i am having these injections soon and was told only that it would be for three months. I don't know if the injections are weekly, monthly, one off or what. And side effects - all I was told was that it would start menopause. Anyone had these?

View 29 RepliesMy gynae has decided on gnrh for me and I am to start in a couple of weeks. He said 3 months and if my pain does go i need a hysterectomy. If not then my pain is not gynae related. I have no idea whether its just one injection that lasts the 3 months, or monthly or what! I have been given no literature on this, have no idea of possible side effects, just that it will start menopause.

View 1 RepliesIn our village, it is recycling collection day this week on Friday. We have to separate, cardboard, papers, plastics, cans and glass bottles into different containers. The cans & bottle containers were moulded plastic with lids.
Over the years, all the lids have been lost, broken (council never replaces them) or they will not fit on with the pyramid of contents.
The amount of beer cans and beer/wine bottles I see in these containers as I walk around to the village shop (before the collection has been), would mean just about every household in the village is occupied by alkies.
I just don't know what real world the people that set these limits live in. A decent pint of lager these days is at least 2.5 units. Therefore having six pints on a Friday, not only puts you over you weekly limit, but means no other drinking whatsoever for the rest of the week. It's not realistic.
Three weeks ago, to my great surprise, I started to bleed after one year. The 2-3 weeks preceding this, my breasts were so sore, I was bloated and I has the typical "stringy" discharge that I used to get before my period. I was really not expecting another period but the bleeding was heavy and lasted for just over a week.
I saw my doctor a few days ago and she that she is obliged to send me for an ultrasound and possible biopsy if the lining looks thick. She said she is not worried but I am freaking out.
Can anyone share a similar experience? I read on one website that it is actually possible to ovulate and have a period after you stop menstruating for a year. I have not had any spotting - just this one "period". Of course, everything I have read says how abnormal it is to bleed after menopause and now I'm scared that there is something serious going on. My ultrasound is booked for two days from now.
I'm 42 and recently had blood work to check my hormones. My GYN said my labs suggested post menopause. I have yet to stop having a monthly. My periods are starting to range from 30-45 days but I've yet to skip a month. My husband and I were considering trying one last time to have another baby. Very confused
View 2 RepliesHeroin is something that no-one journey is the same,the effects it has on your life may be same but to go though and come out the other side clean..yes in fairy land. Yes you can, but to get there is more than any words could describe. Its hard work the ones with family's supporting them may be a help but to most its just a suicide mission. I went though it dragged my family with me,but to no avail it wasn't cos I couldn't care less it was a matter of survival for me I couldn't cope with normal everyday duties. My Dad died and instead of being with my family I ran away it couldn't be true it was a lie I just wouldn't except it .
My world was shattered and no-one around to help -depression sunk its teeth in and wouldn't let go. That was 2 years 9 months ago ,today I am street drug free,on a maintenance regime with a network of out-reach programs with all the aspects of my life being worked on, its hard work, not for the faint hard it its got to come from you the one its destroying to take control, if I can have a life I want one that's got a future to look and plan for.I have been the lowest any human-being could get and crawled out of the huge hole I put myself in. that's the point"ADMITTING IT WAS YOU " no-one else. I wish you luck,and I give you hope,that you too can do what I did .its staying clean thats the hard part ,one step at a time and no matter how long it takes that no interest do it in time for you not to a time-table. View 3 RepliesMy baby girl was born this last Wednesday. So far everything has been great breastfeeding wise. If anything, she tends to fed twice as long and go twice the recommended time between feedings, but that gave me time to rest.
Today, I've had a terrible time getting her to feed for more than ten minutes every few hours because they gave me a stronger pain medicine which also puts her to sleep whenever I try to feed her. I've decided not to take it anymore unless absolutely necessary.
Anyway, we finally get discharged from the hospital and my breasts are so sore and full that I'm pleading with baby to stay awake through a whole feeding. I didn't think milk would start coming in until later, but I swear when I finally got to pumping it out manually, it looks like milk instead of colostrum. Baby finally woke up long enough to feed fully too. But no matter how much comes out, they feel like they just fill right back up again and get sore... how do I stop the pain?
It feels like my body is producing more than what baby needs. She's barely a few days old. She doesn't need so much to be full. I'll need to start storing milk late for when I return to work, but I don't even know if this is milk or colostrum. How can I tell?
How soon does breast milk start to come out? I heard that sometime it doesn't start till a few days after the baby is born if that's so how will i feed my baby when she is born because i now i cnt do formula and breast milk any advice??

View 24 RepliesI have been taking Fluoxetine (Prozac) for nearly 7 years and will shortly be taking Gabapentin capsules (opened cos i cannot swallow capsules) for 2 weeks at 300 mg (once a day), then 2 weeks at 600mg (twice a day) and then 900 mg (3 times a day). My nervous system is shot meaning that my body produces too many chemicals making the slightest nerve pain excruciating. Also have a trapped nerve in my foot which means exercise is limited. Is it best to start taking these in the morning? By week 5 i will be taking them 3 times a day. Is it advisable to take them at roughly the same time of day?
I don't work fortunately so if i get any bad reactions i can deal with them at home.
