Just took possession of new 2013 elantra with nav and leather for my wife.
Is there any way to convert odometer for km to miles,
same question for the inside/outside temp.
Outside gauges says 2C inside temp set at 71f.....
I have looked in the manual to no success...
Recently, my radiator fan stopped working. Its a 2013 Elantra GLS with 54K Miles on it. Summers are scorching in my region (hovering around 50 C so I take extra care anyway. Was surprised to find out one such scorching afternoon that the fan stopped working so even the A/C failed. Took it to the mechanic, who diagnosed and said the fan motor is spoil. I was hoping it was the temperature sensor.

I have a 2011 Camry LE. I took it to have the oil changed today. The odometer was around 46,000 miles and that's what the service guy put in the computer. After the service was completed, the guy leaned in the car and had me turn the keys 2 clicks while he pressed the odometer button to reset the oil change light. It took him a few tries before he said "ok, got it." Afterwards, I noticed the odometer was reading 40,000. I showed it to him, and he had no explanation for what happened. Neither did anyone else that worked there. I called my local Toyota and they had never heard of that happening.

View 4 RepliesI have a 2004 Nissan Quest SE. We were on a trip and drove 15 hours to Florida which was a 870 mile trip. We had 104,440 miles on the van when we left, validated by the dealer service records and our own notes to track MPG. We arrived in FL and didn't notice the odometer. The van remained parked for 4 days. Upon leaving, we noticed it had 115,310 miles on the odometer. Upon checking the trip computer (setting 1), it did not reflect this 10k mile gain. The trip computer also didn't reflect a change in MPG with the additional 10k miles. The trip computer (setting 2) hasn't been reset in a very long time as we don't use it. and continued to show a total mileage just over 4k miles, therefore, also not reflecting this 10k mile gain in the odometer.What would cause this jump of 10k miles on the odometer?

View 14 RepliesSo when I first got my car, the dealer had put in a full tank of gas and the miles to empty range was at 347~. After several fill ups since my purchase, the miles to empty has been dropping every time I filled up. A few fill ups ago, I remember it was 327. The latest fill up was about 318. What gives? Do the current MPG avg affect this number? What is the factor for the variance?
View 17 RepliesBrought my car for an oil change at 42000 km (26000 mi) and asked the dealership to check my brakes since I've been hearing a noise for the last 2 weeks. Ended up having to replace both rear disks and pads. Dealer said everything was seized up and that they were able to rescue my front brakes by doing brakes service on them.
Next day, the exact same thing on my girlfriend's 2012 Accent..! Dealer told me that brakes need to be serviced every single year to avoid this...! Really??? I never heard of that before and needless to say, I didn't expect to get a 500$ + bill on a new car...
I checked with my mechanic and he did inspect my brakes at 24000 km (14900 mi) as I asked him and that everything was working perfectly.
I have a GMC, 2015, Yukon and I need to stop my odometer from registering miles when I tow it on all fours. I called GMC and was told the odometer is a new "tamper proof" one and it cannot be stopped from recording miles when the wheels are turning. Is there a 'work-around' that would solve this problem?

View 14 RepliesI've started noticing this only when she's cold and I have to back out of the garage in the morning. I generally wait 5-10 seconds after I start the engine before going into reverse but lately I've noticed a muffled metallic 'pank' coming from the engine compartment when the reverse gear engages. I can't say I feel any 'thump' to go with it and I'm racking my brain to see if this is a new development and I have a possible transmission issue or if it's been there all along and I never noticed.

Also, when should rear brake drums be replaced. My bearings are bad so should I replace the drums too?
In my 2012 Elantra Limited that has less than 2000 miles on it, I occasionally get a chattering type noise when I put the car in reverse. It goes away when the foot is off the brake and car is in motion but reappears when braking to shift to drive. It only happens probably 5-10% of the times that I need to put the car in reverse. I stopped by the dealership and asked if they knew what it was and he said it was the brake calipers and there was nothing to do to resolve the noise.

Today noticed a knockng sound louder than the usual engine knock. It only occurs when we put car in reverse. Checked it with the brakes applied so as to eliminate it coming from any source due to the car moving ie axle/drive connections etc. Putting it in D with brakes on, not moving and it goes away. Put it back in reverse and it recurs.
Tried it even after the engine had warmed to temp guage showing half way. Let car sit for a bit (so engine was still warm) and it repeated. Drove for a few minutes and it would not occur. Shut car off for 1 hour, on restart the engine temp was showing it was still warm and the knock would recur in R.
I have a 2013 Elantra, owned since new... I recently started hearing a knocking sound coming from both front wheels while turning in reverse. I have yet to take my car in to have it looked at, if I can do it myself I will but I'm not sure where to start.
View 3 RepliesI just started hearing a loud click when I change from park to reverse and from reverse to drive. If I keep moving the knob between those three spots with my foot on the brake and hand brake off, I hear a loud click at each spot. Hard to describe... anyway, this only happens when I first start the car, by the time I get to work if I try doing that when I park there is no loud click sound. The thing is, I don't know if this was always happening and I just noticed it now, or if it just started.
View 14 RepliesIt only really happens when the car has not been warmed up, like first thing in the morning. Aside from the noise, the car shifts and drives normally. Noise just developed, 28k on the car, it is a 2012 elantra. As I shift from P to R while backing out of my garage there is a metallic clink/ping as the transmission engages.
It is not a CLUNK sounds, it is deff more on the side of a metallic clink...
The other day I noticed the car slipped into reverse fairly hard, then when I placed it into drive it also slipped in fairly hard. Once I was out on the road it hesitated and then slipped into gear 3rd then 4th, and when I slowed down it seem to hesitate when gearing down. Two days passed and no problems, then today started up again, and now the "check engine" light came on...! Shifted ok on the way home this evening but check engine light still on. Only 34K, 2012 bought in June 2011. Has been an absolutely brilliant ride up until this week. I understand the tranny is sealed ? Any tips besides taking it to a dealer ? Problem is I live quite a ways from one, and finding the time.
