Our 2012 camry se had a problem with the fuel pump running when the engine was off. Several hours after we came home I went into the garage for something and heard a humming noise. First thought was a distant neighbor using a leaf blower, then realized it was coming from the rear of car. definitely coming from gas tank area. Turned key on, then off and noise was gone.
View 6 RepliesThere seems to be a humming noise coming from the back of the treg. It sounds like someone is tapping on a 10 gallon plastic bucket. This only happens when I'm doing 80 MPH. Yes, I know I'm breaking the the law. Still it's annoying. I have the radio off, I have mud and snow tire. Roof racks are on, both at the rear of the treg.
View 21 RepliesI recently noticed a humming noise coming from the passenger side on my Mazda Protege 2000 ES . I suspected it was the water pump, so I took the car to my mechanic. He inspected the coolant reservoir and it was empty. He also checked the noise and the area were the pump is, and told me that the water pump had to be replaced.
My dad told me that his 1994 Sentra had the water pump replaced but none of these things had to be done and that it was unnecessary. But then I thought, every car is different.
I was in shock with how much the repair would cost, so he then gave me another quote with just the timing belt and water pump replacement for $503, but this time he said that he will not give me any warranty for the repairs because of the tensioner.
The other morning I went out to the garage and heard a strange noise coming from the rear (underneath the 3rd row seating/storage area) of my GX460. It sounded like a pump or something running continuously. I was in the garage for 10 minutes and the noise had started before I entered the garage and continued after I left. When I went back out to the garage 3-4 hours later it had stopped so I am not certain how long it was running for. I previously owned a 2006 GX470 with the rear air suspension and this was not the sound that was coming from my new GX. The car had not been running or driven in over 8 hours and I am at a loss as to what it could be. I figured I would check here first before delving into the 700+ page owners manual to troubleshoot.

View 9 RepliesI have been getting some noise from the fuel pump when the car is at idle. I am sure the noise is there when the car is moving but the road noise is cancelling it out. The noise is very subtle but a bit annoying. Do you hear your fuel pump at idle? I will take it in for a replacement.

After walking around a bit, I found it coming from the underside of the back of the Camry. I got in and turned the key to the "on" position and it went away. The car had been parked for about 5-6 hours. I've never heard this noise before.

View 2 RepliesI have been getting increased noise coming from the back of my car for the past month. So I jacked up the car and spun the tires and heard grinding noises in the rear right. I have a 2012 ToyotaPrius plug-in with 33,000 miles. When driving the car around 40 miles an hour there would be a howling sound coming from the back of the car regardless of the type of pavement I was driving on.
So I took it to the dealer today and they had it up on the rack in about an hour later they came to me and said it needed new tires and it would be about $700 and that this was likely causing the noise. I said that there was no way that it was the tires so I went and showed the mechanic how old the sound was coming out of the back right wheel. He listened with his stethoscope on the wheel bearings and said that he did hear some noise in there but still thought it was the tires.
I been hearing a clicking noise coming from the back right side when I brake. The mechanic said this is not the case and has replaced the right wheel hub, and front axle, and the struts. He is searching for the noise as the noise seems to shift- it really is odd. The mechanic did pay for the axle as it is driving him crazy not to find the problem. I have ABS brakes and this is a 4cyl with almost 200,000 miles.

View 3 RepliesI've been noticing a low pitched humming noise coming from what sounds like the passenger side of the engine. it happened only occasionally at first but within a week of first hearing it, it is now almost all the time. here is some specifics...
-the noise always starts about 2 or 3 seconds after starting the engine.
-the pitch or loudness does not change with increased rpms or with truck in gear driving.
-the noise randomly stops for no given reason whether driving or idling then starts back up again.
-there are no performance issues while making noise, no dip in rpms, nothing. still runs the same
I've listened with the hood up and cant identify where the noise is coming from. is this something i need to get fixed asap or no? I've got a 2001 f250 5.4 with a manual tranny ....
My dad has a 2012 6.7 powerstroke with about 84,000 kms on it. Truck runs great, works great, but has a noise that sounds like its coming from a pump of some sort on the engine. I know nothing about these trucks and told him I would see what I could find out before we take it to the dealer to see if its a warranty issue. Video below.....

Fuel Pump? Filter? Both? I haven't seen the truck, a friend is considering buying it and rolling the dice it is a quick fix. Fuel is in the tank .....
I was letting my truck idle to work on a cooling issue when I noticed oil coming from my fuel pump! What would cause this? It wasn't coming from were the pump bolts to the timing cover it was coming out of the side of the pump it looked like? I'm going to get a new one.
View 7 Replies2002 Camry, i was gonna remove manifold & 1st step was to pull relay to relieve fuel pressure(which it did) but then i needed to use car so i put it back now car turns over & immediately sputters-out unless i depress & hold accelerator. Also, fuel in tank is very low, in case that could be culpable.
View 3 RepliesI got in my 1977 f150 V8 windsor the other day and headed down the road. All of a sudden I started to hear this sound that only way I can describe it is a big log chain moving around or a box of washers being moved around. I got out, popped the hood and thought at first that it was a pulley somewhere on the front of the engine, perhaps water pump pulley or something like that. The closer I got my ear to engine though I think it is coming from the back passenger side of the engine, not the front. I could be wrong about that, but I do know it is coming from the passenger side of the engine. Sometimes it will go away for 1/4 of a mile and then come back. I also noticed that it gets faster when I give it gas and slower when I don't, which is why I was thinking it had to be one of the pulleys going bad. I'm not so sure though because I think it may be coming from the passenger back part of the engine.

View 5 RepliesHaving problems with a squeaking or ticking noise coming from the front windshield area on the passenger side? I took off the A-pillar and tweeter speaker cover, and the noise was still there. Pressing on the A-pillar did not work and it's not any of the cords or plastics in there rubbing. It almost sounds like it's behind the A-pillar. Pressing on the dash, windshield, headliner, etc. all have no effect on the noise.
I'm trying really hard to fix this myself because I'm worried about a tech tearing apart the dash trying to fix it. It might end up worse than it is now. I'm thinking this TSB will need to be done (which seems to apply to all Toyotas): [URL] ....
Next on my list to check is the passenger side mirror (make sure it's fastened securely) and also the black liner under the windshield wipers. I also have foam (like the kind you use when installing a window AC) which I may also try stuffing into the bottom of the front windshield (and maybe the top) to see if that works.
If all else fails, the car is going to the dealer I guess. The Camry is such a quiet car that the noise is really irritating in an otherwise quiet interior. Other than this noise, the car is great! Just a little bummed because my 2005 has zero rattles or noises and my gf's old 2009 also had no rattles or noises. The 2015 refresh is nice, though we're still on the fence about the front grille. My relative is waiting for the 2016's to be released later this year and then he will be buying one for his patrol car. The 2015 isn't a full redesign but it looks different enough that he wants to wait for the next MY to come out. He's dreading leaving behind his 5MT Civic but it needs to be replaced. He hasn't had an auto, ever, come to think of it..
