I have had an ulcer now for almost 2 years, I have been to the doctors around 10 times, I was first given mild antacid pills to take for 1 month, they did nothing, I was then given stronger anti acid pills to take for a month, I saw around 2 days towards the end of the pills of no pain, but then it came right back, so I was then given the same pills to take for 2 months, but they done nothing.

View 3 RepliesI was given lansoprazole due to a suspected stomach ulcer. I started taking it but was unable to continue to take the lansoprazole as it gave me a worse pain in my stomach than I already had and also a dry throat and mouth. I have now been diagnosed with h.pylori and started with triple therapy - esomeprazole (nexium)/amoxicillin/clarithromycin. The nexium isn't causing any stomach pain but is making my throat and mouth very dry and given me a sore throat and I am also suffering from a very unpleasant metallic taste in my mouth constantly. I went to the doctors again today and was given omeprazole to take instead but now I don't want to take it because I don't feel it will make much difference. Has anyone else had these side effects from the PPI and are there any alternatives I can take to inhibit the acid enough to let the antibiotics do their job?
View 1 RepliesI have had sciatica for 3 weeks on my left side I've seen various doctors at the GPs surgery they have all given me different painkillers but nothing seems to touch the pain for very long. I have had PMR for three years which I think has gone (my rheumy thinks so too) now this has really floored me. It is difficult to walk, first thing in the morning practically impossible.When I have to get up in the night to go to the loo its unreal.All the experts come up with is keep moving. I am doing but it is agony. I just keep going from one dose of pills to another but the pain comes back in spades before its time to take some more

I'm getting a Lil worries but my Dr seems to put it off. In the morning I'm having bad stomach cramping which feels like it's in my lower back too.
Also I've got a few mouth ulcers and 1 on the side of my tongue. I've also noticed I'm getting a lot of spots on my face and back I'm covered.
Is there any suggestions what to do? I've had blood in the stool for 7 months now and the stomach cramping is unbearable in the morning. I'd just want to get sorted.
I have been on the pill for 10 years. I recently stopped at the end of January as my husband and I are trying to get pregnant. I had a normal period at the end of January and February. In March I had bleeding and bad cramping 4 days before my period. I went to my doctor and they did a blood test and an ultrasound. The blood test was negative and the ultrasound came back normal. In April, I started a very light bleeding 4 days before my period was due. This lasted 5 days - I only had to wear a liner. My period never came. I took a pregnancy test 3 days after my missed period and it was negative.

View 1 RepliesI was on the pill for 17 years and I came of it February 2012 because my partner and I are trying for a baby. I've had no periods at all since then. It's been nearly 2 years and still no period! I'm 7 stone 12 pounds, fit and healthy with no family history problems in the reproductive area.
I get terrible spots on my chin and my fertility tests are good. Why haven't I had a period after all this time? I'm getting worried now. I saw a Gynecologist in 2012 and had all the tests etc which came back great. In 2013 I took Clomid and still nothing. I have a very unsympathetic doctor. Can anyone help as to what I should do next? Is anyone in my situation?
I had hormones tested and I am in menopause. I have not had a period in 4 years. Only been off the pill for a month after being on it for a long time. I am told I should still use condoms for birth control, which myself and hubby don't like at all. Chances of getting pregnant may not be likely but can happen. I really prefer to use nothing, but I don't want to end up with a pregnancy at this age. Anyone in their 40's and 50's have gone through this? What was your choice of birth control when the doctor takes you off the pill? Should I not worry about it and use zero protection? Do you think my doctor is being ridiculous?

However, about a month ago I started spotting, then it turned to bleeding which has required the use of feminine hygiene products every day.
I want to take a break from my birth control and give my body a chance to refresh.. I just want to know - will I remain protected from pregnancy if I take a week off (as I have not at all)?
I used nuvaring for 7 years,I stopped using nuvaring after my last period about 12 days ago,I'm starting the pill today,after using nuvaring for so long,do I worried about getting pregnant if I have sex without protection in my first week of using the pill.
View 1 RepliesI have been really happy on this drug for three years now and envisaged staying on it for ever because it suited me so well. I was on 15mg at first which stopped working after a few weeks and then went up to 30 mg which I have been on for three years. My depression has been controlled and I was sleeping really well. Before the mirt, I had to take temazepam every night, but for the past three years I have only had to take it once a fortnight or so, but it is very difficult to get doctors to prescribe it now. Anyway, I have suddenly stopped being able to get to sleep. I have frequent need to urinate and my heart is beating too fast when I can't sleep. This used to be only a couple of nights a month, now it is every night virtually. Also, my depression and anxiety have suddenly worsened.
Do you think the mirt has stopped working? I am reluctant to up the dose if it is going to poop out again, as it will make it more difficult to withdraw from it should I need to. Has anyone else been on this drug long term and had similar experience? I have a doctors appointment a week tomorrow, but was wanting to hear others' experiences before I go.
I'm 31+4 weeks am my baby girl isn't moving as much as the past few weeks no matter if I'm laying down listening to music drinking wanted or eating.. did any other mom's notice a slowing In movement around this time?

View 1 Replies I remember I read somewhere that it was not the same to take a 50mg pill than half a 100mg pill.
The thing here is that I usually take a 50mg pill before having sex, I'm used to that dosis, however last time I went to the drugstore I accidentally bought 100mg pills, I am not willing to take one of those since it's the double of what I usually take (and 50mg works fine with me) but I am not sure is by taking half of those pills it would equal a 50 mg one.
I used to be on the pill a while ago and I recently decided to go back on it. I accidently took the sugar pill on my second day of having my period not realising I was meant to start taking the active pills. Can I continue taking the sugar pill or do I start the active pill?

I mentioned that i had one migraine with visual disturbance and she explained to me that even one of these migraines is a reason to come off the combined pill. The combined Pill regulated my periods but she explained that this mini pill is now going to make me irregular.

View 1 RepliesTwo weeks ago my eye began to tear continuously, and I was sensitive to sunlight. The next day my eyes were paining and were red and tearing, and I could not stand the presence of light. Whenever light appeared, I had sharp pain in my right eye and constant tearing. I tried to sleep that night but could not. I went to a local eye doctor who said I had a corneal ulcer due to bacterial infection through contact lens and referred me to a cornea specialist. The specialist prescribed me a number of antibiotic drops such as Vigamox, Amphotericin B etc. Next time I visited( 5 days later), he said the ulcer was healing. He cultured my cornea scraping and it was determined as pseudomonas spp. So I was prescribed ciplox(as it was determined sensitive to ciprofloxacin) and Vigamox. 7 days later, my eye is now almost clear and the pain and redness is gone but my vision is incredibly blurry, as if I am looking through a cloud. At times, my vision seems to be getting better, but then, particularly in the morning, it is blurry. Can anyone tell me how their vision came back during the healing process? Was it a steady progression or uneven? When did the blurriness go completely? How long does the recovery process last? How do I know how much scarring has or will occur?My doctor tells me that he does not know how much scarring I will have or how much of my vision will return, so I am very scared. I am a software developer, and now I can't read anything clearly and all activities have been on hold. This is particularly hard for me as I just can't sit at home all day. He's many states away and his Dad (who he lives with) is telling him it sounds like an ulcer. He said the gagging and burping up blood happens anytime he eats or drinks something. I don't know what his daily habits are, since I'm not there, but I know he does drink. And he's trying to quit smoking by using a vape pen. He's talked in the past about a feeling of having a huge gas bubble in his gut, that moves around and can be very painful. Please help me to know if I should insist he go to the doctor, He has no insurance so he would need to know it sounds serious.
