Prostatic Artery Embolization (PAE) Due To Chronic Prostatitis?

Jul 10, 2015

Anyone got any advice re having a PAE if you have chronic prostatitis? Would it help or not? I have an enlarged prostate as well and have been thinking of having a PAE but wonder how that would affect the prostatitis.

Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) Can Lead To Prostatitis?

I was diagnosed, by my GP, with BPH about three years ago although I have been having symptoms for way longer than that as I kept putting off bringing it to his attention.

My question is can BPH lead to prostatitis, nonbacterial? I ask because over the past several months I have been experiencing a lot of 'discomfort' after urinating such as stinging, burning, which extends the length of my penis way back up between my legs and 'deep inside'. Along with this is the constant, and I mean constant, feeling of wanting to 'go'. Sometimes the stinging seems to turn to a dull sort of ache which is difficult to describe. Along with this is an intermittent feeling that I am going to wet myself as it feels a 'spurt' of urine is making its way down my penis but only one one occasion, thankfully, has anything actually leaked.

I went to my GP about a month ago now and he did a urine test but it was clear. He has referred me to the hospital to see a urologist as I also had another instance of difficulty in urinating but my appointment is a month away.

The 'discomfort' comes and goes over several weeks or months, or so it seems, but when it comes it drives me to despair.

I take Tamsulosin and Finasteride

Just wondered if anyone else is suffering similarly.

Uterine Fibroids :: Weight Loss After Uterine Artery Embolization

OK, not weight loss exactly, but a reduction in size!

I'm down to have uterine artery embolization this year, but I look at various forums and women have said they've noticed 'a slight reduction'.

I had wished to go back to my usual dress size - naturally this is not a priority for the NHS, which I fully understand, but what is the best procedure to have the 'bulge' completely disappear?

Asked the hospital, but they were quite rude about it all. Is there anyone who's had this procedure done? Did it completely go?

Women Pelvic Pain :: Chronic Prostatitis

I have had CP for almost 3 years. I can't remember life without it or being able to sit down in real comfort. I have had all the hospital tests and regularly have a well-man check every autumn. I still try to keep fit and go walking and having recently retired so I am determined not to let it spoil my life. You always continue to worry that it will not turn into something else. I probably don't take as many pain-killers anti anti-inflammatory drugs as I should because you feel that can't be good for you as well. I dream of the day it will go but I fear it will be around for a long time yet, if not for ever.

Chronic Prostatitis Or BPH? Unable To Empty Bladder

For the last couple of weeks, I’ve had this uncomfortable feeling of not being able to empty my bladder completely. I also have a delay of hesitation when I’m urinating. I told my doctor about that, and he said that I probably have BPH or chronic prostatitis. I’m not sure what’s the difference between those two conditions.

Prostate :: Chronic Prostatitis For 18 Years - My Experience

I am 36. I have chronic prostatitis for 18 years, that's half my life. My experience in the disease and treatment follows:

The pain is intense and crippling. I have to be in bed all the time. Intense spasms. Symptoms move from urethra to prostate, back, ass, testicles so when you feel you finished with a symptom there starts another. I also may have difficulty urinating and some time ejaculating. This condition has remained idle for a total of 6 years out of 18 and whenever I feel it is gone I have a really good flare up the very next day. Idle means I am not in pain but I get to wet my pants after urinating.. That is the closest I can have to normal life. My sex life is not good because I get erectile dysfunction when chronic prostatitis is active. When it moves to being idle there is a tendency for restoration of erectile capacity however it is clear to me that I do not respond to visual stimuli any more . Reason for ED is venous leakage. Location of pain is as such that I frequently check both my urinary system and intestines.

Findings: High bladder neck, non typical inflammation of colon, prostate has no infection

Medical checks so far: Urethroscopy, Colonoscopy. prostate, testicular, bladder, kidney ultrasounds. urine and prostate fluid cultures.

All cultures have come back negative. Bladder ultrasound shows some urine remaining after fully urinating.

Experience with medication: I have used antibiotics, a-blockers, mesalazine for my intestines and cortisone (buddy cole). For ED I have used Viagra and Cialis.

When I have flare ups NO medication works to control the pain. Or it may work for some weeks and then all of a sudden stop working. Medication for ED seems to be effective provided my symptoms are either gone or are not too intense. Symptoms come and go and it seems I cannot really control them.

Psychological impact: I am desperate and seriously considering suicide when I have flare ups

Social impact: No friends left. I do not have the energy to move out of bed

Fertility: Thankfully no problems whatsoever. However I am extremely worried whether my offspring will have the same problems as I do.

Viagra And BPH (Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia)

Has anyone taken Viagra to help with BPH issues? I take finasteride (Proscar) and Uroxatral for BPH issues and these drugs help immensely along with herbal remedies. I am sexually active and when I take Viagra to help my performance I notice that my urinary flow improves immensely. As a test I started this week to take 50Mg of Viagra daily and I noticed the best urinary flow I have had in a long time and was wondering if anyone else had similar experiences?

Thyroid Nodule :: Close To Carotid Artery - Difficult Biopsy

Just had a thyroid ultra done..showed a 9.7x7x7 cm nodule adjacent to the left carotid artery (I have lots of cysts which have already been biopsied)..after much discussion we did try to do biopsy, but because I have a short neck, and they were unable to tip my head back enough to do the biopsy without hitting the artery, I was sent home with instructions that I should have another ultra in 6 months..should I be worried, they said its small, but if we can't biopsy it, whats next..I'm off to see my primary doc today..they also asked if I had Hashi's, maybe I should be put on meds to try and shrink the nodule?

Cardiovascular :: LAD Artery Is Narrowing Again 10 Months Post Heart Attack

In May 2015 I suffered a small heart attack according to my consultant, it was a bank holiday, i was told that there was no consultant until the following week

Over the weekend I was monitored and on the Tuesday went down to laboratory to investigate the causes. They found that the LAD was 90 % blocked and the RCA and LMS were moderate , 3 stents were fitted and I was given medication to control the Colestral , the cardiologist told me I have a good heart and to push every thing to the back of my mind and don't let it control me

I found as time went by month on month that I was still

Getting niggles and angina pain , the angina pain I found difficult and still do find in hard to differentiate , I may now understand as I was taking far to much GTN X 6 instead of one per year. I find I can walk for

Miles and go to the gym with no issues , but what s confusing me when i have been decorating over 3 months period bending low and reaching high to paint gives me angina pain and it's harder to breath , then my heart rate drops from average of 62 to 43 .

9 months on and I've been back in twice with false alarms getting pain

Last month 26/2 was getting checked out for AF as I had a erratic heartbeat, they were concerned and explained the how the Atrial chamber when pulsing transfer the blood to ventricles and if my heart is missing beats the worry is its retaining blood and this may clot and lead to strokes . However after the investigation they did no do

Anything but gave me two options I was quite shocked 1 CABG or try another stent

I've been out of work now for a 3 months as work on contracts so really need to be back in work, however I gave my wishes to try another stent as the LAD is starting to Narrow before the point of insertion , previously I was informed arteries take a life time to get blocked how can this happen in 9 months with careful food planning and medication being taken, since the blast hospital

Visit I have changed medication on atorvastatin to simvastatin. There was no mention when I came out of theatre about my erratic heartbeat but found it was slightly worse than before the procedure ....

Is Prostatitis An Indication Of An HIV Infection?

Unprotected sex with a female that I know well (but do you really know people? she says i have nothing to worry about) , happened approx 7 weeks ago.  Approximately 3 weeks post, was diagnosed with Prostatitis. I'm a 46 y/o male and have crohn's.  The provider stated usually caused by bacteria, or often times is an unknown cause. All my blood work CBC, CMP etc came back within normal ranges.  We did a gonorrhea and Chlamydia test via urine specimen and it was negative as well.  Antibiotic, seemed to clear it up, though still seem to have mild flare now and then.

I googled the condition just to look for some additional information. I see that it is one of the most common urologic conditions for men and seems to hit the 40-50 year range most.  I was concerned when I saw that HIV was listed.  To this I am freaked out and have become very stressed.  The provider wasn't even going to do the G&C tests until I asked if we should - and she didn't seem too concerned.

Question:
1) Is Prostatitis an indication of an HIV infection? An ARS symptom? Do I have a need to worry? (understanding a test is the way to rule out, which I will have done)

2) Can my test at this point in time be considered conclusive once completed?
