Weight Problems :: To Juice, Or Not To Juice?

I am seriously looking at beginning Jason Vale's "7lb in 7 days" Juicing plan, so much so I have already downloaded the book on my Kindle (as this is more than half price of buying the book) and am 40% through it. I am not totally "sold" on the idea, not because I don't think this is a good idea but mainly because I am not sure I can have the determination to stick to it!

I love my food. I have no other pleasure in life (don't drink/smoke/buy bags or shoes/have nails done or spoil myself with Spa Days or clothes shopping and as I have children, I find I don't go out much either!). Throughout my entire life, food has been a treat, a pleasure, a celebration, a commiseration - any event has always been celebrated or commemorated round the dinner table or with some kind of "treat")

Thought it may help/motivate me if I kept a mini "blog" on here (??) as to how, why and what happens as this may (or may not - probably the latter!) help anyone else who is thinking of doing it and doesn't know what to expect.

90% of the girls at work have done it and one member of my family is currently doing it (she is now on Phase 2 and 3 of the plan) and they all swear by it!

This is by no means my "quick fix" and I am fully aware and totally understand that this is a "health change" which is the reasons I am doing it but to lose a few pounds in the process can only be a bonus. Don't get me wrong, I NEED to lose about 4-5 STONE but my main draw to this Plan is the health benefits. Yes, I am over weight, Yes I have high blood pressure, Yes I have high cholesterol, No my blood sugars are not too high (thank God) and Yes I do have heart disease, stroke and diabetes in my family plus Cancer on all sides.

I am now 45 years old and need to kick my butt in order to stay alive long enough to see my kids married and to be around long enough to enjoy my life - because I sure ain't at the moment!

I feel lethargic, have a huge "can't be bothered" attitude, have absolutely no energy or interest in anything, do Zero activities and would much rather sit on the sofa watching a chick flick than walking briskly round the park with my dog/kids! I admit, I am LAZY.

Now, the thought of starting this process is VERY appealing and I am all for it with renewed determination every time I have just finished a Spaghetti Bolognese with Garlic Bread!

But, can I do it - YES I CAN!

Watch this space!

Blood Pressure :: Losartan - Sleepiness And Memory Loss

I have been on 50MG of losartan for around 5 months. The worst side effect was sleepiness and memory loss. I started taking it at night because i was sleepy all day. This worked well for a while. lowered my BP from 160/94 to 138/80 . Sleepiness wore off then came back with a vengeance. Memory loss was awful. I went to see my Dr. and we decided to try and half my dose. I still take at night. it really puts me to sleep. This has been about 2 weeks. The last couple days have been strange. I feel depressed and fatigued and my mind is cloudy. Very difficult to concentrate. It's worse in the morning and seems to improve as the day goes on. The thing is, I'm not positive it's the meds, and not my anxiety creeping in. I'm considering quitting the losartan all together and seeing what happens. Since starting the losartan, I have lost 22 lbs, am eating better, and exercising. My BP this morning was 145/85 . I will take it again this evening.

Venlafaxine Withdrawal - Dizziness, Dry Mouth, Excess Sleepiness, Confusion, Mental Oblivions

I've been on venlafaxine for about 2 years, taking a dose of 150 mg per day. I used to take the generic pills which are cheaper. To be honest I didn't even know there was an 'original' one, named Effexor, until last friday.

When I changed town I continued the treatment with another doctor, and he suggested i came off the drug. I thought I'd try, and for the first month I reduced from 150mg to 75mg. Nothing wrong there. Then I took another step and reduced from 75 to 37,5mg and in the fourth day I collapsed.

I had this breakdown, feeling all kind of weird symptoms: dizziness, dry mouth, excess sleepiness, confusion, mental oblivions (memory lapses), total apathy, total loss of libido.

I got really scared and tried to go back on my own since I was off town and couldn't talk to the doctor.

I took for 3 days the 150 mg pills but that didn't help. I consulted another doctor and he suggested to take a 107,5 mg dose (75+37,5) for 20 days and then restore the original 150 mg dose afterwards.

It's been 6 days since I started taking this dose and I still feel awful! I feel like I'm not the same anymore!!! It's the strangest thing ever. I had to ask for a job-absent license cause I can't work in these conditions.

One other thing is that a moved from the generic pills to the Effexor (from Pfizer - Wyeth) - the doc suggested that - and I don't know if that is making things worse...

I feel really awkward, useless, like my brain is in slow motion. I've been thinking about going' cold turkey since taking back venlafaxine did not help.

Gonorrhea Increases The Risk Of HIV?

I just tested positive for gonorrhea in my throat. The test came out negative for all other STDs.

I had oral sex last week with a guy (I gave him a blowjob). If the gonorrhea was already there from a previous sexual contact, did that increase my risk for HIV when I gave that guy a blowjob (without having had semen in my mouth)?

Temporomandibular Joint Disorder Talking Increases Tinnitus And Hyperacusis

I had an accident at work October 2004 (head injury), I complained of hissing in my ears and my hearing was hypersensitive, I had a hearing test at NHS audiology, I was issued with noise generators. I also complained of jaw ache pain, so I visited my Dentist, he had taken an x-ray that shown no problems with teeth. May 2005 after many minor accidents I was referred for neurological examinations and MRI scans. I was diagnosed with Post Concussion Syndrome. Tinnitus and Hyperacusis, I have complained from day one, that my Tinnitus gets louder when I turn my head, it sounds as though it’s from my ears! But I have realised that when I have been talking in a crowded room for a long time this is more prominent. I can live with Tinnitus and Hyperacusis that seems to be in my head due to Neuro rehab CBT, and Tinnitus therapy, could it be I am temporally damaging my jaw cartilage or muscles through raising my voice, I feel discomfort and fullness of ears, the Tinnitus and Hyperacusis that then radiates from my ears lasts for hours or a couple days, but aggravates the Tinnitus and Hyperacusis that seems to be in my head, this is when I am accident prone. I am 58 and my occupation is lorry driver. I feel that when I explain this to the medical profession that they do not listen. My dentist suggested trigeminal nerve, cartilage, TMJD, I have lived with this condition for 4 and half years but would prefer a better quality of life. I would be very grateful for any information.

Sertraline :: Advice On Stopping Sertraline

I had some terrible problems last november stopping venlafaxine to start sertraline.  I realised I have tried over 6 different meds and have decided to get back to the start and take none.  I have been to a doctor today who was not very helpful and as I have never been given the right advice about cross tapering I am not confident about stopping.  I started with 50mg, 1 december 2014, in mid January increased to 100mg and to be honest things are worse in the way I feel.  No libido (I am a happily married 46 year old woman who used to enjoy my husbands attention), No motivation, No sense of enjoyment in anything, overeating, overspending and little or no self worth.  I have been told stop 100mg and take 50mg for 4 weeks and then review.  I am thinking maybe 75mg for a week, then 50mg for a week, then 25mg for a week then nothing....  Any ideas?  I have been on one antidepressant or another since 2009.

Nausea :: Past Few Months, Random Nausea Lasts A Day Or Two

Over the last few months I've been randomly getting nauseated. It usually lasts a day or two and only has actually caused me to vomit a few times. However recently it has become more severe, and more common and even more recently has become paired with an uncomfortable dizziness and weakness in my legs. My mother believed it was morning sickness so I took a pregnancy test which proved negative and haven't missed any periods in the 3 months since I was last sexually active so I'm fairly certain I am not pregnant.

Allergic To Apple Juice?

I've recently started suffering from a series of sore throats and tongue Ulcers. This is strange, as I am healthy mid 20's male - i run 4/5 times a week, i have a very healthy diet, and I don't smoke, drink, or do drugs. It got worse last week when i developed a little under 30 ulcers on my tongue, and had an exceptionally sore throat. It died away almost as soon as it started, some 24 hours later. I went to the doctor, but beyond the usual reasons (stress, stopping smoking, acidic food) he could think of no reason for them. This afternoon, I had a drink of apple juice, and within 10 minutes, my throat was closing and felt really sore. It occurred to me that over the past two weeks, I could link all of my outbreaks/worst days to days when i had drunk fresh fruit juice that may have contained apple juice - I usually drink a fruit juice with two or three fruits in it, and they use apple juice to thin the mix of pulpier fruits (such as mango, banana, papaya etc), or to make juice go further (cranberry, raspberry or pomegranate for example). I think i'm fine with orange based fruit drinks, or at least i don't recall Is it possible to be allergic to apple juice?

Can Cranberry Juice Cure UTI?

Recently, questions like can the UTI be cured by cranberry juice or can cranberry juice cure UTI were posted on the internet and searched by netizen constantly. But can the UTI be cured by the cranberry juice?

Cranberry is a small sour red berry that grows on a small bush and is used in cooking. So the cranberry juice is a juice of the sour red berry. But In 2010 a study conducted by the Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Massachusetts showed that the ingredients in cranberry juice named condensed tannins limit the ability of E. coli bacteria to cling to other bacteria.

However, the study conducted in Massachusetts also showed that without other bacteria, E. coli's ability to grow and reproduce is limited. Therefore, the conclusion of the research is cranberry juice helps prevent UTI but cannot cure the UTI.

Since the cranberry juice can only prevent the UTIs for people, how to cure the UTI if one gets this condition? One herbal medicine named diuretic and anti-inflammatory pill is highly recommended.

Diverticula :: Anyone Tried Raw Garlic And Cranberry Juice?

I'm just trying to recover from a flare up and as I'm quite new to this horrible disease I am making some mistakes along the way. I've been on a low residue diet for two weeks & have been ok & felt fairly normal at the weekend, but then yesterday felt a bit constipated & bloated so I started taking my psyllium husk supplements & a spoonful of Aloe Vera juice, I only took two PH but this morning felt very sick again & had to rush to the loo so many times. I don't have any pain & the only way I can describe it is that my tummy feels very tender, so I think I've tried to rush things. I've been reading SO many different versions of how long it takes to recover & what you should be eating? I think I am fairly confident that I have been eating the right things so not sure why I ended up constipated? A few people have said that cranberry juice is really good & also that you should eat raw garlic as it acts as a natural antibiotic. I have read posts on here saying that you should avoid garlic.
