Ford Excursion :: ABS Light On - VSS Leak - ORing?

I've had an ABS light on for awhile now & appears to be from the VSS. When I looked this is what I found. It's been replaced before by a mechanic. Wondering if it's some o-ring failure. I couldn't get the bolt loosened at the time but plan on tackling it next weekend.

Ford F-150 - 1997-2003 :: Trans Dipstick Tube Leak - No ORing?

I have a minor leak at the base of the trans dipstick tube. I assume that the tube is press in ? has an o-ring ? I put some silicone around the area and that worked about a week, the fluid is probably eating through that type sealant. The trans is a 4r70. Seems to me that the actual tube should be ok and having never dealt with replacing one I want a little advice before yanking it out.

I I have a pretty good o ring leak where the egr cooler meets with the intake. My question is can i replace the o ring without removing​ the intake. If so what is the process.

Ford 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: Hydroboost High-pressure Line Coupling Leak - Replaced ORing?

I've been watching fluid build up on what I think is the hi-pressure line on the hydroboost. It appears to be originating at the coupling in the line because it is dry back at the unit.

Is there an o-ring or nylon washer in this fitting?

Can it be tightened?

Does the o-ring or washer need to be replaced?

Is it a sign of something else, like a build up of pressure in the line that is too high?

I currently have zero problems or noise coming from the steering or brake system.

Ford Transmission :: Oil Leaking - Seal Or ORing?

When the truck set's for a couple weeks the tranny leaks a preety good size spot on the floor, as long as its driven every couple days not 1 drop. I know the is converter drain back but what seal or O-ring is causing this?

Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: F250 Won't Start Since Replacing ORing

My 1999 F250 won't start ever since I replaced the o ring where the dipstick meets the oil pan. Started it when I was finished it ran for a minute and shut off, the truck was on a slope my low fuel light was on. I have it sitting on the flat now but still not starting but turns over?

Ford 7.3L Power Stroke (1999-2003) :: Cylinder Head Fuel And Oil Rail Plug ORing Replacement

Is this job worth doing as a preventative maintenance item? I replaced the rear fuel rail plug (aka banjo bolt) o-rings because they were very easy to get to with the up-pipes out. But the cylinder head plug in the rear is pretty high up and even with the up-pipes out, there isn't enough room to get a breaker in there that's long enough and has enough movement to loosen it. The front would be easier to get to, but both accessory brackets need to come off to get to them on both sides.

As far as I know, none of them leak but they're all 17 years old... BTW in case you haven't been following, I'm doing up-pipes, injectors, turbo, rebuilt HPOP & fuel bowl, boots & clamps, etc. so I'm trying to knock out any PM items while I have it apart.

Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: Tranny Filter Change - Stuck Filter ORing

Changing tranny fluid/filter today, all has been going great until I went to take the filter o-ring out that didn't come with the filter. It will not come out! made a hook tool out of an old tooth brush like someone on here did, o-ring wont budge. Tried a hook pick, it wont dudge (actually bent the tip on the pick and started to tear the o-ring). Everything is ready to go back together and get filled, but this stupid o-ring will not come out!

Ford Excursion :: Exhaust Leak At The Manifolds

Can't put it off any longer. Cold start I am getting the exhaust leak at the manifolds on an '01 V10. It's worse on the passenger side than on the driver side. So, I know the bolts/studs fatigue and snap off causing this. With my luck probably flush in the head. So who has done these and how bad was it? If I'm going to do this I am going to swap in a set of shorty headers instead of installing gaskets.

Ford Excursion :: Gas Leak - Fuel On Top Of Injector

I have a fuel elk coming from the fuel rail on top of an orange; what I can only assume is an injector? Fuel races out of it and puddles beneath the truck. I hate driving it cause now everything stinks like gas. I've tried pushing on it with no luck. How hard would it be to fix this issue? I'm mechanically inclined but feel this may be beyond my skills.

Ok, I have capped off the vacuum lines to the front hubs and replaced the vacuum solenoid on the passenger inner fender. Still stuck on defrost. I know there are several options from this point what would be the next step after what I have just recently done. Going away on a ski trip and would like to have it working properly before I go.

Ford Excursion :: Won't Shift Into1st After Cooler Leak?

I had a minor front accident in my EX last week. Seemed fine to drive, AC worked radiator was oK. Shifted fine. Bumper was all jacked up. I took off the bumper and ordered a new one. In the meantime an employee of mine drove the EX on a short errand. Evidently there was a nick in the front tranny cooler hose that burst on the interstate. He put a few quarts in it and limped back to the farm where we fixed the leaking hose and refilled the tranny. As it is now, reverse works fine, but when shifted to drive it doesnt shift into 1st and could possibly be stuck in overdrive. If I turn off the overdrive button on the shifter, all gears work as they should except of course OD. if I'm at highway speed in 3rd gear, I can turn overdrive back on and it will shift into overdrive. If I stop, I have the turn off the overdrive button to use 1st 2nd and 3rd.

Ford Excursion :: A/C Line Leak Coming From Near The Firewall

Trying to get the a/c working on the EX. Tried to pull a vacuum and heard a leak coming from near the firewall. After a closer look I could see the larger line was rubbing against the rear head stud. That line is a hard to remove and replace. So if you have a studded 6.0, take time to look at your lines to make sure they have proper clearance.

Ford Excursion :: Coolant Leak Developed After Flush

I did a coolant flush following the instructions posted on this site. In fact I did a little more than just a flush - replaced degas bottle cap, replaced thermostat and installed a coolant filtration system.

There were no leaks before I started and the only reason I did the flush was that there was green antifreeze in it.

I noticed that there was half a gallon of coolant under it in the parking lot this afternoon - the degas bottle still has coolant in it, so I drove it home and inspected the thermostat housing and top radiator hose, as well as all fittings and hoses installed as part of the coolant filter. Everything was dry.

I tracked the leak to the lower radiator hose - the one thing I did not touch as I drained from the petcock. Coolant is running down the lower radiator hose.

Could the new radiator cap have increased the pressure in the system to a point where it identified a weak point that was not leaking before?

My temps are great, ECT is stable about 188F - 190F and EOT is stable around 192F - 194F. I ran it hard and got temps up to around 200F and they both came back down to 192F range very quickly when I backed off. They were actually running about 5F higher before the flush.

I will try running the old cap to see if there is a difference, but if the lower hose is the weak point I'd prefer to replace that and run the new OEM cap.

Ford Excursion :: 2000 - Transmission Fluid Leak?

My new/used 2000 4x4 excursion with 214000 miles on it has a transmission fluid leak.

It could be a rear portion of pan gasket but it seems to be coming out of the area where the transmission bolts to the extension housing.

I just put a transfer case in it. Thought all the fluid all over was due to exploded T case.

It seems the output shaft seal may be bad. I cannot seem to find an OEM part number for this seal.

What is part number for this seal, if one exists? Maybe the seal is in the extension housing and it's just the gasket between Trans and housing.

Ford Excursion :: Exhaust Leak On Passenger Side

We bought the X like almost year an a half or two years ago. Since the day we bought her shes had an exhaust leak on the pass side. Ive been a mechanic forever and it didn't bother me at purchase. Well I finally get around to it this last weekend. My son and I get to repairing her on saturday. Well we got manifold off with the intention of ordering a new set of headers. Well Luke talks me into just replacing the broken stud (got lucky only had 1 on the pass side). And replacing the gasket. So I took the manifold to get resurfaced,got the new studs and gaskets.

We reassy everything. It went well, start her up and wow shes finally quiet. I love it. So were sitting there admiring our work (took most the day as we had to drive 40 minutes away 1 way to get parts and angle drill alone). As were sitting there chattin for 5 minutes im like do you hear that.....Its getting louder luke WTF.....WELL IN 5 MINUTES THE DAMN LEAK IS BACK... It sounds like its back at the original place but while listing with a hose it sounds like its also at the y pipe. But the sound can be traveling......

I def am not a fan of Autozones felpro gaskets but they have worked in the past. But they look NOTHING like the factory units but still should work. Well I searched all weekend and read tons of posts on what to get. As I def want to replace the y pipe also. In the end said ok,what the hell. I just got off the phone with BANKS. I ordered headers,y pipe,gaskets,etc. I didnt want to spend that much but after pricing headers (from all manuf's and a new y pipe) the BANKS complete system wasn't much more...

Kit should be here tomorrow or wed at the latest. And I just want my X to be exhaust leak free. Im not big on taken pics during install of stuff but ill try and ill post up after it done.

Ford Excursion :: 2000 - Diesel Fuel Leak

My 2000 7.3 excursion has a diesel fuel leak. I don't now where to start looking to fix this. I hope it's not a hard line. I don't even see the leak and I don't know where to look a shop doing a safety inspection said I had a diesel fuel leak and fuel was collecting in the valley.

Where I should start looking. Is this an expensive fix? Is the common place to check that is easy to repair?

I average 16.5 miles per gallon. My fuel economy dropped about 1 1/2 years ago after my CPS was replaced due to recall. My truck is 2000 4x4 limited.

Ford Excursion :: Slight Leak Just At The Axle By The U-Joints

Our axle seal went out 2500 Miles ago. Its a light leak and just wets the axle by the U-Joints. Also our 4x4 hubs don't kick into action when they should. I have to put them in Lock to get them to work. That may be why the axle seal went out, because I just leave it in lock then drive thousands of highway miles. (I don't do that anymore now that I know what I was doing) Maybe the vacuum isn't working. Could they have anything to do with each other? I don't think they do. I'm not sure how the vacuum works. Maybe I just need to service the Hub? I watched a video on it that made it seem like cake. New hubs crazy expensive!
