Having issues with the back-up camera? It only works about half the time. It either stays on the radio or gives me a black screen. I called the dealer and was told they have not gotten any other complaints
View 1 RepliesI have a 2013 Elantra GT with 38k miles on it and when I put my car in reverse today, the backup camera screen turned black with the red/green/yellow gridlines instead of showing the camera video. The radio unit itself is fully functional (display, touch screen, channel tuning, etc.) so I'm wondering if the camera could be shot?

View 5 RepliesIn my 2009 standard prius, the back up camera often, maybe 50% of the time, is just black. It has some scrolling look, and sometimes i can see a faint image of whats there. The warning text on the screen is still there, and I am positive the is plenty of light, and nothing blocking the camera.
Its almost as if the TV rabbit ears need some adjustment. Flickery images, images literally scrolling left to right, etc. Other times, its perfect. Where do i start? loose wires somewhere?
Since dec 31 my Nav screen goes black while driving, they only way i can bring it back is by shuting down and restarting the engine. But keeps doing it. Took it to deal they said they rebooted whole navi system but still doing it.
View 13 RepliesThe start up messages take way too long to clear, during which time they obscure the top section of the backup camera? I first get "phone connection successful..." followed by "transfer complete". Between the two messages, the top 15-20% of the backup camera screen is obscured. And it's really that top sliver of the screen that allows you to see more than 4 feet behind the car. I suppose I should just be more patient, but 10 seconds (I've timed it) is an eternity to wait after starting the car before you can start backing out.
So I just back out as if I don't have a camera using my mirrors and looking over my shoulder (which I did for my previous 30 years of driving before getting my GS so I guess it's not THAT big of a deal). I just find it really annoying to put a backup camera in the car and then obscure it with messages. It's interesting that Lexus feels it's important to tell me that my phone has been connected for a full 10 seconds. It would be more interesting to know if I was about to back up into something.
Just bought a 2013 Subaru legacy sport. Within a week the car stopped 5 times while I was driving. There were no dash lights and all gauges were on zero. Had to restart the car each time. I Had it towed back to the dealership. They had the car 4 days and said they drove it 25 miles highway and stop and go. They said the car never just stopped while they were driving and they are giving it back to me tomorrow. I am afraid to drive this car. I will be driving highway to get home.

View 3 RepliesIn the past month our 2005 Subaru Legacy has had a vibration(intermittently) where the steering wheel going slightly back/forth 60-70 MPH. I understand a wheel balance can cause this. However intermittently does not make sense. My wife simply speeds up to 80MPH and it disappeared or less than 60. Any clues?

View 2 RepliesI recently had an issue of my car not starting, battery empty, so battery needed a charger to start the car, but now the Nav screen does not work at all. no backup camera, nothing. Radio still works fine.
So i am guessing its a fuse. I looked at the fuse box on the driver side, but can't seem to find the appropriate fuse.
I am due to make a 400 mile round trip business trip today. Go out and start the car, and the screen display is black. The MFD. None of the buttons on it work, either - I have the beep ON, no beep. I turned it off, waited about 1 minute and tried again, still nothing. Went for a short drive (took the dogs to the park where they can run), it was off for about 35 minutes. Still nothing for the short drive back home. I mean short, this is less than 2 miles one way.
I can still access the a/c and the radio from the steering wheel. I can see my speed, fuel etc, that is fine. It is just the display monitor. This came out of the blue, I have not noticed any issues at all.
This does not happen all the time but my backup camera goes black and the dealer cant find the problem...

View 7 RepliesScreen go black, radio shut off, then reset itself while driving over and over again. Have the car parked and radio stays on after you pull the key and set the alarm. And the final piece, the alarm goes off three times no lights flashing then stops sitting in a garage, not outside. Is this a short ? I have two brand new batteries, new starter new altenator.

View 10 Replies I drive a 2000 Subaru Legacy and the radiator fan does not always come on. This sometimes makes the car run hot but has not (yet) put it into the "danger zone" overheating. It seems to happen if the car is in stop and go traffic and it's hot outside. If I'm driving down the highway or the weather is cool it doesn't happen.
I checked the fuses (yes, even the ones under the hood) and they are all fine. I am just curious if there is a sensor that could be the problem or if it is more likely the thermostat. It didn't quite fit the descriptions I found for thermostat but I'm a broke college student trying to keep an old car on the road, not a Subaru mechanic
I need to lube the speedo cable on my Suburu legacy 1993 does the cable come out from the speedometer end.?Also what the best lube to use for the cable,also any pitfalls to avoid.
View 1 RepliesMy Subaru was violently shuddering. I think the cold weather has made it worse. It seems to just be when I accelerate. I'm not sure if it's the CV joints or the rack and pinion.
