Accent MC (2006-11) :: Hard To Start After Filling Gas Tank

Nov 3, 2016

My wife's 2007 Accent started having starting problems right after filling the tank. Is this an EVAP canister problem?

Accent LC (2000-05) :: Hard To Start When Filling Up The Tank

I have a hyundai accent, 2002, I have the typical hard to start when filling up the tank. My understanding is there are 2 Fuel Vapor Purge Valves, one in the rear next to the charcoal canister, the other is in the engine compartment attached to the intake manifold - is that correct?

Which purge valve is the culprit to the hard start after fueling the car? Why can I only find the rear purge valve when looking for parts - is the one up front a dealer only part?

Daewoo - Lanos :: Hard To Start After Filling Tank

We had a Hyundai with the same problem. Every time my nephew fills the tank when he goes to start it he has to gun the engine and it takes several attempts to start. Mechanic changed some fitting but it didn't do the trick. Only happens after tank is filled. Other than that car runs fine. Only 45k miles.

Accent MC (2006-11) :: Won't Start After Filling With Gas

I have a check engine light issue combined with another issue when I have trouble starting the car after filling with gas. I fill it from less than a quarter tank to a full tank and it takes 5 tries to start it. The code that I'm getting is P0171 which is a fuel system for bank 1 is too lean. It runs ok as far as I can tell, but I just bought it. Its a 2006 Accent with 68 k miles. Both events happened close to each other. The check engine light came on when I was driving on the expressway and quickly stopped since the exit had traffic backed up on it. It triggered the check engine light with a quarter tank of gas I filled it up and then it had trouble starting

I already took it back to the dealer and he just cleared the code. I'm really worried about the check engine light coming on for silly things. They said it just needed to be cleared. Does it always do this? What if there is a real problem? If I take it back and he doesn't fix it, when can I get into the lemon law type stuff? I bought this car since I thought it would be reliable, but it already says check engine. Its only been two weeks since I got it and already having issues.

Accent MC (2006-11) :: Hard Time Starting After Putting Fuel In Tank

My wife and i have an 07 accent 2 door and we have a very hard time starting the car after putting fuel in it. Tank level doesn't seem to affect this issue. The car has 160,000 km on it. I've replaced the coil packs already twice. After getting the car to start after putting fuel in it it struggles at idle for the first 15-30 sec and then bang problem is gone until the next time i put fuel in it.

Accent RB (2012+) :: CEL Started Flashing And Misfiring Shortly After Filling The Tank

2014 Accent 14,000 miles

Filled the tank and shortly thereafter there CEL started flashing and the car sounded like it was missing. It was towed to the dealer, and they said they cleared the light and could not get it to happen again.

When I next drove the car it ran fine for 20 minutes, then it started misfiring and the CEL started to flash. Had it towed to a different dealer, and they said the same thing. Cleared the light, but couldn't get it to happen again.

On the way home form the dealer, after about 20 minutes of driving - the same thing. Today, I started the car in the AM no light and running fine, drove around and town and in exactly 20 minutes it was misfiring again.

First dealer said it was a P0302 code.

Accent LC (2000-05) :: Pump Will Click And Stop Repeatedly When Filling Gas Tank

Recently, my Accent has been acting up (twice) while filling the tank. I haven't done any work on it that would cause this recently, but while fueling, the pump will click and stop repeatedly, as if the tank was full. It takes sometimes 20 minutes just to put 8 gallons in it. I've tried two separate pumps. Next fill-up, I'll try a different gas station because I've heard that can sometimes be a problem. They said their pumps weren't empty so that's not the case.

Accent LC (2000-05) :: Coolant Tank Filling But Not Draining Back Into Radiator

Having an issue with my 03' Accent. I'm having an issue of my coolant tank filling up but it is not being drawn back into the radiator when the engine cools down. I have replaced the radiator with a new unit because the filler neck of the original radiator was damaged sometime in the past and the cap would not seal good enough to hold pressure . Looks like heat damage to me but I don't know for sure. The system now holds pressure but now I'm having the current issue. My first thought was a head gasket issue creating pressure in the system and forcing coolant into the tank.

The car has 155k miles and runs good overall and is not overheating. I performed a "block check" test using the chemical method that detects combustion gasses in the cooling system and that test was negative. I also pressure tested the system by pressurizing to 16 psi and was unable to detect any leaks anywhere on the engine / radiator and the pressure did not drop until I released it. I guess the next thing to try will be a compression test to see if I have any low cylinders. So, for whatever reason my cooling system is not creating enough of a vacuum to draw the coolant back into the radiator when it cools down. Does this sound like a head gasket issue? The pic is of the original radiator filler neck damage.

Accent LC (2000-05) :: 2003 Cranks / Turns Over / Idles Very Low And Then Dies After Filling Tank

I have a 2003 hyundai accent gt 1.6v runs great other than when I get gas. As soon as I fill my tank the car doesn't want to start. It cranks turns over idles very low and then dies. I have to try to start it about 3 times before it will stay running. Starts perfectly fine in hot or cold weather only has problems right after filling gas tank. Started about a week ago. What could be the problem?

Passat (B5) :: 2000 1.8t Won't Start After Filling Gas Tank

Every time I go to fill up my gas tank it has trouble starting. It doesn't matter whether I use 91 89 or some other premium fuel. I have to crank it 4-6 times for about 6 seconds each time and then at the end of the last crank it will barely start. It will idle kinda rough for about 10 seconds and then until I go to fill up the gas tank it will run flawlessly, 27-31 mpg depending on driving style, starts up right away with out filling up the tank. The only other issue I have is an "emissions workshop" every time I start the car but I think that's just because of a bad check valve the I'm throwing a code for.

The car in question : VR6T 4 door 1996 golf

Kia - Optima :: 2004 - Won't Start After Filling Up Gas Tank?

For several years my husbands car "chugs" and barely starts after filling up at the gas station. Once it starts it is good to go but it takes many cranks and pumping of the peddle to get it going. If you put gas in it with a gas can it doesn't have the problem so guess it may have to do with the pressure of gas going in from the pump?!. We have spent over 1500.00 when it first started to no avail...

Sonata NF (2006-10) :: Gas Splashing Back When Filling Tank

So I fill up my 2007 Sonata for the very first time. I'm squeezing the trigger on the pump, it clicks off automatically when it senses it's full, then about a pint of gas backs up out of the tank and onto the floor. Is there some sort of design flaw on the Sonata that causes this to happen? It could have been a problem with the pump, but I don't usually have that happen with my other cars.

Camry :: 2002 LE - After Filling The Tank Car Wouldn't Start

I have a problem with the starting system on my 2002 Camry LE 4-cylinder. My problem started a few weeks ago. I drove it to the store, about five miles away, did my shopping, got back in the car, started it up and drove back toward home but stopped again to get gasoline. After filling the tank, the car wouldn't start. I turned the key but nothing happened. No noise, nothing. The starter motor wasn't turning over the engine. Thinking back, when I started my trip, the starting seemed a little weak but the car was sitting for a few days and it was cold out so I didn't make too much of that symptom.

So over the next half an hour, I tried starting it a few more times but got nothing but silence. So I called for a tow and $150 later I had my car back home. I put a load tester on the battery and it checked out fine. So I eliminated that part of the starting system being a problem. The next day, just out of curiosity, I tried starting it again and it fired up right away. The motor ran fine and I let it warm up for a while but I didn't go anywhere. I repeated this same procedure a few times over the past couple of weeks and each time the motor started up but again, I didn't chance going anywhere. However since I had some other maintenance projects I needed to get done on it and my wife has a 2014 Camry, having the 2002 out of service was inconvenient, but not an emergency.

So yesterday, with my maintenance projects done, I took the 2002 for a little test ride. Once again, it started up without a problem and I took my ride around the block. When I got home, I shut the motor off and went inside to grab a few tools. I came back outside, tried starting up the motor and got nothing. No start and no sound but the slight hum of the electric fuel pump. I tried a few more times with no success and then gave up for the evening. This morning, right before taking the other car to work, I tried starting it again just out of curiosity and once again, the motor fired right away. So this sequence of events tells me that something in the starting system is being impacted by heat when the motor is warm and when things cool down, they're fine.....at least for now.

I'm thinking the solenoid-starter may be going because I've had starters on other vehicles affected by heat before.

Prius (2004-09) :: 2006 - Warning Lights On When Restart And Drive After Filling Gas Tank

A couple of days ago, I was about to take a long road trip. Stopped to top off gas tank (yes, I squeezed the handle a few more times than I probably should have). Restarted and drove about 300 feet. Master Warning light, check engine light, brake light and pretty car with ! in the display all came on. Drove home - car ran fine but the hybrid battery seemed to stay full, switched cars, got home the next afternoon, started car again -- all lights still on. Checked gas cap (just in case), brake fluid is between full and low, coolant is probably a little low.

Accent MC (2006-11) :: Hard Start And Stumble At Takeoff

09' Auto accent developed an issue that I haven't been able to sort out. Car began experiencing a condition where it was harder and harder to start, over about a 2 day period. As well, when stopped at a light it would idle fine, but almost stall when you tried to accelerate. Once above about 2k rpms it was fine, but then near 4k rpm it felt dead, didn't want to pull.

Only code was P0171.

Here is what I have checked thus far.

All injectors ohm out exactly at 15.1
-Fuel pump primes at key on like it should
-Verified cam/crank are timed properly (timing belt didn't slip a tooth)
-Car is MAP based, so no MAF to deal with. It's totally stock down to the paper air filter.
-Purge solenoid is closed and appears to be functioning properly.

I was checking things last night and this time it didn't want to start at all. I haven't checked for injector pulse or spark (it's coil on plug), but this didn't seem like part of the issue it was experiencing. Almost feels like a cam or crank sensor going out (timing is acting weird). Is there a relatively easy way to test the cam or crank sensors other than just trying new ones?

Accent MC (2006-11) :: Intermittent Hard Start After Trying 2 To 3 Times

I have a 2009 Accent. Last year I started to have a hard start issue, very intermittent. It eventually got worse this year.

During the cold, it was never an issue, but during the summer damp or rainy days it occurred quite frequently.

It would turn over, but never start. If I pressed the gas peddle while starting it up, it usually would start the 2nd or 3rd time.

I changed the usual start up components; plugs, ignition coils, cam shaft position sensor, crankshaft sensor, and cleaned the throttle body.

None of those changes worked for the startup. When I removed my throttle body to fully clean it again, I noticed there was an extra air channel into the engine from the TB. Following this, I found the ISCA.

Removing, taking apart, and cleaning the idle speed control actuator seemed to have fixed the issue. It was so caked up with carbon deposit/build up, it couldn't fully rotate.

I used the throttle body cleaner to clean it out and then it began to spin freely (I removed it from the black sensor part first).

Since putting it back altogether, I haven't had a start up issue since.

Here are the notes from the service manual .....

Accent MC (2006-11) :: Intermittent Hard Start When Cold / Damp

Gremlin that causes the car to take a few tries to start when it is cold or damp? I've read that the crank sensor and fuel pump/fuel injection relays are possible culprits, but since the crank sensor is almost $100 I'm hesitant to throw money at an intermittent problem without a 100% diagnosis

-No codes in computer
-Brand new battery
-Mint NGK Platinum spark plugs
-Runs like a top once it starts
-5W20 synthetic oil

Usually it starts first flick of the key. Sometimes first flick fails no matter how long i hold it, then second flick it starts fine. If its really cold it sometimes takes up to 5 attempts. It cranks but doesn't "catch". The actual cranking itself is very strong with no hesitation which tells me it isn't starter, battery or thick oil.

Accent MC (2006-11) :: Hard Start After Adding Fuel Or Fill Up

My 07 has difficulty starting, only after adding fuel, or a fill up. I thought at first it was due to over filling, but it occurs after adding any amount of fuel. If I leave the car running while attempting to fill up, it sputters and dies. I have to press the gas pedal to the floor to start it, and it sputters for a few minutes, then runs fine, and starts fine until fuel is added once again. I searched and found where the General mentions a Vapor hose, but could not find more.
