Celica :: 2000 GTS Idles Rough / Fluctuates Between 500 And About 1100 RPMs

Jun 11, 2011

I have a 2000 Celica GTS that idles a little rough it has 118000 miles on it.. Fluctuates between 500 rpm and about 1100 rpm. Doesnt always do this, usually after ive been driving for a while. I also may have a rod knock, what parts would i need to fix both of these issues? Me and some friends can do the work ourselves, i just need the parts.

Celica :: 03 GT High Idle From 1100 To 2000 RPM

My girlfriend has a 03 celica gt with around 126k on it. most resent it has had a problem of high idle its sits anywhere from 1100rpm to 2000rpm. I replaced the the tps sensor figuring it was the problems it seemed to get more consistent with the new tps it now sits at 1100 but it may still be high I don't drive it a lot. And I forgot to mention no engine lite. I've herd its not common with toyota. I also looked for vacuum leaks as well but found nothing.

Corolla / Matrix 2009-13 :: RPM At Idle (Stop Light In Gear) Fluctuates From 600 To 1100

2009 Corolla LE... IDLE will fluctuate from 600 to 900 while at a stop light. It will keep rev up and then rev down to the point where it feels like the car is about to turn off and then it will rev back up again. I use Shell 89 Octane fuel. I have tried everything with the car.

I have cleaned the MAF, the Throttle Body, changed the engine air filter, using only 0W-20 Synthetic oil (change every 3.5 to 4k miles). Have added Fuel Injector cleanered to the fuel: Have tried BG44k, Red Line SL-1, Techron Concentrate. Added Liqui-Moly Ceratec to the engine oil to reduce friction.

Now Changed the Bank 1 Sensor 2 for Oxygen sensor.
Drained the Transmission fluid, dropped the pan, changed the transmission filter and refilled it with the Toyota ATF.
Changed Spark Plugs and used the Toyota OEM Iridiums.
Reset the ECU.
Tires at 35 PSI.

Celica :: 7AFE Engine Timing Out With Rough Idles Every Now And Then

Well, a couple months ago my engine started making a noise. We located the issue to be a loose timing belt. We had it tightened, and the noise stopped, but since then it kind of acted like it was a little out of time with rough idles every now and then. This past week, I had driven my car out. I came to a 4-way stop and the car shut off on me. It would not immediately start back up so I pushed it to the side and waited a bit. It started up after sitting for a few minutes and cooling down. I got it back home and it stalled right as I was turning into my driveway (after the RPMs had lowered to idle).

A couple of days ago I set out to replace the timing belt as it seemed to me the timing was off ever since we tightened the belt and it eventually got worse, thus the stalling. I changed the timing belt, set the timing on the cams the way it shows to be set below:

I set the timing on the crankshaft pulley to the specifications found in this video:

Which is putting the crankshaft pulley on and turning it until it aligns with the '0' mark on the bottom timing cover. So I decide to start the car without anything else on to make sure its in time. It fires right up so I shut it off quickly and go about putting it all back together.

Once the car is completed, I attempt to start it again. It fires up, I back it up and it dies. It would not start back. I waited a few minutes and attempted to start it again, it started up so I pulled it back up to the same spot it was in and shut it off. Took the pieces off again, got it back to where I could line the timing up again. I again set the timing one more time to make sure. It was set correctly. I then tried starting the car again and this time it would not crank.

I gave up for now as its 30 degrees outside and I have been working on it non stop for 3 days to no avail.

Celica :: 89 GT Idles At 2000 RPM When First Started Up

I have an 89 Celica GT that idles at 2000 RPM when first started up and even when it's warm it is still at about 1500 RPM. How to lower that? I failed my emissions test because it put out too much CO and the idle speed was one of the suspected problems.

Golf V R32 :: Idles A Little Slower On R And Fluctuates When A/C Is On

Lately, I have noticed the idle on the R to be a little lower than normal and it is fluctuating with the AC on. The plugs were done about a year and 10,000 miles ago with OEM NGK iridium, along with the rest of the 80,000 mile maintenance items. I have no engine faults and religiously use Shell 93. The engine has the UM ECU/DSG [spark cut] tune with Milltek engine-back exhaust [no cats/resonator]. Is there something that I am missing that may be the culprit? I need to pull the plugs and check them because with any idle issue I usually suspect plugs but have never had an issue with plugs failing this soon.

Related topic; what spark plugs are people having good luck with the UM combo tune?

Dodge - Dakota :: 1996 SLT Idles Rough / RPMs Will Drop To Near 0 Within About 20 Seconds Of Coming To A Stop

So I have a 96 Dodge Dakota SLT 3.9 4WD. Anyway, it idles relatively smoothly at about 700 RPM in drive or neutral, but if I'm in a moving gear and need to stop, the idle is extremely rough. Usually, the RPM's will drop to near 0 within about 20 seconds of coming to a stop. It will typically recover and continue with rough idling and near stalling a few times, but within a minute or two it stalls. A few additional details: it starts right up again after falling, it doesn't make any difference if I start it cold and drive immediately or drive it for an hour before coming to a stop, the same thing happens. Anything that looked suspicious to me has been changed (drive belt, spark plugs & wires, distributor cap & rotor, pcv valve, idle air control valve, and, of course, the air freshener).

Ford F-150 - 1997-2003 :: Truck Idles Very Rough - High Rpms Fine - Reason?

So my "farm truck" is idling very rough, to the point that sometimes that it stalls out. At high idle it runs fine but when its at a idle its very rough. Its been running fine until probably a month ago or so and its just getting worse. What it could be? I am thinking it might be that something is dirty but i just dont know where to start with figuring out what the problem is.

Ford 7.3L Power Stroke (1999-2003) :: After Start Up RPMs Drop - Stalls Out Then Idles Rough?

2003 7.3 excursion.. The truck starts every time revs up and idles about 3 seconds then the rpms drop and it tries to stall out catches itself then revs backup and idles rough similar to if you have got air in the fuel lines from changing the fuel filter.. About 1 in five times the truck will stall out and it starts and immediately and idles rough but the rpms and everything runs at speed and rpms don't drop again! This is a reman engine/transmission recently installed.. The mechanic who installed it was unable to figure the problem out.

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: 2000 GLS Idles Around 1000 RPMs When Started

So lately my 2000 Jetta GLS hasn't been running that smooth I can tell when I'm changing gearing and when I start the car and the car idles around 1000 RPMs. I think it may be the engine miss firing because some times I can feel the car shaking but I have no check engine light. Lucky... Also the coolant is leaking idk what the exact problem is but everywhere I go there is a puddle of coolant under my car.

Celica :: 2004 1zz-fe - Code P0300 / Rough Idle And Stumble At Low Rpms

I have a 100% stock 2004 Celica GT ~125,000 miles. Over the last few months I have been getting a rough idle and stumble at low rpms. The other day the car would not restart after sitting for about 20 minutes. Only recently has it actually thrown a DTC. The error codes were for misfires (P0300, P0301,P0302,P0303, P0304). I don’t get a code every time but the problem seems to be more noticeable if the car has been ran for a while, sits for 20-30 minutes while in a store and then when I try to start it when I come out of the store is when the problem most often occurs. When it restarts it will stumble at low RPM and if I hit the gas it has little response and misses badly. I have never used a scanner until now. I am using a Autel MS509 scanner and I am not sure it is giving me the correct diagnostic numbers for the live data. I think the DTC are correct but the live data is questionable.

Here is what I have done so far.

- Cleaned IAC valve (completely removed and cleaned)
- Searched for vacuum leaks using carb cleaner
- Cleaned MAF sensor
- Replaced all 4 injectors
- Replaced upstream and downstream O2 sensors
- Replaced Coolant Temp Sensor
- Ensured cam tensioner is providing adequate pressure to the cam chain
- Tried 2 sets of new Iridium NGK plugs and a new set of Bosch Copper plugs
- Moved coil packs around
- New air filter
- New fuel filter
- SeaFoam through intake and gas tank. I have not mixed in the oil.
- Compression Test (1=190,2=190,3=160,4=178)

Things I have not done.
- Taken it to the stealership
- Fuel pressure test
- Valve Clearance

I am concerned about the compression test because according to the service manual it should be around 218. I was using a Harbor Freight compression tester and I am not 100% sure I had a good seal with the tester.

Celica :: 2000 GT - Ticking / Rattling Noise From Engine Around 2k To 3k RPMs

I drive a 2000 Celica GT 5 speed. I am having an issue with my 1ZZ-FE.

I am hearing a ticking/rattling noise from my engine around 2k-3k RPMS. Anything before or after that, the noise dies down. I could hear it from the interior of the car as well. I at first thought it was valve chatter. Someone said It could be a piston or rod. What parts will be needed? Worst case, ill just swap in a 03+ 1ZZ or go with a 2ZZ.

Celica :: 2000 Is Little Rough / CEL Came On

A while back it was a little rough but not so bad, I ran some seafoam and cleaned the MAF, it made it smoother and the CEL went away, but came back shortly. I'm unsure of the code but I will check soon.

Anyways the code is still there I will try to get it checked soon though, but the car runs like CRAP when the Heat or AC is on.

If at a light, and the ac is on, the idle will drop from 7-800 to below 500 and jump back up to 7-800 and back down to 500, but it will save it self right before it wants to stall. I turn the heater off and bam it's fine. While driving if I turn the heater on you can FEEL the strain it puts on the engine and the rpms drop about 500. So eg you're going at 2500 rpm, with the heater on it will drop to 2000. ALSO the ac sometimes randomly turns on and when it does it has a flashing green light.

I think it may be the MAF, or a loose vacuum, but i'm not sure how the heater is affecting it.

Golf/GTI VI :: 2010 2.5L - At Idle It Will Go Up And Down Between 1100 And 1500 RPMs

So my car started doing some weird things. at idle and only at idle it will go up and down between 1100 and 1500 rpm. No throttle input no clutch input or brake input. I do have a CEL on but when I read the code it gives me 01314 on brake electronics setting. I'm using a vchecker pro. I go into all the engine brake airbag and trans menus and do clear fault codes and this fixes it but id like to know what the actual problem is.

Ford F-150 (2004-2008) :: Missing At About 1100 RPMs

My 2007 5.4 Triton developed a miss. Code came up knock sensor at first. Changed knock sensor, did plugs, and coil packs. When we did the plugs, I was in town, and all of a sudden the truck just went crazy and started running like total crap. Was smooth up until this point. Spent three days trying to figure it out, and turns out one of the plugs went bad. Had to drive it like that back to the shop, and to work a couple times if that might have caused another problem. After that was fixed it ran like a champ.

Put Accel coil packs on. I had a sulfur/gassy smell coming through the air vents, and it progressively got worse, and the truck started missing again. I put the stock coil packs back on and the smell went away, and the previous miss was back, but wasn't as bad as the Accels. Brought the Accels back and ordered a set online, and installed them. Fixed the miss for about a week. Now it's back, and really prevalent at about 1100 RPMs. I swapped each coil pack today with a good one, and no change, so I don't think it's coil packs. I'm so confused and bummed over this... is it cam phasers? The truck is at 91k miles...

Accent MC (2006-11) :: Idle Speed Will Increase To Around 1100 RPMs

I noticed on 5 different occasions so far this year that my idle speed will increase to around 1100 rpms when sitting at idle for more than a few min. Last summer it did it while running a/c, and today it did it with cold weather. The rpms are usually at 550, what happens is the pcm will decide to increase idle speed for no reason at all. Start driving it, and the next time at idle it will stop doing it, a couple times it went down to 550rpms, then went back up to 1100rpms. I recently changed the spark plugs, the air filter is clean, and runs good. I have a code scanner, no pending codes. I have 53k miles. I wonder what could cause this?

Oldsmobile - Starting - Intrigue - Rough :: 2000 - Idles At Non Regular Number?

I don't know what is wrong with this car, I have put in new titanium plugs, new plug wires, new fuel filter, new air filter, changed the oil, I burn mid-grade gas. The car starts right up when cold, however once it warms up it idles on a non regular number, dies when driving and is very hard to start. I get lousy mileage and it smells like it is either not getting enough gas or not getting enough air. I don't know what else to do. I had it analyzed with an electric analyzer, no codes were found. When the plugs were put in the air flow sensor had either gas or oil on it. It does not use any oil.
