3 Ways To Maximize Your Growth Hormone Production - Exercise

Mar 15, 2016

We all know that Growth Hormone has a TON of benefits...it helps you build muscle, burn fat, increase bone density (very important as we age), and it's your body's signal to increase IGF-1 production, which is a HUGE driver of lean muscle mass development.

Obviously it's something we want to create as much of as we can. The problem is that as we age our HGH production decreases dramatically - which is why it gets harder and harder to get and keep muscle and burn fat.

It's also a major determinant in how fast we "age"...the lower the GH levels, the faster you get "old". (ever seen the really old dudes that are ripped? They have high levels of GH...be it natural or injected, either way, that's why they look like that.)

The good news is you can do it with some simple manipulations of your workout loads, tempos, and rest periods, and here are 3 ways to start boosting your GH levels with your workout tomorrow.

1. Use Shorter Rest Periods

If you're one of those guys who takes a 3-5 minute break between sets, you're not doing yourself any favors in the hormone department.

Research shows that shorter rest intervals triggers a higher hormonal response, so consider keeping your rest between sets to 60 second or less.

You can also incorporate giant sets with no rest between sets, then take a full 3-4 minute rest at the of the giant set to let your system fully recover before doing it again.

The no-rest between each exercise will create a big lactic acid buildup that triggers a big Growth Hormone response.

2. Use Higher Volume

The longer your muscles are under tension, the higher hormonal response. Using higher volume sets with heavy resistance really cranks up the GH output.

But how do you do high volume with heavy loads?

Pick a weight around 75% of your 1RM and perform 6-8 reps, then drop the weight by 30% and do another 15-20 reps.

The first part of the lift triggers the response to heavy loads, and the second half adds in the volume.

3. Lift Large Muscle Groups First

Bigger muscles create a bigger hormonal response. When lifting for hormone output, start with your legs, back, and chest as they are your largest muscle groups.

Work them and work them HARD! A few times a month train to absolute failure (make sure you've got a spotter) as that threshold is where you're recruiting the most muscle fibers and you create the biggest hormonal response to training.

Just make sure to get plenty of rest and nutrition post workout to recover.

These are 3 simple tips you can start using in your workout tomorrow to maximize your Growth Hormone production.

Birth Control :: Switching From Higher Hormone To Lower Hormone

I was on Apri for about 2.5 months. I had 3 months of pills but I skipped the placebo pills in each of the packs. I was having a lot of breast pain so my doctor switched me to Microgestin 1/20 to an actual continuous cycle prescription that has no placebos. I forgot to ask when I should start the new pills, so I just started the Microgestin after the last active pill of the Apri. Thinking back now, I probably should have waited until the end of the placebos to get a period.

About 3 or 4 pills into the Microgestin, I started getting a period. I actually had it where a huge chunk of the uterine lining fell out at once, it was white and textured like uncooked chicken skin. I've had this period for about 6 or 7 days now and it doesn't show signs of letting up. I'm worried about when it's going to end. Has anyone ever been in a similar situation or know any more details about this? I should have asked my doctor more questions when he gave me the new prescription.

Rhinitis :: Excessive Mucus Production

My problem is the excessive production of mucus. It has been going on for about 12 years or so (I am now 58) and it is getting worse. Embarrassingly, it happens mainly when I eat (usually halfway through eating a large main meal, but also when eating hot and spicy food). It's embarrassing because nobody wants to share a meal with somebody who has a perennially runny nose.

It also happens, bizarrely, when I sit on the loo in the morning, when my nose runs non-stop! I have no idea why.

It also happens, albeit less spectacularly, in my sleep. This means that I usually wake up in the middle of the night, wheezing. About three years ago my doctor diagnosed asthma, and a Ventolin inhaler does help ease the wheezing, but the main problem is coughing up phlegm. Once I've cleared that off my chest (with difficulty, sometimes), I usually feel better. But increasingly I am dreading nights, because sleeping (ie lying down) causes that congested feeling and wheezing chest.

When I do strenuous exercise, particularly in cold weather, my chest seems to seize up and breathing gets difficult. This is accompanied by a noticeable increase in my heart rate, which I can feel thumping in my chest. Again, Ventolin seems to help here (which I guess is why my GP diagnosed asthma three years ago -- although I never had asthma as a child.

Other side effects include lack of smell or taste. They really are very poor  (practically non-existent) these days. But is this a by-product of getting older? After all, my hearing is much poorer these days and that is obviously not caused by excessive mucus!

I gave up smoking ten years ago. I am about 3 stone overweight (6ft 1in and 16st), two stone of which I pile don after giving up smoking. I work (mainly) in an office environment.

My doctor has prescribed Beconase nasal spray, which is only partially effective. Sometimes it seems to have no effect at all.

To be honest, my GP was pretty disinterested, so I haven't returned in over two years. In fact he retired about a year ago and I have yet to go and meet his replacement, because I expect I'll again be fobbed off. After all, my "illness" must appear rather insignificant to an overworked doctor dealing with patients with life-threatening and nasty diseases.

In other words,if you can give me any pointers, regarding what the problem is likely to be and what I can try, I am very happy to sort this out for myself.

Anybody else recognise any of the above?

Co-proxamol :: Production Suspended - Rheumatoid Arthritis 44 Years

I have had Rheumatoid Arthritis for over 44 years and for quite a number now co-proxamol has been one in a cocktail of tablets I take to help me get through the day, at the moment my doctor is prepared to give me a prescription to take to a pharmacy that still stocks co-proxamol, however, he says they are not being made any more. I wholeheartedly agree with other patients who say that if one wants to end one's life the withdrawal of co-proxamol will not put a stop to this. infact I feel that the withdrawal of co-proxamol will most likely result in more suicides when people cannot get the pain relief they have had and feel the medical profession has let them down and life is no longer worth living.

Herpes :: Risk Assessment - Oral Going Both Ways

So, 13 days ago I had an unprotected sexual encounter with a family friend. No actual sex but there was genital to genital touching and oral sex going both ways. Since that time I have been a nervous wreck to the point that I'm barely functioning because I have convinced myself I am going to get herpes. I have not had any of the flu like symptoms and no rashes or  bumps that are obvious but I am obsessively checking myself multiple times daily. I know I am likely creating most of this anxiety in my head. What ia the likelihood that I was infected and just not showing symptoms yet?

Hemorrhoids :: Growth Above Anal Area

I've had a growth on the top of my anal opening for several years. It first came to my notice through pain on wiping. On further inspection, it became clear that a hard growth had installed itself adjacent to the anal passage. This body is immovable but periodically submerged in a type of crater or shallow second hole above the real one. Accordingly, it can flare up and became painful and irritated much as it can subside and be nearly invisible to the naked eye. This is the problem which stymied my attempts to provide a visual cue for a colorectal surgeon who examined me. I showed photos on my phone, but they informed me that they couldn't see anything and wouldn't proceed to a surgical solution. They did indicate some internal hemorrhoids and offered a ligation for those, by my pain problem is primarily related to this external object. I took two photos of the issue today and circled them in MS Paint for maximum clarification.

Thyroid :: Natural Ways To Dissolve Thyroid Nodules

I have 3 thyroid nodules and 1 cyst. I have been advised to have a thyroidectomy. I do not want to go this route yet and am searching for some natural remedies. I have heard of using iodine but to be careful do to the fact that that might enlarge the nodules. I recently found out that I am very iodine deficient from a lab result. I have heard of iodine trapping, whereby the iodine taken in when their is a severe deficiency is immediately 'trapped' and held in the gland in order to preserve some iodine for the use of the thyroid. I would like to proceed with caution and try the iodine therapy.

Does anyone on this board have any experience with successfully dissolving or at least reducing the nodules/cysts?

No Sex Drive And Lacking Penis Growth - Low Testosterone?

I'm a nineteen year old male, going on twenty, and I have some concerns about my testosterone levels. I've always been big for my age, I hit a peak height of 6'3" at around 13 years old. I can grow relatively little facial hair that's patchy and takes a long time. My voice isn't necessarily high pitched but most definitely isn't close to deep, I'm often soft spoken. My penis virtually hasn't grown at all since I was 12/13 years old. I also don't feel I have much of a sex drive, it rarely enters my mind and has been that way for a while. I remember being in middle school and thinking about it all the time. I'm fairly active and I eat well most of the time which I think are contributing factors to testosterone levels. I'm wondering if this is just the way I am or if there is the potential of a hormone imbalance. Is it worth getting checked out? I'd like to get my levels tested by money is scarce so I'd like some input before dropping cash on it.

PCOS - 7 Miscarriages - Massive Hair Growth On My Face And Pregnancy

So, to being, I'm 25. I've had seven miscarriages so far and I really don't want to lose this one. I've finally found a stable enough relationship with my fiancee who has been super supportive through all of this. Also, I have an advanced case of PCOS that causes massive hair growth on my face and other parts of my body, so I have an overproduction of testosterone.

About a week or so ago, I found out I was 3 weeks pregnant. I had my usual period but then the bleeding wasn't stopping so I called my doctor, they asked me to take a pregnancy test, it came out positive. They had me follow up with another one the following day and it too was positive. They had me come in and do blood draws.

The first draw returned HCG levels of 103. That was Wednesday of last week. On Friday last week, I went in for another blood draw and the HCG level was at 150. So it is increasing, but I am still bleeding. It's not the normal implantation blood which is darker in color, it's a brighter red like a period.

Sometimes it's heavier than others on some days and other days it's lighter. Even throughout the day it changes how heavy or light it is. I'm so confused and it's causing me undue stress which is not good for the baby.

I've only had one day where there was tissue passed and that scared the ever living daylights out of me. I really want this baby and I'm trying everything I can to keep it. I've been taking prenatal vitamins every morning, I quit drinking caffeinated drinks all together, I've been drinking more water, eating more fruit everything you're supposed to do to help the baby grow strong.

The doctors tell me not to worry but because of my past history, I can't help but. I'm going in for another blood draw today and I'm worried as all hell that it's going to come back even lower and that they will tell me I'm going to lose this baby.

Anyone else experience anything like this where the bleeding increases and decreases throughout the day?
