Pulsatile Tinnitus In My Left Ear

Mar 15, 2016

I've had tinnitus in my right ear since I was about 10 or 11, my brother has it too and so it seems genetic, anyways, this has never really bothered me. What's been bothering me is this pulsatile tinnitus in my left ear. I developed this in June last year, at first I had crazy anxiety about it, but eventually I got used to it. It tends to be louder at night, happens when I bend down quickly, and the noise stops when I press on the vein in my neck. I had gone to an ENT in September, did a hearing test, that was fine, and he quickly examined me. He took a look down my throat, up my nose, and in my ear, he couldn't see anything wrong and told me that this happens sometimes and will go away on its own, but if it doesn't within 6 or 9 months (can't remember which) then I should come back.

Well, it's coming up to that time and although the noise doesn't bother me too much anymore it is still there. I also have anxiety in regards to my health and it can be pretty bad, I guess I'm just really worried as to whether or not there could be a serious underlying cause for this.

I'm assuming a scan of some sorts will be done but at the same time I guess I'm scared to get this.

I was wondering if anyone has had this type of tinnitus, and if so was the underlying cause found, did it go away on its own, or is it still being coped with?

Pulsatile Tinnitus In Left Ear Plus Slight Hearing Loss

I recently had a brain MRI and there is nothing wrong with my brain. However these symptoms are changing my daily life and making my depression and anxiety far worse than they have ever been before. I'll give you a quick run through of the symptoms that have appeared and worsened during the last year.

Pulsatile tinnitus in left ear plus slight hearing loss.

Migraines more often to the point where I cannot speak or lay down or walk.

I now need glasses, I used to have perfect vision and now cannot see any further than about 10 feet in front of me.

A few months ago I suddenly couldn't write of hold my fork to feed myself, my hand just wouldn't work. I though of it as a one off. It's worse now, it happens more often and the shaking happens quite bad and in both arms and hands, sometimes I have spasms and often wake myself up by punching, kneeing or headbutting the wall next to my bed.

I have told the doctor all of this but have been told if the mri is clear than there is nothing they can do.. I am changing doctors (my current surgery is known for messing patients around and misdiagnosing). But any input on what's happening? The tremors have kinda threw me off guard, it's very uncomfortable and like I said I can't hold things, feed myself or anything when it happens.

Hearing :: Pulsatile Tinnitus After Stapedectomy

So, I bit the bullet and had the same surgeon who operated successfully on my left ear operate on the right ear yesterday. I had a much harder time with nausea and recovering from the general anesthesia than the first operation. The first time, I threw up once and that was it. Yesterday, I was throwing up a lot, and then they give me a phenergan injection, which just made me so weak and tired that the nurses had to get me dressed. And they were insistent that my friends take me home at noon, because they were getting the people for the 2 pm operations ready. My poor friend was driving with me in the back throwin up into a plastic bag.

Right now, I'm having a lot of pulsatile tinnitus in the right ear, which was not the case with the left ear operation. It's very loud because it's not masked by any external sound and is very distracting. I had pulsatile tinnitus in that ear before, and now it's even louder, unfortunately. As tired as I was last night, it kept on waking me up. Because I had some mild nasal congestion, the surgeon has me on oral antibiotics and nasal spray for a few days. I have very little discharge on the cotton balls so far, but it looks like a piece of the gelfoam packing came out on one of the cotton balls (at least I hope that it's gelfoam and not my eardrum!).

When I had the first operation, the right ear "popped" and I began to hear low frequencies sounds 8 days after the operation. Can't wait to get some relief from the tinnitus with external sounds.

Pulsatile Tinnitus, TMJ Dysfunction And Echoing Of Noise In My Head

I would be interested if anyone else has this. I've had what I think is Pulsatile tinnitus for a year or so. I only hear it when it's very quiet, when I'm lying in bed or reading quietly. I believe it can be associated with temporomandibular joint dysfunction. In addition I get episodes for one to three days when any external speaking be it face to face, TV, radio echoes round in my head and is amplified. I suspect the sinuses are involved too.

The GP isn't that interested but he did prescribe a nasal irrigation which can help along with inhalation of peppermint oil in hot water, that really gets up the passages! I can't seem to work out what causes the attacks of the echoing, tho twice it's happened when the weather has been v windy or cold.

Using Perindopril [ACE Inhibitor] And Developed Pulsatile Tinnitus As A Side Effect?

Is there anyone out there who is taking the anti-hypertensive Perindopril [ACE Inhibitor] and has developed Pulsatile Tinnitus as a side effect? I take this drug and do not have any side effects only that last February I was diagnosed with slight hearing loss for which I was given hearing aids and had Pulsatile Tinnitus which sent me rapidly to the G.P. from where I was referred to the ENT dept. at the hospital. I've had a MRI brain scan, Intercranial CT scan and Doppler scan on my neck in the Vascular Dept. where I saw a consultant. He told me there was nothing wrong in my brain or my ears but he couldn't help my problem as it is very rare and he hadn't seen a similar case for 17yrs. He said maybe my brain will eventually get fed up of listening to my heart beat swishing through my left ear. Has anyone experienced the same?

Tinnitus In Left Ear Since Head Trauma

25 months ago I fell on my left ear, hit my head. The blow was really strong, I was out for a few seconds. The left ear was slightly bleeding for a few days. I am having tinnitus since then. Couldn't really hear with that ear very well, but it took about 2 weeks to get back around 90%. The doctor said it's common and it will be gone, but it hasn't!!!! Now I think I have full hearing, but tinnitus is still here! It's so annoying, what can I do?

Vascular Disorders :: Numb Left Leg And Strange Scars On Left Side Of Stomach

I have had a numb left leg for about 5 months now from my thigh down to my knee and it seems to be getting worse and going down to the rest of my left leg. I also have these weird scars that look red or bloody from the inside and there is 3 of them and they showed up out of nowhere overnight. My doctor has given me blood tests and MRI's and nothing has shown up abnormal.

Tinnitus :: 3 Different Ringing Noises

I am 17 now and I have had tinnitus for only about 6 months and I already think I is really annoying!! I'v got about 3 different ringing noises, one (the first) in my right ear, the second is a higher pitched one in the middle area, (I cant tell where that is coming from) and sometimes I get an extremely high pitched loud ringing in my left ear which comes and goes (It's so loud that when it comes I actually turn my head to see where the noise is coming from.)

My problem is that I have no idea how what caused it. I ruled out loud noises because I can't think of a situation where I have been exposed to very loud music.

One day I just woke up with tinnitus. My hearing was reduced for the first few days and then fully returned.

Recently I think it has got worse.

I have seen my GP twice and now I will be seen by an ENT DR. Tinnitus doesn't stop me sleeping, but it is the only thing I can hear at night and that is extremely annoying.

The worst problem I have is that I find it very hard to concentrate when doing schoolwork as this is when I would normally need silence. I find it very difficult to concentrate with noise so tinnitus upsets me quite a lot.

Tinnitus :: Relief With Maskers ?

I am a 65 year old female, I have had tinnitus for as long as I can remember but lately it has become unbearable, I don't know why maybe just getting older I cannot cope with it as I used to! I have told doctor before about it and was told to live with it, which I have been doing! I recently went for a hearing test within audiologist and she said I have an age related hearing loss of 25% but not bad enough to need aids!  I have bought a masker for one ear which thankfully seems to be helping the one side, but can hear ringing still in other side so have now ordered one for the other ear and hope that this will finally bring me relief and stop me having to get up every morning at 4am as I can't sleep any longer than that with the constant ringing!  Anyone else found relief with maskers?

Tinnitus :: Along With Arthritis That Keep Getting Worse

Started getting tinnitus about 3 or more years ago and it has fluctuated a lot but constantly been an issue. Sometimes it gets better only to then get worse. I have tried to keep a positive attitude about this and had succeeded for awhile. Then my hands started to hurt from too many video games and about 4 months ago i got what i believe to be rheumatoid arthritis. Haven't seen a doctor yet for either, my insurance is complicated. I know i have tinnitus and also have had sinus pressure and allergies making it worse. I am in pain most days because of tinnitus and pressure in my ears and at least slight if not worse pain from arthritis all the time. It only seems to get worse. I cant exercise as this makes the arthritis worse in my elbows. Here's the kicker, i am only 24 years old and my philosophy towards pain has always been ignore it til it goes away. Mind over matter. Years of ignoring these symptoms have made living my life very difficult. Every time i adapt, the symptoms get worse and honestly both of these things though medically treatable, cannot be cured and honestly i don't think much can be done. Any advice other than see a doctor would be appreciated. I will see a doctor as soon as my insurance has been changed which i am working on now.

Tinnitus With Whooshing Sound

Just over 2 months ago, a whooshing sound began in my left ear and it has been there ever since. It is much worse when I'm in a quiet  room. I've now seen a consultant who thinks it's related to my pulse rate. He sent me for an MRI scan. I'm now awaiting the results. Has anyone else suffered with this and if so how was it cured, if it ever was?

Tinnitus And Hearing Loss At 17

i loss my hearing at the age of 17, doctors were shocked because this usually happens to people over 30... they said that the loss was due to stress and sadness but i couldn't figure out what exactly i was stressed about. i lost 98% of my hearing in the left ear and they send me to therapy straight away, i missed a month and a half of my senior year of high school due to this. after the therapy my ear improved drastically and now i can hear 40% and have completely lost 60%. i'm 18 now and there isn't much i can do anymore. i will soon go and get a hearing aid but i still am not so sure about it. i have coped with the loss off hearing but the ringing in my ear makes me go crazy. so my question is, do you recommend a hearing aid? will it stop of perhaps lessen the ringing in my ear?

Tinnitus :: Being Hit In The Nose In A Soccer Game

I developed tinnitus about 1-2 months after being hit in the nose in a soccer game. It deviated my nose nose, but I didn't think too much of it. Later though I started to get a ringing in mainly my right ear but it was sometimes both sides and felt like it was coming from inside my head. At first I thought it was just headaches from stress.

I had it for about 2 years. Very bad at times. I couldn't sleep properly. Couldn't be in silence. I was very very hard not to be angry. I couldn't control my anger and headaches at times. My 2 young kids and wife had to at the bad times stay clear of me. One of the bad times I got so angry over nothing really significant that I smashed my head into the wall and made a hole in it. Il never forget my 4 year old daughters face, she cried so much. It turned me into an animal.

I saw gp doctors, and the best ent doctors I could get to. I tried all types of things, laser light treatment, always having background noise on (even during sleep). But no one could exactly determine the cause or treatment.

Eventually I had a nose operation to fix the deviation in the nose. I couldn't breath through it hardly at all, and thought it may help the tinnitus. It took a while to get the operation because I had to wait on the public system. But if I knew it would have helped so much I would have paid to get it done privately.

Post operation almost straight away the tinnitus was gone. I can breath better. I sleep with out waking up during the night. Life is good again.

I heard a few others mention that nose spray to clear their nose helped. And that helped me to ounce I figured out the nose could be related to tinnitus. I used 'Dimetapp 12 hour nasal spray'. But it's not good to use too many days in a row apparently.

Tinnitus :: Symptoms, Sufferings And Treatment ?

Since last three month I am suffering from Tinnitus – sound like pressure cooker whistling/ summer insect sound coming out constantly and loudly from my Right ear. I have no idea of actual reason of my present symptom of Tinnitus

2. Location of symptom - In right ear

3. What first started it off - May be after a cold and cough infection

4. When it's worse = in evening and night.

5. When it feels better = in day time.

6. My sleep pattern and details of any recurring dreams – Before suffering from Tinnitus I have silent sleep without any disturbance. As about dreams some time I saw flood water dream otherwise no issues.

7. What I am sensitive to – Heat, I don’t like summer temperature.

8. My state of mind – I am not an angry man, normal behavior can work in cold mind and can handle a situation by my brain without confusing (fears, anxieties, attitudes, moods, etc)

9. Any desires or aversions for particular foods, - like sweet items.

10. Details of any major diseases suffered in past – In fact I have normal body and health. I have not suffered any diseases. Oh yea, in 1994 I have small pox.

11. Details of any reactions to other medicines taken.- I have taken some homeopathic medicines of 200c power without guidance’s of a doctor, the medicines were published in a local news paper for acidity. I have a doubt that after taking those medicines without proper advice, tinnitus has attacked me. I consulted ENT specialist, took antibiotic and medicines, but no result.

Tinnitus :: Extremely Loud Ringing In My Right Ear

I am 16 and have had mild tinnitus for years, with an unknown cause and I could only hear it whilst trying to fall asleep. But after going to a concert last night, I woke up this morning with an extremely loud ringing in my right ear. It is loud enough that I am hearing it throughout the day, no matter what I am doing.

I am also experiencing mild pain in my right ear, but not experiencing any hearing loss.

I would just like to know what I should do, how I can cope with this, and if it may go away, or subside mildly.

Tinnitus :: In Sync With Blood Flow ?

Anyone know of blood flow or cardiac problems which cause tinnitus? For nearly a year I have had constant ringing/hissing in both ears but occasionally get pulses and vibrations in my left ear in sync with my heartbeat. I also have a constant painless throbbing in my forehead and back of head that is also in sync with my heartbeat.

I have had an MRI of brain/ears, blood tests, an examination by an ENT doctor and no problems were found. Blood pressure is also normal

I am 30 years and have no other health problems.

8 Months After Head Injury And Still Have Tinnitus

Hello all, I was in a roll over car accident about 8 months ago and had a head injury(concussion) on the right side. Ever since then, I've had a pretty constant hissing sound in my right ear. It's not too bad during the day but is definitely worse at night. If I lay on my right side with the ear on the pillow, its not to noticable but soon as I switch sides or lay on my back I can hear it. Lately, I feel like I can hear it more during the day as well and have had some recent headaches on the right side. I have had some hearing loss before the car accident and some occasional ringing before but never a constant hissing sound like this. I have not told the doctors or anybody because I know there is no cure for it and I'd rather not have to go through a bunch of useless expensive tests to figure out the cause etc. I've been however debating lately if I should tell someone or not, or if I should just continue to try and cope with it. At the moment, I feel like telling any of the doctors would probably be useless and hoping it will just go away in time and not be a permanent thing. I'm also somewhat worried that if I do tell someone, the docs will think that this tinnitus is not from the head injury but from the previous hearing problems I've had. I could use some advice though and would appreciate it.

Tinnitus :: Weird Clicking Noise In Ear

I'm 23 and I've always had tinnitus in both ears but worse in my right. For about the last year I sometimes get this random light clicking noise in my right ear which sometimes happens once, twice or 10 times in very quick succession but then will just stop. It might not happen for a day or too and will suddenly come back again. There seems to be no pattern but happens more at work but might occur once or twice a day. The best way to describe it is a bit like a computer mouse clicking but a lot higher. I have no ear pain, blood or trouble hearing and any other symptoms. What is this? Can I cure it? Should I worry?
