Kidney Stones :: Azathioprine For Ulcerative Colitis - Vomiting And Blood In Urine

I have been on azathioprine for 9 months now for my UC and is well under control now.
I have recently been having episodes of extreme abdo pain (not bowel) that comes on all of a sudden and lasts for a few hours..also these episodes include vomiting and passing blood in my urine (last one looked like there was sand in it).
So I'm thinking this is my body trying to pass kidney stones??
Has anyone had this experience after taking azathioprine?? Maybe I'm not drinking enough to flush the toxins through from the meds?

I have left sided colitis and have been on azathioprine 75mg x 2 daily and two 5mg prednisolone tablets. Have been on the full dosage of azathioprine for four weeks and now suffer from constant constipation to the point where I have to take laxatives and eat prunes. Has anybody else had this problem? Have purchased a tub of benefiber but unsure as to whether I should use it.

I'm a 48 yr old lady who has UC now for 25 years. I was diagnosed when i was 6 months pregnant and the flare lasted until my daughter was 2 years old. I have had several episodes over the last 20 or so years, but all have been controlled with rectal Mesalazine. Sept 2012 I had a major flare up while on vacation in USA and hadn't brought any meds with me. I have been bad ever since. I have had the 10 weeks of steroids which cleared it up, but as soon as i stopped them it started all over again. I was put on 200 mg of Azathioprine, 400 mg Ferrous Sulphate, 4 g of Mesalazine oral as well as the supositories. Grim.......so tired, so low. Jan I was put on Adacolumn for 8 weeks of dialysis. This gave me a months break, but the symptoms returned along with leg ulcers (pyoderma gangrenosum) and an amazing pox, warty virus all along my abdomen, and thighs. The skin Dr said it was all due to the Azathioprine. Weighing up the pros and cons, My consultant and I have decided to stop the Azathioprine and start me on Arsenic suppositories.....sounds gruesome. Has anyone else been down a similar path?

So ive been experiencing kidney stones. I had done at 19 weeks passed one now at 27 weeks I have more. They also told me besides the blood in my urine I have too much protein. Not really sure what this means, they are checking for infections but im still waiting on results. I go in for my glucose test and an ultra sound on my kidneys on Thursday. Anyone else experience any of this?

I have had blood in my urine for the past 5 days. I have no pain at all. The amount of blood seems to have dropped but there is still a apple cider color to my urine . I have several kidney stones and cysts. 2 are Bosniak 1 and the other is Bosniak 2. I have had a ultrasound last March to see if there has been any change in my cysts. No change has been found. Does anyone have any clue as the possible cause of the blood in my urine?

Over the past week i have been getting bad kidney pain and blood in urine. I went to see the doctor who gave me a pain jab and told me if the pain gets worse to go to the A&E, as i have a ileostomy she was not sure if that was causing the pain. Any way that night i never slept so in the morning we went to A&E was seen fast and given a x-ray and was told there may or may not be a stone also check urine and found blood and protein ? they then said i could leave as long as i was happy to go home with pain meds. So they gave me diclofenec and tamsulosin. It was not till i got home and read up on the drugs and saw they was slow releasing, now as i said i have a stoma and cant take these type of pills. What i want to know is do stones always show on x ray, what can cause the blood and protein and what other pills can i take to help.

I've been on azathioprine for Approx 6 weeks and the last 2 weeks have been hell. My knees feel like they've been shot i'm not sleeping in the nights always have a headache cold sores chesty cough sinus trouble.

It all started a little over a week ago, when I discovered blood in my urine late in the evening, thought nothing of it until i carried on peeing blood for the whole of the following day, day 3 was the day when I started getting extremely excruciating pains in my left side which caused me to roll around on the floor in agony and that pain would come and go in little or loads of pain, so I went to the doctors and he said kidney stones and gave me dicloflex and to drink lots of water to hopefully pass them, (he did a sample and I had extremely high blood in my wee and nothing else) I also have a ct scan In a week but the pain in my sides has stopped, like it's barely noticeable now, and because I've been drinking so much water the blood has stopped too, but I bet there are still blood cells in the urine not visible to the human eye? If I stop drinking water will the blood return? Basically will the ct scan come up with anything or will it find anything else? As the pain and blood has apparently stopped for the past two days, also I am certain I haven't passed anything, I've kept a close eye and seen or felt nothing, I've had the odd bottle of lemonade because that 'apparently' helps, maybe it's dissolved the stones?

I was diagnosed about 18 months ago after suffering for about 2 years silently. I had a big flare in January and was hospitalised after 3 days of constant bleeding, dr's sort of got things under control and I left hospital 4 days later and have just finished 56 days of prednisone but I really don't feel they'd done much good. I'm still loosing a little blood, feel shattered and am now short of breath.

I started getting the following symptoms 6 weeks ago, explosive diarrhea, blood loss, mucus in poo, constipation, 7-10 bm's a day, bloating, cramps, loss of appetite, severe fatigue.... I left it 4 weeks as thought it was a bug & have a very hectic lifestyle so didn't have chance to give it a great deal of thought but went to the docs & she said she's pretty sure it's ulcerative colitis. She was quite concerned & requested I had an urgent colonoscopy within 1 week but I have to wait 6 weeks for this to happen. My doc wasn't happy but said there is nothing she can do to expedite this. I was at my wits end yesterday so my hubby took me to a & e but again they were reluctant to run any tests as I'm already booked in to have a colonoscopy. They did the standard tests which were all normal. I'm now waiting to call a private hospital to get an appointment so that I can get this procedure done ASAP as my family are so concerned. I can't believe that I've got to pay £2k to get this issue checked out? I thought that losing blood for 6 weeks would be classed as urgent but I guess not?
Sorry if tmi but I noticed veg in my stools this morning & that was from a meal I had last Tuesday?
Does this his sound like ulcerative colitis to anyone or could it possibly be crohn's?

I have had an achy upper back pain for a few days now. I was attributing it to having slept funny, but now I am thinking it was a warning sign I missed. I woke up at 2am with horrible nausea and sharp pain in my upper left back. It comes in waves and was so severe it brought tears to my eyes. I have had kidney pain from infection in the past and while different I think this pain may be kidney related too. I am trying to find some way to get comfortable enough to sleep since it is the middle of the night and I don't want to wake two sleeping babies and drag them to the ER. I tried calling the nurse helpline provided by my insurance company, but he just told me to try a heating pad and some Tylenol.
I have a lot of prescription pain meds in my medicine cabinet because I have had 2 c sections and another surgery within the last couple years and I hate taking pain meds... I took an oxycodone. That along with a vibrating massage mat under my back seems to be helping with the pain for the moment, but the nausea is even worse now. Any suggestions for that? I just need to make it to morning so I can go to an urgent care clinic. There is no one to watch the babies right now and of course o would get sick on Sunday when my primary care doc is closed.

my 27 year old Son had a 8mm stone that they found on a CT scan, they went took him in for laser surgery last night and found nothing but a swollen kidney, the doctor says he must have passed it but my Son says he didn't now wouldn't you know if you passed a stone that big?? He has a very high and unusual tolerance to pain but not that high and he's been keeping an eye on his urine after urination can they just disappear?

I am a 53 year old female. I've been suffering with some stomach discomfort for the last few months. About two weeks ago I got some really bad pains in the left side of my stomach, a few days later I had some seriously stong pains down below and couldnt pass urine. Several times during the night I went to the bathroom with a feeling one needing to pass urine but just got this really strong pain and couldnt pass anything then when I finally did it was just a drizzle. the next day I went okay, and there were small black bits in my urine, about five in total. Were these kidney stones? they were very small. whats worrying me is that a couple of days ago i got the pain in the left side of my abdomen again, it was quite bad and kept coming and going over a day or two but nothing since.

Hello have posted on here a couple of days ago about waiting for results on my ct scan which I had on Thursday morning and was told about a week for results , but rang my doctors on Friday morning because I wanted to ask them about the best pain killers to take while waiting for results because I was having stinging pains which were coming and going but still needing to urinate a lot , but was told my ct scan was back and yes it's a kidney stone that near my kidney and bladder join but she said the symptoms that I was having on Friday sounds like it may have moved to my bladder now , but since then no more movement on same symptoms as needing to pass urine all the time. What I want to know from anyone on here that been through this can trying to pass the stone go on like this for a long time stopping and starting again.

I have had blood in my urine on and off for 2 years. I have chronic kidney discomfort, have been told that I have 3 cysts on my kidney and one on my liver.
I develop low grade fevers from time to time, and seem to always have UTI's. I once had a large kidney stone.. Monday I had a headache so bad I went to the dr she told me it was a migraine. As a precaution she ordered blood work. Can someone please help me understand these values. eGF non African American >59 Creatinine 0.73.

Precontrast density of the cystic portion was 7 hounsfield units and postcontrast density of the cystic portion was 4 hounsfield units. Precontrast density of the septations was 14 Hounsfield units and post contrast CT density of the septation was 37 hounsfield units.

I've recently got back from the doctors i've had ongoing kidney infections with blood in my urine. i first suffered with this in march and was given 3 lots of antibiotics to try and get rid of the infection as each course they gave me didn't work the doctor was quite concerned as i was told there was alot of blood in my urine and was given stronger antibiotics but since then i suffer from every couple of days of a really bad stinging sensation which really hurts when i passing urine there seems to be a big amount of pressure also when i'm passing urine like there's something heavy there i've been given antibiotics a few weeks ago for this and its recently came back so went back to the doctors and was told there was blood in my urine once again and protein i was examined to see if i had any sort of discharge or sign of an infection in my clitrous and vulva but she was told it looks fine and no inflammation there but she's referred me to the hospital for a scan on my bladder and kidneys and as referred me to a specialist to look deeper into this and had blood taken for my liver my kidneys and my blood count could anyone help me by telling me what they think is wrong or what u think they looking for.. thankyou

Test show that I have a enlarged kidney, I have protien in my urine, severe back pain to the right side, strong smelly urine, blood pressure very high now on 10mg blood pressure tablets, Doctors have done tests on my kidneys and say the test shows the kidneys are functioning normally so I have not to go back to hospital for six months.

I have UC and have had this for the last three years. At the moment it is quite settled however my anxiety and my social fear is taking over my life. I have a fear of not making it to the loo on time when I am out and am constantly thinking of where the nearest toilet is, and although I don’t require it I work myself up so much that I do. This mostly happens when I am stuck in traffic or if the train just randomly stops for a while- as I then get scared that I need the toilet. This brings me very down as my life has changed as I am always fearful and feel low and depressed at time.
Any help or advice will truly be appreciated please as I am longing to have a normal life with my family and friends without having a fear of needing the toilet.

I am a Diabetic and have been for over 10 years. Since then I have also been diagnosed with Ulcerative colitis, cervical Osteoarthritis, and recently Diverticulosis. I had a fusion and discectomy on C5/C6 August 2014. Since the operation I have had such a bad flare up and I have trouble controlling it. I am now on steroids and hopefully this will take some control. And now I have been told I have high Potassium levels, not sure why this is, could this be because of infection?

21 year old female diagnosed with left sided UC after 2 colonoscopies over a 6 month period.
I went from 3 to 4 capsules of Apriso daily, which isn't working, to now having just done my 4th Remicade treatment. I still have diarrhea all the time, and occasionally with blood in the stool. I spoke to the Gastro who has said our next steps might be to increase the Apriso (I have one friend who takes 8 capsules daily!), or to try stopping the Apriso all together and seeing how I do. I have tried to get my stress under control-I am a full time student that travels between two campuses and work about 30 hours a week, and even dumped a boyfriend because he added too much stress to my life, lol. I have found stress makes me flare up quite bad.
Is anyone else on Apriso? How much were you prescribed?
Thanks for anyone's experience and wisdom you can share. My Mom and I are about at our wits end trying to find a balance for my life that lets me heal and still lead a somewhat normal life.
