I have had a terrible month. Seems like I have done nothing but cry. I usually have more anxiety than I do depression and most of the time I can somewhat shake it off but not this time I don't know what's different. I was having symptoms of my period but so far no show. My question is do any of you have times when you feel you have been bloated forever and does your weight fluctuate?
View 46 RepliesI have been on omeprazole for 2 years and have put on 3 stone. It stopped my acid reflux and i know some of the weight gain was due to what i was now able to eat. I have experienced pins and needles and numbness in my fingers a very bloated a swollen abdomen, tiredness and shortness of breath. I have come off them now to see what happens and haven't taken a tablet for 2 days, so far acid reflux ok but had very vivid dreams and shallow breathing in the night almost like panic attack, not sure if this is a side effect to coming off them.

Been taking elleste 1mg for 4 weeks now, l struggle with my weight at best of times I'm starting to feel constantly bloated and feel I'm putting weight on round my middle. My hot flushes have calmed down my mood swings and sex drive not improved yet am l being to impatient will l gain weight? I go to gym 3/4 times a week and constantly watch what I eat. Can anyone recommend hrt that doesn't give you weight gain please
View 11 RepliesMy ND recently put me on bio-identical estrogen (estriol) cream and progesterone capsules because I have severe chronic insomnia.
My sleeping has improved a bit, but I immediately gained about 15 pounds (I mean, within a couple of weeks) and I can't get it to budge. Most of it is on my chest and back, which is truly awful, since I have a tiny frame and was busty to begin with.
I keep reading about how the weight gain is temporary, but it's been three months now, and nothing has changed. I eat a low carb diet anyway, and I've always been on the slender side. As I just retired, I'm not in a position to just accept it and buy a whole new wardrobe.
Is this really temporary?
I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism when I was 14, and since then i have been taking Levothyroxine to help with it. I am wondering, will I need to take levothyroxine forever? Or is there a fix for thyroid problems? I don't see my weight going down at all, or my thyroid level. My doctor has been increasing the dosage of my levothyroxine, and has three times now. I recently got Levothyroxine in 0.137mg dosage, and it smells terrible. My old ones were 0.125mg. Is this a very small change, and will it even do anything?
View 1 RepliesI have had Tietze's/costochondritis for 6 years now and it has affected my life drastically. Not sure if it began with a bacterial infection (like one doctor said) or a slight ribcage injury. My symptoms or more like 'gasping for air' and just about passing out because i can't breathe as well as a feeling of 'swelling in the ribcage area'. The pain is around mid-section and wraps around so very difficult to sleep on side. It has affected my quality of life because i have become reclusive and don't do anything that involves a crowd because i don't want to get bumped or elbowed in the ribs. The last time someone hugged me (which was three years ago) i had to go to ER and get a steroid shot and dose pack because ribcage area was so inflamed. I am a thin person so that may have something to do with it--not sure because i saw where someone said that doctor told them they would get better if they lost weight?? When i go to a doctor (and i have been to many from rheumatologist to neurologist) they do not have answers for me as to why this will not go away. I have been told everything from vitamin deficiency to chronic inflammatory problem to 'they don't know what it is or what to do for me'. I am very frustrated at this time because I get roadblocks everywhere i go for help. Any suggestions?
View 4 RepliesI used to have PSA readings as high as 6.0 until my doctor prescribed Avodart 0.5 mg capsules daily. Since starting the Avodart regiment (3 years ago) my PSA readings have dramatically fallen to the range of 3.2 to 3.8 which obviously I am very pleased with. However, looking forward, (I'm 72), I'm wondering what to expect. If I stay on Avodart forever I assume that my readings will continue to be in the good range. But, is there a long term negative scenario for taking that much Avodart that I should be aware of ?

I have taken good care of myself all my life (never smoked, never drank, not overweight, never even had a cup of coffee) and feel awful about going on meds. My wife says its time. Are BP meds a forever thing?

View 1 RepliesHad gallbladder removed last November, and everything was fine, only issue that the surgeon had was bladder had adhered to other organs, hence look longer to remove. But all ok.
Everything was fine for 4 months, then started getting same dull ache/pain across top of my stomach. Along with this started to get bloated stomach and also a lot of wind. Lived with it for a time and started taking Buscopan again.Although have the ache during the day it gets worse when I go to bed and lie down, and can only sleep on my back.
Have been to the GP, who says it could be adhesions, however he has now referred me to the Consultant surgeon who operated on me.
Has any else had a similar experience after the operation.
For the past two weeks or so I have been feeling very bloated and "heavy", as well as general stomach discomfort in my lower abdomen (cramping at times, sometimes sharp pains, others times very gassy). I am 36 years old, 5'8" and 120 pounds and normally have a flat stomach unless I have eaten a big meal. When I first started to experience these symptoms I initially thought I was mildly constipated - even though my bowel movements haven't changed at all, I just never feel "empty." I decided to take a laxative tea which did make me go more, but I was still very bloated afterwards. In desperation I then did a salt water flush (two teaspoons of sea salt in 34 ounces of water, which is supposed to clean out your digestive system completely), which did make me go even more, but yet I was still very bloated and heavy-feeling after.
The discomfort extends to my lower back at times, and my belly is so distended that sometimes it feels somewhat difficult to breathe. I should note that about a week or two prior to these symptoms, I had completed a 20 day juice detox where all I ingested was fresh fruit and vegetable juices. While doing the detox I felt amazing, better than I ever have in my life. I gradually went back to eating food - first raw fruits and vegetables, then cooked - but the first thing I had that was cooked (a tiny portion of vegetable soup) didn't sit well with me and upset my stomach for about a day afterwards. I have eaten normal food since but it does seem like my bloating issue started around a week or two after completing my juice detox.
I should also note that for almost a year now I have been a vegan, so I have no meat, eggs or dairy in my diet. I have never felt this way before and am at a loss of what to do. The constant heaviness and discomfort is really starting to affect my mental state, not to mention I am so afraid to eat anything at all for fear of having cramps/gas and more bloating after. I have thought about doing another juice fast to try to fix my system again, but I want to be able to eat normally like I always have. I am going to see my general doctor tomorrow but to be honest I don't have much faith in doctors. I am thinking about taking a probiotic as well, but I just don't know. I feel lost and sad by the whole situation.
Iv noticed my stomach hard and bloated. I've had like a gassy feeling in my stomach the day after i had diarrhea but only had it once then i have not poop for the past three days.. What does this mean?

My stomach is still bloated and feels heavy from the bottom area, and there's a pressure on my pelvis area...
Also when I need to urinate it takes me a few seconds to actually start going.
Anyone has bloating feeling after drinking a small glass of water. I had dinner at 8:05 and at 10:15pm I had a small glass of water and around 11or so pm suddenly I had feeling of bloating until I burp then I feel a little bit better. It is not the first time, from time to time I experience this. It worries me.
