I have been taking 40 mg lisinopril for over a year now but my blood pressure still is elevated at times. I have anxiety as well and recently went to Dr who prescribed me 5mg norvasc to take with my 40 mg lisinopril. Does anyone else take this combination and if so how does it work for you ?
View 4 RepliesI was started on Lisinopril and had a terrible cough so doc switched me to 25mg Losartan. I have been taking it since January 11th. the drug works well as far as no side effects but it seems like BP is higher than when I was on Lisinopril and my numbers are all over the board.
View 19 RepliesI started taking Norvasc (amlodipine) six months ago because my blood pressure was too high. I didn’t really have any visible problems that I could thought of were caused by high blood pressure, but it remained high even after I started watching my sodium intake and following the DASH diet. Since I’m 52 my doctor wanted to be on the safe side and prescribed me Norvasc.
Ever since I started taking this medication I’ve started having problems and now it seems as though I’m going through erectile dysfunction because of it. I haven’t been able to maintain an erection in over a month, but my doctor doesn’t really seem to be worried about that, telling me I still need to lower my blood pressure.
does anyone use a combination of a low amount of mirtazapine for sleep, combined with an antidepressant ?
View 31 RepliesI have been on lexapro 20 mg for approximately 10 years and now my GI doctor has prescribed me amitriptyline 25mg for irritable bowel syndrome. I really don't feel right about this combination. I tried weaning myself off lexapro first 3/4 a pill for 7 days, then 1/2 pill for 7 days and the 1/4 pill but after one day on the 1/4 I was a complete mess. Had many side effects. I don't even feel I need antidepressant meds anymore. I got back on the full pill but now I feel like everything is surreal. I'm anxious and can't seem to function normally. What should I do. I go to my primary care dr. tomorrow and want to know what I should be asking her.
View 1 RepliesMy partner and I had unprotected sex during my period (on 3rd/4th day). I'm to start using birth control pills for the first time on the 5th day. My period usually lasts 7 days.
Unfortunately I'm in a foreign country and pharmacies are closed till Monday which will be about 60hrs later when I can take plan b, and by then I'll be taking birth control pills.
Should I take plan B in combination with the birth control or should I simply go ahead with the birth control pills.
I am aware that what happened was irresponsible and unfortunate especially as I had already planned on being safe. Help and advice would be much appreciated.
If it helps, the Birth control brand name I am meant to begin using is Nordette. Doctor said I can start having unprotected sex once I begin using.
I recently turned 40 and have had an interesting year with health. I went from excellent cholesterol to very high, developed kidney stones, learned I have osteopenia and have developed chronic back pain caused by bone on bone. I am not a fan of medication and am trying to find the right combination of vitamins to help with these problems. I cannot take Calcium because it is causing kidney stones, but I am thinking Vitamin D and Omega 3 Fish Oil would be a good start. Any suggestions on other vitamins/dosage?

The Venlafaxine was started alongside the Mirtazapine three weeks ago and at first my anxiety came back slightly however for two weeks now I've been feeling great and back to myself and been very happy😃 but now all of a sudden since yesterday I've been having feelings of anxiety again, having hot flushes and have this horrible feeling in the pit of my stomach like a churning sensation! I have been rather upset today because I've been feeling so good because I was in such a dark place a few weeks ago! And now I'm feeling like this! What should I do? Will this pass?

I am to finally start a low dose today but had a drop to 47 last night- Think I had too much marshmallow root tea for interstitial cystitis. I know I cannot take it when I go on lisinopril. Not sure I should take it after the drop last night. Concerned that I have all info before I start it.
This is a battle - I tried toprol and it dropped my sugar to 67 and an awful hypo attack.
We are trying to find some pill (my PCP And I ) that does not cause leg edema as verapamil does.
Does anyone suffer from wheezing , my GP has increased my dosage and now I`ve developed a wheeze and a cough.
View 1 RepliesI find this medication awful , it is ruining my life, I can't sleep as I am so restless, when I do finally doze off I am up peeing. I have swollen legs and ankles which is putting pressure on the arthritis in my feet. I crashed the car two weeks ago while having a 'blood pressure moment' i.e a brief blackout - I hate it and am trying to establish what the drug does - it reduces BP and the risk of stroke and heart attack but to what degree.
I am almost at the stage of get up get kids ready for school etc, go to work come home cook diner, wash up etc bed by 9 up at 7 I have no energy. Doc completely unsympathetic says you don't want it don't take it.
Several weeks ago, having been on Lisinopril for around two years I suffered this hacking dry cough. Thinking it was a cold I left it but it never really went away, in fact it worsened and I had difficulty sleeping, having to prop myself up at a certain angle to stop the coughing.
I visited the doc who immediately diagnosed it as Lisinopril Cough. It's apparently a lot more common than you think. It usually takes a week or two to clear up after you stop taking them (there are many alternatives available) although in some patients it can take months or more. A friend who had been taking it for a few weeks also had this side effect. I found by breathing was a lot better after and my joints ached less. Two more side effects that are listed.
Googling revealed that the cough is a very common side effect. There are hundreds of reports posted on this condition. It could be 35-50% of the people taking it who suffer the cough, some after a couple of weeks of taking it, some after months or years.
Having huge memory problems since taking this drug. Went out in the cold and could not remember where I ALWAYS put my gloves.
Quit 2 weeks ago. Better, but difficulty remembering things. I will take my chances without this medication.
I am coeliac and my GP would like me to try Lisinopril for my unacceptably high blood pressure. However neither he, the pharmacist nor myself have been able to discover if the drug is gluten free. We are also concerned that I have had severe allergic reactions (SJS) to ACE inhibitors in the past.

I am very depressed that this drug is not working especially as the side effects are quite marked ie ..extreme tiredness. Anyone else out there had similar experience ? Did a higher dos eventually get the pressure down?

View 3 RepliesI've been on Lisinopril 20 mg. twice per day for more than 5-7 years now and works well on my HB. However, recently I'm getting mild headache along with swirling-feeling once awhile. I took on HB monitor(Reli-on) this morning and it was surprisingly high, more than 140 when I administered HB monitor twice.
My Dr. appt. is two months away and the Lisinopril 20mg. rx has two more refills.
Just wonder '2 tabs' Lisinopril 20mg. is low-dosage? Normally, what dosage most of HB folks have been on?
I was taking atenolol for about 14 years for hypertension. I thought it was causing me some weight gain and depression. I asked my MD to switch me to something else, and she gave me lisinopril. I noticed a cough right away that even woke me up at night, as well as an increased pulse/heart rate. These side effects bothered me so much that I asked to go back to atenolol. Like magic my pulse rate went back down, into 70's and 80's instead of 90 and above. I even noticed a lower heart rate at the gym during workouts! Plus, my BP is lower than it was on lisinopril. I have read that atenolol is an older class of drug and newer ones work better, but I am happy with this for now and I don't want to switch again! I am 58 years old and work out 5X a week. My diastolic BP is still a bit on the high side even with atenolol, but systolic is fine.
