My carmy had run for 82000 miles now, and never had a problem til now. When I start the car, the "check engine light" turns on. When I go driving, after 2 seconds the car slip warning light turns on.
Both warning lights keep on blinking all the time. Here's a photo of the warning lights: [URL] .... I mean the photo at the row in the middle, with the car sign on it.
2010 Prius V owner as of last week. All has been going well and got into the car this morning and all of the above noted lights are on at start-up and stay on as I drive. Have made appointment with the dealer but they cannot get me in until late next week. I did make a short drive this morning and all seemed fine with handling and braking. Searched a few threads here and answers are very varied and none that I saw had all of above lights on. I don't think that it is the Hill Start Assist. Safe to drive until we can get into the dealership?

View 1 RepliesI'm occasionally having a scary issue with my '13 RC450h. There are a couple of parking lots where the transition from the parking lot to the road is not particularly smooth and the speed of the other cars on the road require that you get up to 50mph pretty quickly.
When I hit the gas then hit the bumps in the transition, the TRAC light turns on and power to the wheels is lost for a couple of seconds (exactly the opposite of what I want to happen). Is this happening to other people or is this something that needs to be looked at? Is this just a result of traction control and I need to remember to turn it off when leaving a parking lot and entering a busy road?
Yellow brake light turned on while driving in rain, then for some reason turned off. I had read somewhere this may be an indicator of wear on brake pads. I have a 90 mi. commute round trip, I will check again if this turns on and stays on. For now, it is off. what could be causing this?
View 1 RepliesThis morning I got a yellow warning light flash for a few seconds and then turn solid after driving on the highway for a few minutes. It looks this: (_!_). It is located on the right of the dash display. I just changed my oil and put on winter tires myself two days ago. I hope it isn't related to my maintenance.
View 10 RepliesA 2010 Prius III: Its been a few days now that its doing this.
While I'm driving, the car would start to beep fast (3-4 beeps per sec), the brake and steering wheel stops working, its very stiff and brake pedal is hard! Along with that, there's 4 lights came on the dash; traction control, abs, brake and tire pressure. All this happens when the car starts to beep, and the beep last anywhere from 2-5 second, constantly!
I checked everything and its normal, gas half tank, keyless key is in my pocket, all doors closed, brake pads looks good, tires are good. I've had this car for 4 years, its at 45k miles.
I had a flat today and put on the spare. Over about 15 mph I got the Slip Warning light and the system was limiting my speed. Is there a button or something to disable the system so I can drive at normal speeds? From other postings it seems not. Is there anything else I should be doing???

View 10 RepliesI have a 10 month (15,000 mile) Prius and the " check hybrid system" warning light came on while driving on the interstate. 17 miles later the car quit running. I had it towed to the local dealer and after taking a looking at it I was told the error code pointed to the water pump (which they plan to replace). Does that make since? Has this been a problem for the Prius IV?
View 4 RepliesI have a 2011 Corolla LE, about 58k miles. The latest work I did was replace the brake pads, rotate the tires and changed the oil a little over 2 weeks ago. Everything was normal so far. Yesterday I drove for about an hour, again everything was fine, but after stopping at a gas station and starting I have several indicator lights come on.
- Slip indicator, flashing
- TRAC OFF, constant
- ABS, flashing
- Electric power steering warning light, flashes but turns off after about 30 seconds.
I tried my OBD scanner with no luck, but figures since there was no Check Engine light.
My 2011 Camry LE 4-cyl has 48k miles. Today I was driving on the highway during very heavy rain. My vehicle slip indicator light came on, along with my check engine light. I stopped at Advanced Auto for a diagnostic check. They said they couldn't be sure if it was a sensor, or maybe a wiring issue.

View 3 RepliesI have a 2000 Intrepid. I start the car and turn on the cruisecontrol. The light comes on for 10 seconds then turns off. I have to turn the car off and on to get the light to come on again. But it still goes out after exactly 10 seconds. If I push the brake pedal before the light goes out then it stays on until I release the brake. I am never able to set the speed even when the light is on. I assume some check is going on during those 10 seconds and something is failing and that's why the light goes off. What part of the cruise control system is failing and how do I test for this failure.
View 5 RepliesThe ABS light on my Chevy Prizm 98 comes on when I start the car and then turns off in a few seconds. The last few days the light does not go off the entire time the car is running. The light does not flash it just stays on. It's never done this before. Does this mean I have an issue with my brakes? I replaced the front brakes last year but I'm fearing/dreading rear brake replacement. I have no signs that they need to be replaced but am wondering if the ABS light is telling me I'm reaching the rear brake replacement day.
View 8 RepliesI have a 2007 GS350 AWD with about 110,000 miles right now. For almost the last year or so it has been burning off some oil. By the time its up for an oil change, it occasionally gives me the engine oil low light. It stays on between a few seconds to a minute and then turns off.
I've been telling this to the local Lexus dealership where i've had all my maintenance done, and they eventually did an oil consumption test. They said it was losing about 1.5 liters after 3,000 miles. They say that is within spec.
This issue came up several times while i was still in my 100,000 mile warranty, but they wouldn't do anything as it was in spec. I don't see how i should get a low engine light warning every 3-4k miles and have been pushing them to do something and cover under warranty since it has been documented as an issue before the warranty ran out. Lexus corporate asked for a compression test (which i had to pay for), the results are below:
Cyc#1: 205 dry; 225 wet
Cyc#2: 200 dry; 215 wet
Cyc#3: 190 dry; 215 wet
Cyc#4: 200 dry; 225 wet
Cyc#5: 205 dry; 210 wet
Cyc#6: 190 dry; 220 wet
After Lexus received the results they asked for, they still said: well the oil consumption is in spec so won't do anything.
Refilled the wiper fluid on my fiance's 2011 Camry LE today and low and behold the ABS + Slip Indicator lights came on in the dash next time she started the car.
No codes are throwing from the ECU and it drives fine. Only thing I can think to do is Drive it full tilt and see if I lose the back end and/or try braking aggressively from 40+ mph. Just to see if the ABS/Trac Control systems are hosed. Don't want to go to the dealer to have them try the same thing and me pay for it...
I have a 2006 Expedition with 90k miles. I am the original owner. don't drive the vehicle much just mostly when the family goes somewhere or when I'm putting the Jet skis in the lake.
About a year ago the air con went out and since I don't drive it that much I decided to fix it later, well now is later. How to diagnose the AC system. what I am looking for is a methodical step by step procedure for trying to find out what is causing my AC to not work.
the symptoms are, the compressor turns on runs for a few seconds and then turns off. inside the cab I can hear hear a hiss noise during the few seconds that the compressor comes on and fades away slowly when the compressor shuts off.
I bought a can of 134a with the gauge, I adjusted the gauge for the correct ambient temperature hooked up to the low side and was surprised to see that the Freon was only a little low. I topped it off but still no change in the compressor running.
I bought a set of manifold gauges from Harbor Freight (I know I know you get what you pay for) in any case I hooked up the gauges to see what the pressures are when the compressor turns on but only seeing a little change.
Any way I took my Speedy (expedition) to the local auto air conditioner shop the mechanic hooked his gauge set up to the vehicle, watched it for a few minutes, made some phone calls, came back. He did tell me that he was going to have to replace the compressor, condenser, dryer, expansion valves both front and back and flush the rest of the parts that did not get replaced. I suppose this is a good price if all that work really needs to be done???
However I would like to exhaust all of my options before I dump half the vehicles blue book value into the air conditioning. so I've been searching the internet and found that it is possible the problem may reside in a control valve that may be present in the type of scroll compressor that is in the expedition.
I just have my 2013 Prius C3 for two months and few days back I noticed that the Slip Indicator light blink a few time when I went through pot hole/uneven road (low speed, ~20mph). In the same time, I can hear as if there is a piece of metal sheet somewhere in the car vibrated. Is this normal?
View 10 RepliesI've got a '99 Camry 4 cylinder 5 speed manual with 155,000 miles on it. Yesterday, while driving it turned itself off. The first time, I had just pulled out of a parking lot and was accelerating moving at roughly 35 mph. It turned off instantly without any unusual noise or hesitation and within two seconds was right back on. The next time, the engine was up to temperature. I was doing about 5-10mph just as a light turned green. That time I had to restart it with the key. Everything sounds and seems normal up until it dies. Where to start looking for the problem?

The Owner's Manual says: If the vehicle is in danger of slipping or rolling backward when starting on an incline, or if any of the drive wheels spins, the slip indicator light flashes to indicate that the VSC/TRAC systems are operating.
Luckily, it only happened once... otherwise, I'll roll back to the dealership in the very first day I picked up my car...
