I have a 2012 Ford Focus. The switch for the wipers does not turn on the wipers. However, sometimes the wipers go intermittently when the switch is off - even if ignition is off (and key removed).

I have taken the upper and lower part of the cover off to expose the switch and removed one screw from the ignition housing, but the internal part of the ignition switch will not come out. How do I completely remove this ignition switch. I have already removed the negative battery cable. It seems this is a continual problem with focuses. Oh, do I need a releasing tool to release the ignition switch.
View 7 RepliesStarted truck, used windshield washer and noticed High Beam Indicator was lit on dash. Headlight switch not on. Drove to Ford dealer, turned off truck, high beams would not shut off. Dealer replaced the Turn Signal/wiper/High beam switch assembly. Dealer had one in stock. Service manager said they have replaced a few of these Switches. So if your High Beams come on without the headlight switch on you cannot turn them off even if you shut off and exit truck. Also the "You left your lights on warning chime" does not sound when you exit truck.

I bought the new switch, but don't see how to get it out without taking the whole steering wheel off. I can't get to the screws on it at all. I got the plastic covers off, but can't see how to get the switch out.
View 3 Replies2012 Ford Focus, 115 000 miles. Starting issues. A few weeks ago I would turn the key in the ignition and there would be nothing for about 3 or 4 seconds and then it would turn over. Now it does not turn over at all sometimes. Sometimes it starts right up and other times it does not. The lights on the dashboard still come on but it just does not turn over. Loose connection somewhere? Starter relay? Battery?

I have a 10' kayak that I slide into the trunk for a 1/2 mile drive down my private road to the dock and I'm sick of listening to that warning beep--hoping I can put tape over the switch or something to shut it up.

View 1 RepliesI have a 2002 Suburban 1500LT with rear wiper, and it has intermittent capabilities. Recently the rear wiper arm appears to be trying to park over and over when the switch is turned to off. Once in awhile it will make a full pass but then it goes back to the endless park syndrome.

View 6 RepliesI have a 2012 Ford Focus with automatic transmission with about 22k miles on it. No check engine lights on. When accelerating from standstill it always stutters a little as if it's not really 'catching on' properly (just in "first gear" it seems). It doesn't do it once you're beyond 5 - 10 mph and it doesn't do it either when for instance stepping on the gas pedal while driving. Only from standstill. It also doesn't seem to go away when the car has been driven for a little while. It's always there. What could be causing this?
View 4 RepliesRear wiper stays on regardless of switch position. It runs as if the switch was on - intermittently. No critters chewing, Stops with the fuse pulled. We get lots of snow and I need it, rain-x won't cut it. It has 80k on the clock and everything works perfectly. the wiper homes between runs. Disconnected the battery for 5 mins for fun. Is this switch prone to this kind of failure?
View 1 RepliesGarage tells me tranny is working well. The problem seems to be worse when engine is cold. When pulling away from a stop, sounds like a toaster is being shaken under the hood with a loss of power...leaving 2nd into 3rd. Are there any other engine parts i should be testing?

View 1 RepliesMy daughter's 2002 Saturn L-200 emits a puff of smoke from the steering wheel area near the wiper switch only when she starts the car, which only lasts a few seconds then is gone. No one has ever heard of this happening, but a mechanic replaced the wiper switch. The problem was gone for about 3 weeks, and now is happening again intermittently. What is causing this?
View 4 RepliesSo for a couple weeks my car has been having issues starting. When I turn the key initially it will do nothing sometimes, take a second to start sometimes, and start almost normally sometimes. It seems to be at it's worse when I leave it for longer periods, such as after work or overnight. What happens most is that I turn the key and nothing happens for a moment, then it starts to turn over, and after a few seconds of struggling to start it turns over. It hasn't gotten worse yet, but i'd like to hear from the more knowledgeable before I go to a mechanic.

I then turn the key back and forth a few time and turn the wheel a few times and then it start and runs fine and I may not have this happen again for a few weeks or it may happen the next day.
View 11 RepliesSo I left my car running ran into a store came out it had turned off so went to start it it and it wouldn't turn over all you could hear was clicking from the starter so had a guy boost it and engine turned over and started just fine but i had no power to anything I couldn't even take the tranny outta park? So i left it sitting for about an hour went back and it fired up just fine? Had battery tested and it was fully charged. Also when car is off and I am inside my interior lights flash on and off as well as there's a beeping like every 5 to 10 minutes.
