Prius 2011 model. When I turned on the start button, these lights were on, but I couldn't start the engine. There is a zzz sound when I turn it on. What went wrong?
View 13 RepliesI have a 2002 RAV 4 with 75,000 on it. The check engine light suddenly went on this morning. I have not gone to the dealer yet as it will be expensive to do so. I have an extended warranty but am not sure if they will cover the cost. As to the problem, is there a quick fix to this? Can I just do it myself?
View 30 RepliesWe've got a 2011 Prius with a little over 24k miles on it . For the last few months we've been having issues with it starting. First I thought the remote barriers were dying so I replaced them , I thought my wife might have been trying to start it incorrectly till the problem happened to me a few weeks ago. What happens is you try to start it (foot on brake, press power button) and all the warming lights pop up , radio turns on , navigation turns on but car doesn't start. This morning it happend just once , yesterday I had to try it maybe 10x before it finally started up. The dealership had it last Saturday and of course it started every time for them and they couldn't duplicate the problem , they also said they ran whatever tests they do on it and it didn't turn up a problem. FWIW we had the software recall update done in June.
View 19 RepliesI have a 2009 Corolla with 48,000 miles. Yesterday night, the check engine and vsc off lights came on. By the way, a gasket is starting to leak (probably unrelated to the lights).
How urgent are the lights? Can I wait to get the car into an independent dealer next Tuesday?
Today I had a flat tire. Noticed because the warning light was on. Fixed flat. Tire pressure light is off. Now the brake light is blinking. The cruise indicator is blinking. The skid control light is on and the check engine light is on.
View 3 RepliesI just bought a 2013 Hyundai sonata (this is my first car) and I found a wired thing happening when I just turn on the car (without turning on the engine) that Malfunction indicator light, Changing System warning system warning light, EPS and Check Engine Light are ALL on but after I start the engine, these lights will be off. Is this normal or there is something wrong with it?

View 3 RepliesI purchased a 2011 Toyota Rav 4 brand new less than a year and a half ago, and am now noticing that the rims are starting to rust. I am careful to get the road salt off and the car is washed often enough. I also noticed that some of the lug nuts are getting rusty. I am assuming that this should be covered as the car is still under warranty but I'm assuming the dealer will fight me on this. I have also noticed that this seems to be an inherent problem with the Rav 4 as I have seen it on others.
View 4 RepliesThe indicator lights stopped working on the switches and the dealer replaced a fuse and they worked again. Now they are out again and it seems like the heater on the drivers side is on the low setting for random intervals.
View 3 RepliesMy Toyota Corolla has 210,000. The check engine and air bag lights are on and my mechanic has explained that the issue with the check engine light can not be fixed. Therefore, the car will not pass its next State inspection. I wish I could wait for the late 2014 re-design of the Toyota Corolla wagon but it looks like I can't.
I need a hatchback this time. I am a Realtor and have to shlep a lot of signs. I also have to have space for my father's wheel chair. Further, I have to clean out 50 years worth of stuff from his house. The regular compact hatchbacks (Focus, Matrix, Impreza), etc. do not have enough space. This is the only reason I am deciding between two much bigger vehicles (the Prius V and the Honda CRV).
I would definitely lean towards the Prius V because of the 16 mpg difference in its favor but have CONTINUOUSLY heard that it is very unstable in heavy rain and snow.
About once a week our 2011 Prius will start, but the "Ready" indicator does not come on and the car cannot be shifted into drive. Once this happens it takes several attempts, turning the car on/off, until it finally comes on "Ready." I cannot create the problem, but it may stem from pushing the start button before the brake is fully depressed.
Last night it took more than 5 minutes to get it going. I "reset" the car by exiting, locking, and re entering the car. Then it worked, that procedure caused it to work.
I had the 2010 Camry I-4 in the dealer last week for the 40K service. They told me I needed fuel injector cleaning and a throttle body housing cleaning which I had done. This afternoon the check engine light came on and at the same time the Slip Indicator light came on.
I ran by Auto-Zone to have them pull the code for the check engine light and it was P0101 which AZ says is Mass or Volume Airflow circuit range and listed probable causes as:Open or short circuit condition, MAF/VAF sensor failure, or Faulty ECM. I called the dealer for an appointment Thursday morning and told him the story and asked if the throttle body or injector cleaning could cause the mass air flow problem. He said "probably not". He also told me that when the Check Engine light comes on the Slip indicator light automatically comes on to show that the VSC is not working while the check engine light is on.
My question is, could the cleaning cause the P0101 and if so what info do I need to argue the case with the dealer? Or, are they unrelated systems?
I have a 2006 Toyota Prius and it won't start after it was detailed. No engine detail. The key will still lock and unlock the car and when I press the power button sometimes nothing happens and sometimes multiple indicator lights go on and off. The battery is not dead but it may be low and the car was working perfectly before it was detailed. The doors were left open for some time and I'm sure buttons were inadvertently pressed during the cleaning. I tried to jump start but no luck. Is there a way to reboot the system or a way I could troubleshoot before we tow it to the dealer?
View 3 RepliesI had not driven the Prius in a few weeks, and even then, that was for less than five miles, and had the low tire pressure indicator come on late last week when the temperatures cooled down, which I fully expected given my opportunities with the Toyota Dealer properly inflating tires. We were away for another week and returned today and I decided to check the tires and add air, and in addition to the tire pressure indicator, the ABS, Traction Control, and Brake Indicator lights were on. As soon as I filled all the tires to the specified PSI, that indicator disappeared but the brake related ones all stayed on.
View 10 RepliesI've been having an on going issue where my Pirus will start beeping but there is no indicator light I can see showing any kind of issue. It will start beeping during startup and after driving for a while, no exact time something like after 25~30 mins. It sounds like the seatbelt beep but louder and both will beep when my wife does not have hers on.
I replaced the Aux battery(was old needed to anyway) with a yellow top but that didn't fix it. And again there is no indicator on the dash or display showing issues no red or orange triangles. Checked the prius's diagnostics but no codes appear under the diagnosis check I or II, sycheck mode or LAN monitor.
This morning, I found out that my Camry 2012's backup light did not turn on. When I changed the tranmission shift, there no any letters like D, P, or R appear on the meter panel. Moreover, on the panel, the check engine and slip indicator icon lights turned on. How to fix this problem. I already installed the aftermarket backup camera, and it doesn't work also
View 9 RepliesMy 5 month old 2015 Prius develops a problem. Once in a while when driving at night, the door open indicator and dome lights will come on for a moment and off right away. I assume it is cause by a loose connection or faulty sensor. Before I take the car to the dealer, is there something I can check?
View 19 Replies..few days later having some problems: red triangle, vsc, car with exclamation point. Took the car to toyota and scan came back with codes p0a08 and p0a09. Toyota diagnoses as needing a new inverter converter. However, the indicator lights are very intermittent and the car shows no real symptoms. I should mention the HV battery and 12v battery are brand new. Does this seem right needing a new inverter converter? Could it be something more simple like wiring/harness to converter?
View 1 RepliesMy wife couldnt get her 2011 SE to start this morning. It engine turns over strong but it wouldn't start. Brake lights worked. Brake pedal very hard. Tried several times but would not start. Finally I jumped battery just in case and it cranked. Don't know if this was coincidence or not. Car is two years old and only 30k. I checked for interior lights being left on or other things that might drain the battery.
Could a low Fob battery cause this? Brake switch? No codes thrown. Taking in to dealer but wanted to rule out a simple fix.
My car has less than 500 miles on it. Yesterday when I started it, I heard a knocking sound. I only put 87 octane gas in the car as the manual said 87 or higher. I don't know if I made a mistake putting 87 in there.
