How Common Is It To Re-break A Bone? With Pins In It?

Feb 19, 2015

I am on week 7 out from surgery on a shaft fracture of the 5th metatarsal. The doctor put 6 pins and a metal bar, in there and no cast. I have been slowly building up to no crutches.

3 days ago was my first day with a cane instead of a crutch.

Stupid cane broke.

I had to walk back home on my heel with no support.

Since then, my foot has swollen, and I have pain in injury. I'm really nervous about this. I want to go get an X-ray but the hospitals are closed for the next two days. Chinese New Year.

How common is it to re-break a bone? And is it more or less likely with the pins?  should the pins be removed at some point?

Vaginal Health :: Small Ridge Of Bone On Entrance, Pubic Bone?

My vagina opening is wide enough to fit a tampon, which i've done on many occasions however, anything larger than this and it doesn't seem to stretch anymore. The actual skin can stretch fine and does but at the opening is a small ridge of bone. Once you reach past this bit of bone, inside the vagina it can stretch fine, it's just that one ridge, i can put my finger round it and hook it but I can't actually move the bone (obviously)So my problem is just that when I come to having sex, nothing will fit. I think this bone is the pubic bone which is just sunk down too far. I can also feel it right behind my clitoris and urethra opening like everything has been squashed down into one small area. It doesnt come very far up on my front 'mound' but comes too far down underneath in my vaginal area.Is this normal? Has anyone experienced this? What should I do?

Bone / Joint :: Pain After Bone Spur/arthritis Surgery On Shoulder

I had surgery on June 14, 2011 to remove a bone spur on my left clavicle and to remove arthritis near (but not in) my shoulder joint.  It was the worse experience of my life. I was in constant agonizing pain for 2.5 months. Just for the record, I've had two ulnar nerve surgeries on my left AND right elbows and never even needed pain medication. This shoulder surgery apparently did not relieve any of my pain. I still have a dull aching pain through out the day starting in my neck (left side) to my shoulder, and down my bicep to my elbow.  I still can not sleep at night, and through out the day while working my shoulder/arm/ neck is killing me. I continue to take an Naproxin and continue to rotate heat and ice. I did physical therapy for the first two months after surgery. My concern is that had arthroscopic surgery, and there was NO rotator damage so why is my shoulder still in pain? My shoulder pops when I do try to rotate it.. and often when I simply reach outward for something..I'm in excruciating pain. I'm a baker, so I am constantly lifting a 34-50lb metal mixing bowl and have to reach many times through out the day. There really is no way to not do my job duties and still retain my job. Any ideas why I'm still having this problem?

Bone On Bone - Partial Knee Replacement After Microfracture Surgery?

I am a 47 year old female. I had Microfracture Knee surgery on January 12, 2016 and it was not a success. My doctor said that I am still bone on bone and will need a partial knee replacement. He uses the Oxford Partial Knee and says it is the best one to go with. I was able to get a Synvisc injection on May 12, 2016. My doctor and I are both hopeful that this will give me some time to make this big decision. I have had a really hard time recovering from the microfracture surgery. I was on crutches for five weeks and my knee got stuck in a bent position. I was in therapy for three months and I still cannot walk with a straight knee. The thought of undergoing another surgery is so scary.  I just want to be normal again and do all the things that I used to do before.

Osteoporosis And Osteopenia :: Bone Density Vs. Bone Quality

I found a paper recently that contained some insights that might be worth thinking about." Studies of Osteoporosis (OP) and drug treatments have challenged the concept that denser bone means stronger bone. Bone strength, or resistance to fracture, is not easily measured by routine DXA as it is a function of both density and quality".

Migraines :: What Are Common Symptoms?

I'm only 23, but I hope someone will take me seriously.

I've had a constant headache for about four weeks. It kind of fades in and out, but is still always there. I've had streaking pains in my head for about a year. There is also a spot on top of my head that sometimes feels like someone is drilling a hole in it, and I sometimes get this with the headaches. The top of my head is sensitive to the touch in some spots.

Also, I've had stomach problems for about two years now, and the doctors can't figure out what it is. I've had just about every test done, and everything says I'm fine. But I get nauseated and sometimes throw up after every time I eat, and sometimes when I just smell something bad or think something is going to taste bad.

I also have a very bad short-term memory and dizziness. I also can't keep my balance a lot. I've noticed some changes in my personality/thinking patterns. I keep thinking it's my bipolar disorder, though my psychiatrist is not sure I even have that. Anyway, I get very paranoid, I'm very obsessive and impulsive. I also have this thing with my speech where I sound like I'm dyslexic, but I've never had that until all these other things started happening. Oh, and I've had episodes of non-stop emotion/incessant crying and episodes of no emotion whatsoever.

The question I have is does any of this sound like something you're going through or symptoms?

Vasectomy :: Pain Is Common - Be Informed

I only know 4 people that have had the snip and two of us have had big problems. I had the snip two months ago and am only just beginning to get over it. I immediately had an infection which caused my bollocks to swell like a melon- this burst the stitches and i got a secondary infection in the wound which no amount of antibiotics would get rid of so the doc had to put Silver nitrate on it to burn it shut. This let to a kidney infection and the pain is only just beginning to subside. I was seriously worried that i would never return to normal life but there is now light at the end of the tunnel for me. Some of the other poor bastards whose stories i've read make me so sad. Men are not informed of the potential pain or risks. If i had known how much it would damage me i would never have had it done - what's so bad about condoms anyway?

Vivid Dreams - Common Side Effect Of Fluoxetine

I know dreams are a common side effect of fluoxetine, but do they ever settle down?

I seem to be having quite a few vivid and realistic dreams per night, usually about things that are worrying me which then makes me question myself as to whether it was a dream or not!

Has anyone experienced this and did it settle for you? Or is there anything we can do to ease it?

Common Table Salt In A Warm Bath Cured My Scabies

I was very happy to find that common table salt in a warm bath cured my Scabies. After soaking for 15 minutes, get out of the bath and drip dry. Do not use a towel, but if you must, just pat dry with kitchen towels as they are more hygienic. If needed, repeat after 4 days.

I feel this treatment should be made public, as it is free of harmful poisons associated with common cures prescribed by the physician.

The salt will get into the mite holes to kill the eggs, and also kill the mites on the surface almost instantly.

This is something all families have readily available in the kitchen, and is very simple to use.

Make sure all bedding is washed in at least 50 degrees, and clothing is changed and washed as hot as possible.

Dental Health :: Root Canal Infection With Common Variable Immunodeficiency

Went to a new dentist. Was diagnosed with a root canal infection. Have autoimmune issues. Common Variable Immunodeficiency. Get IVIG once a month. Was on clindamycin pre-surgery. Twice. While waiting to have tooth pulled, developed pain in lower right jaw. Dentist said I should have root canal in back right molar where I have a crown. She said I have a probable infection there. (I am dubious) Had the top left next to back tooth pulled. Oral Surgeon did not even schedule re-check. Went on cephalexin. Been eight days. Still have pus in gap where tooth was and having soreness in left jaw. Wondering about this oral surgeon/dentist. I am new to them. Should I go back to them/seek a 2nd opinion. . .or go to ENT.

Myomectomy :: Pins And Needles Pain

Ten days ago I had a robotic laparoscopic myomectomy to remove four large fibroids from my uterus. The surgery went great, and I've been recovering at home and have been waited on hand and foot by my husband a bit less each day.

The only problem I'm having is occasionally in one specific spot I'm experiencing a pins and needles type of pain - sometime like shards of glass - in my abdomen. Yesterday I thought it was the result of overdoing it so I rested yesterday and still woke up in pain. My doctor is an hour and a half away (closest one I could find who does the Da Vinci robot!) so I'd hate to schlep myself all the way there if I don't need to. Anyone have any insight about this kind of pain following surgery?

Depression :: Venlafaxine - Pins And Needles

I've just taken my second tablet of the day about 20 mins ago and I'm having serious side effects. I've been on them since Thursday and have had a few issues with shaking, palpitations, insomnia and some mega weird dreams but nothing I couldn't cope with. in fact nothing I didn't have in one degree or another before.

Tonight I'm in serious pain with my chest. My heart feels like it's breaking out and breathing is hard. I'm light headed and dizzy when sitting but when I lay down my head starts pounding as if all the blood is being pumped in there.

My legs feel numb and everything below the knee has pins and needles.

Clarithromycin - Weakness In Muscles, Pins And Needles

I have been taking this medication for nearly 4 weeks , the first 2 weeks with prednisolone as a treatment for nasal polyps. I am spaced out most of the time , have had weakness in my muscles, pins and needles and numbness in my fingers. My stomach was painful so I have taken omeprazole for that which eased that pain altogether. Clarithromycin also have me insomnia and mood changes. They made my skin greasy, eventually spotty, and I have headaches and think I am sensitive to the light.

I finish them in 3 days time thank the Lord. At times I felt like passing out and unusually for me zonked out at unlikely moments during the day.
