Liver :: Daclatasvir Or Sovaldi Lupus Erythematosus Patients?

One of my friend has Lupus Erythematosus and needs a liver transplant, but during the blood transfusion, she got HCV. She wants to take daclatasvir or sovaldi(sofosbuvir) for curing HCV, but is worried that daclatasvir or sovaldi(sofosbuvir) would have side effect that is bad for Lupus Erythematosus. So I wonder if Lupus Erythematosus patients take daclatasvir or Sovaldi(sofosbuvir) for curing HCV? Were there any successful or failure previous examples?

Lupus :: Systemic And Choking

I need to determine if lupus is the cause of a swallowing and choking problem I'm having. For the past year or so, whenever I get a cold or allergy congestion, I choke on the mucus. It's been getting progressively worse and last week it happened when we were on vacation and my husband had to get an ambulance to take me to the ER because I was choking and wheezing. They gave me 60 mg. of prednisone for a week, which my allergist adjusted to a lower dose, gave me an inhaler, oxygen and a breathing treatment. I'm also taking a heavy duty antibiotic for a sinus infection. The thing is, I've gotten colds and congestion all my life like anybody else, but I don't know of anyone else who chokes on the mucous. Then this morning I started to wonder if lupus and/or Sjogrens is the culprit and making my throat swollen. I'm going to ask my rheumy when I see him in Dec. but in the meantime I live in fear of getting another cold or allergy symptom. I just can't go through that again. It was the most frightening thing that's ever happened to me. I have been resisting an increase in my methotrexate, but if lupus is the problem, I will gladly up my dose. Does this sound familiar to any of you? Has your doctor told you lupus is affecting your throat?

Lupus :: Lupus And Vasculitis Tests Clear-MRI To Rule Out IBC-explanations Needed

I've had odd symptoms for many stinging pains, muscle twitching rashes, pancreatitis that is chronic but clear via scans.

Well, almost 3 weeks ago, a large red mark appeared on left breast. I've been going back and forth to doctor as I've wanted to rule out inflammatory breast cancer-it presents with redness etc but no lesions, hard to diagnose. Today when I went back, the doctor felt nodes under my armpit, confirmed during ultrasound, but said they looked benign and small. He said actually it could pop up from autoimmune. He did admit it was odd. It was on the same side as affected breast and not the other. I'm going to get an MRI of my breast as IBC doesn't show on mammogram or ultrasound often.

I've had swollen nodes in the past. I noticed a few times on my jaw line.

I haven't been diagnosed with lupus, tests many years ago were totally clear as were vasculitits tests. But curious if anyone has had nodes on one part of the body pop up. Im praying its not IBC. I'd much rather it be something else. IBC is the most aggressive form of BC and spreads in a matter of weeks, so grasping for other explanations

Sjogren's And Systemic Sclerodermatitis - Exercises?

I have sjogren's and systemic sclerodermatitis. I have been told to do some exercises as these may help stretch connective tissues and alleviate some stiffness in scleroderma. With sjogren's, i just feel exhausted most of the time and I wonder if doing some exercises could help or aggravate my exhaustion. Is there anyone out there who could point out to me what exercises best suit me?

Being Patient With Your Achilles Tendon

After a period of much indulgence at the end of 2015 I am pleased to say I can touch my toes.  Having suffered a ruptured soleus on one foot followed by achilles tendonitis on the other, the biggest problem I faced was not being able to run; ironic considering this is how I caused the injuries.  Now in the recovery period I have clocked up some distance walking, but have learnt some valuable lessons. Before doing any walking, stretch thoroughly the affected area.   On days that you don't walk, stretch as if you were going to walk anyway.  Finally, rest.  Muscle-tendon units are essentially springs.  They work better when they have warmed up, so bouncing or ballistic stretching is counterproductive.  Whilst a common problem found during recovery is underestimating the amount of static stretching that is required before exercise, the long period of recovery also leads to side effects of under- and over-using other muscles leading to compensation problems.  Stretching therefore needs to be comprehensive and include all muscles in the legs to ensure the recovery process is not a step backwards.  Happy New Year to all.

Hyperthyroidism :: Natural Treatments For Graves Disease Patient?

I have posted to this Board before about what has made a difference to my recovery from Graves. In addition to the medication Methimazole, I started on Regular L-Carnitine and then later Acetyl-L-Carnitine and vitamin D supplementation. Others on the Board have posted about the addition of selenium as well as other natural herbs such as Melissa and Bugleweed. I saw this posting on another Hyperthyroid Board and the author has given me permission to copy it to this Board as follows:

I am shocked that our doctor's don't know more about the thyroid, autoimmune disease and its connection to the gut. I went to a naturopath when I was first diagnosed in 2012 because my husband and I didn't like what the endo suggested. After seeing the naturopath we made a connection between my occasional IBS type symptoms, bloating and my thyroid. We started a probiotic and immune support vitamin called Moducare. Then she ran food sensitivity testing through All Tests labs (some MDs are skeptical about this but it worked for my stomach). I had all four antibodies for graves and Hashimoto's and I had symptoms from both and almost undetectable TSH levels. She removed gluten and dairy from my diet and pulled out foods I tested sensitive to like yeast. Then added Lycopus Virginicus and lemon balm tincture to my routine along with vitamin D, B complex and CoQ10. I finally figured out though that the real cure for me was going gluten free and dairy free. No more bloating, no stomach cramps, gas or the big D. Then I found out there is a link between Celiac disease, gluten sensitivity, leaky gut and Thyroid disease. There is a natural graves treatment FB page I am on and a lot of us have cured ourselves of Graves using dietary modifications. I went into remission within 3 months of this diet. I have been normal for over a year now. You really need to be tested for celiac before you start the diet. If you don't have it (it can lead to thyroid disease and then other autoimmune disease when left untreated) then you are sensitive to something you are eating and are most likely dealing with leaky gut. Someday the MDs will catch up with what is really going on here. Our pediatrician is so progressive and knows all this stuff but warned us that a lot of her colleagues are not there yet when it comes to medicine."

Took Unwanted 72 But Still No Periods?

I had unprotected sex with my gf on 13th and 14th sep. 2015. then she took unwanted 72 after 48 hours. then again we did sex on 15,16th sep. bt this time i didn't ejaculate inside. on 18th she has got some bleeding which lasts for 3 days. her bleeding was stopped on 20th sep. her last period was on 5th sep. and lasts upto 8th sep. she has not got her periods till now. so my concern is-

1. does that bleeding after taking unwanted 72 was her period?

2. if the bleeding was withdrawal bleeding, then does it mean that pill has worked?

she has still not got her period and she did HPT on 23rd oct. but that came out negative. when she will get her period? and is there any chances of being pregnant?

Lupus :: Should We Go Gluten Free?

I have recently "not quite" been diagnosed yet with Lupus however I have certain signs not yet enough for an official diagnosis. High ANA is one, pericardial effusion (mild), no inflammation or symptoms yet. Would have never known I had a problem until the Dr. told me I did!! I used to have severe stomach problems for years, cramps, diarrhea after eating a meal. For hours I would suffer. But for the past 4 or so years it has stopped completely and I am wondering if that is when my immune system started to go overactive due to a possible gluten allergy and now turning into an auto immune disease as a result. I am starting a gluten free diet, today is only day 3, i want to suppress and relax my immune system by not giving it so much work to do!! Unconfuse it and calm it down by eating gluten free and healthier. So nutrients can get absorbed better? Add probiotics, making sure to get Vitamin K...D, B12 etc. (I know K is a big one for Lupus) Does anyone have any views on this or have tried diets like this?
