My window came off the two metal u-shaped clamps that hold it to the lift mechanism. I know it was factory glued into the clamps (saw the "gunk" left when removed). My first attempt at repair failed when one clamp loosened due to improper alignment. Repair? (proper adhesive, alignment/positioning, etc)

View 8 RepliesI bought a used 2006 Scion XA. At the time the front driver side window worked, but it had clearly been shattered and replaced. The hard plastic molding to the right of the window is permanently damaged. After I had the car for a year, the window went down unevenly and then started to tip inside the car when I tried to roll it up. Took it to the dealership and they got it back up. They said the glass had come out of the tabs at the bottom of the glass. I called a glass company, and they said they wouldn't reglue the glass into the tabs and would only replace the entire window for $285. A few months ago I went for a quick oil change, and before I could tell them not to roll down my window, they had. They took the door panel off in order to get my window back up. They said I needed a new regulator. Will a new regulator fix my window? Does the regulator have anything to do with the tabs at the bottom of the glass?
View 2 RepliesI have been having problems with my drivers side power window on my 06 Ford F-150. At first, it would roll down, but wouldn't roll back up, so I replaced the switch. After replacing the entire power window control switch, if you push the switch for the drivers window down, it will start to go down, then stop, and you have to press it about 20 times to get it all the way down. You can definitely hear the switch clicking off. All the other windows work perfect. I took it to get the oil changed and asked about it, and they said to change out the regulator, which I did, but the same thing happens. I checked the fuse and that was fine. Is there a relay or something I should check?
View 12 Replies2001 Ranger 4 liter 4 door My driver side window goes up and the electric motor does not stop running when the window reaches its normal upper position. Instead it goes bang-bang-bang until I take my finger off of the switch. I'm guessing there is a limit switch that should disconnect the motor but has failed. The bang-bang (again I'm guessing) probably is some sort of a spring loaded torque limiter to protect the motor. Other than that, the window goes up & down as it normally should. I have no problem digging into the door, except with the window, door lock and outside mirror switches, I don't have a clue regarding how to get the inside door panel off. I know to disconnect the battery 1st.

View 3 RepliesWhen I was leaving for work, I noticed that the driver side of my front spoiler popped out (where it meets the wheel well). I tried to push it in but it wouldn't stay. I saw that there are 2 slits that look like a point for something from the spoiler to clip onto the bumper but I see nothing on the spoiler that will clip to them. I have a 2007 SE.
View 1 RepliesWithin one week of ownership of my new 2013 Passat, I noticed the driver's side of trunk rubbing and had techs "align" the trunk at 30 days. Before the recent 10,000 mi service, I did a walk around to see if there was anything I should have serviced and noticed the passenger side hinge was rubbing on the wheatherstrip and tore through. So, I took it in under warranty. I called after 10 days of no car; the techs apparently "realigned' the trunk and were awaiting a replacement weatherstrip. I love my B7s (yes, we have two!) but there's been obvious assembly issues (our 2012 had paint drip issues on the mirror so had that corrected without a problem whatsoever).
So, I finally got my car back from the dealership after 42 days! The service advisor told me he was fighting with VW to get the bumper replaced because there "is something wrong with it". That issue is still open, unresolved. As for the trunk hinge/wheatherstrip issue, the fix provided minimal clearance. I compared the clearance to two other Passats (one was a 2013 S that was my loaner for 42 days and the other was a new SE on the floor). Both had ample clearance. The body on mine isn't right - the trunk cavity opening is not wide enough by a mm or so. I know my lemon law rights and will be pursuing a case. At a minimum, my car was in service for a long time and that has devalued my car for resale purposes.
Door on the T-reg that is hard to get latched completely? I'm finding a need to reopen/slam the driver's door on a regular basis. Is this something the dealer can "adjust" for me? What would it involve? I don't think the other three doors need to be slammed anywhere near as hard.
View 1 RepliesI recently fixed a hollow sounding door rattle that was coming from the outer door skin on my driver's side door. It turned out to be a stiffening rib that was not bonded to the door skin anymore, possibly because of an impact or just age of the vehicle.
After removing the door panel and peeling back the plastic dust guard, I used some adhesive caulk and tapered rubber wedges to brace the stiffener and reattach it to the door skin.
The picture shows the approximate location of the stiffener in between the outer skin and the inner panel support.
I just had my Prius retrofitted using the TRS Retro-Quik with the Morimoto Mini H1 7.0 projectors. Looks like the rotational alignment of the drivers side projector is rotated too far clockwise. Is it possible to fix the rotational alignment without taking the headlight apart again?
View 2 RepliesIt's an 08 Ford F-150. 4x4... Truck was pulling hard to the right. Took it in and got the alignment done, they told me front right was worn and would still pull slight right. When I drove it, still pulled just as hard. Took it back and had tires rotated, they test drove it multiple times and made small adjustments then told me it was good to go. Drove to work today and still pulling. Not quite as bad but definitely more than a slight pull. What's my next step? What else could cause this?
View 19 RepliesJust got my 2012 Prius from the body shop. Got hit in the rear where the starting battery is.
Had window control problems since battery was replaced.
Problem is that the driver-side rear window can't be controlled by the driver. It works fine with its own control but not from up front. The light on that windows button is not lit like the others. When pressed it lights and when released it blinks a few times and goes out. I unhooked the starting batter to try and reset things with no luck.
I had a couple of questions about a 2006 Lexus GS300.
The reason I came here is because her GS300 has 3 issues and being this thing is one massive computer... I figured I'd ask you about them and make sure I wasn't getting in over my head in case the repair costs would be substantial.
1st issue: When sitting in the front passenger seat or either back seat with a window, the window goes down fine when using that switch. When sitting in the drivers seat, the only window the driver can put down is the drivers window. The passenger front/rear and drivers rear does not work. Is this a known issue? How to resolve?
2nd issue: When listening to music, regardless of output (xm, fm, cd, etc), audio is only coming out of the passenger side of the car. There is nothing coming out of any speaker on the drivers side. Possible amp issue?
3rd issue: When trying to operate the moonroof, nothing is done automatically. My mother tells me she used to hit open, and the moonroof would open automatically, same with closing. Now, you have to hold the button down manually to get it to the location you want and have to play with the button to get it to shut properly.
The driver side window does not always go up. It will be fine for days then one day it will not go up. Shutting off the engine and then turning the key back on and the window will go up. I recently replaced the windows switch in the driver's door. What else might cause this?

2000 f 150 4.2 v6 232,000 miles
I recently purchased a 95 F150 regular cab. The door jamb switch on the drivers side was broken. I removed the inside kick panel and found the switch badly burned and the wiring also burned. I purchased a new switch and found the socket with wires at LMC. The question is where do the wires go? Can I splice them in somewhere?

View 2 RepliesI have a 97 expedition It started a month ago crossing the border, I stopped at customs booth drivers side window would not go down. During the next couple of days the drivers side window would go down by itself, and I would have to bring the window back up. I have done alot of research on line everyone was telling me it was the GEM Module.
The window switch is good and the window regulator is good. Brought to my neighborhood mechanic, he said he was 90% sure that it was the GEM Module, he even said that he was tapping on the GEM Module and the window would go down on it's own. I decided to order a GEM Module online to fit my vehicle, received it on Saturday, installed it. [found no moisture around module] Same Problem, window would not go down. Now I have the drivers side motor unplugged from the switch.
I noticed tonight, that my driver's side outside rear view mirror is no longer defrosting. I can't really say when it last worked, we haven't had much bad weather here, and just in the wildest case that it may be relevant, I just recently had my master cylinder replaced under the Ford Recall. Why a mirror would stop defrosting?

A few weeks back I started to notice my passenger side window started to roll slower than the driver side, not by much but its pretty obvious enough every time you either roll the window down or up.. I made an appointment with a VW service center to have them look at it but they said they can't do anything about it .. Is this true ..? The service guy told me that their would be no way to make the motor of the window go any faster or slower.. However I'm back here again due to some clunking/ticking noise every time I roll my pax side window which develop during their first assessment.. So they ordered me a new window regulator which is getting put in now.. The main and initial problem as to why I made an appointment in the first place was for VW service center to fix my pax side window rolling a bit slowly. Now since they are replacing the regulator of my pax side window I asked the service guy whether this would fix the problem of the window rolling slower compare to the driver side and he bluntly said no.. "we cannot make the motor of the window go slower or faster".. Is their any way to fix the rate of the window to go up or down..?
