I tried the test mode (hold trip reset and turn ignition to run) this revealed that the needle for the speedometer does sweep from zero to max and back, could it still be the cluster? Is there something I am missing? FWIW the odometer lights up but does not work and all other gauges seem to be functioning correctly.
View 10 RepliesI have a 97 f150 2wd 4.2. my speedo is working on and off, my overdrive button is flashing and its shifting terrible. I changed the vss in the top of the rear diff but no luck... is there another sensor I should change? or go back and start looking at the wiring to the on in the diff. she has 353k on her and was running great till this.

1. Had dealer change plugs
2. Changed Cop's
3. Cleaned MAF sensor
The 5.4L has slight miss and doesn't respond well at all when trying to pass or going uphills.
i just got an F150 supercrew 5.4L 4x4. has approximately 180k miles but motor and tranny run clean and smooth. issue i am having is the OD light flashes but no other service light is on. i had code read and said it was a Differential Feedback Pressure Sensor (DFPS). Replaced the sensor and hoses but still the light is flashing. i have not changed EGR as of yet due to money but was wondering if i could maybe get pointed in the right direction. the Tranny does not seem to be operating improperly except at low speeds it tends to shift between OD and 3rd on occasion.

View 1 RepliesI have a 1997 ford f-150 flareside 4x4 and the interior lights have not worked since I purchased the truck.I checked the bulb and it was burnt out so I replaced it and still does not work.
The truck was hit on the 3rd door on the passenger side before I bought it and I think they may have done something to keep the interior light from coming on by accident when not shutting the door all the way.
I checked the number 14 fuse which is where I think the interior fuse it on this truck, what I could check to be my problem?
So I'm getting code p0500 the question I have is will the speed sensor on the tail on my transmission cause this code on my 99 f150 4x4 . the reason I ask is because this sensor has been broken off . I'm hopeful it only control's my speedometer and is not related to the code . I've tried to remove what is left however in fear if I get it loose it may fall into the transmission. I will be replacing the speed sensor on the pumpkin this weekend . but the transmission it's the upper one is broke off below the surface of the transmission this is a manual transmission....

I can once and for all say I'm sick of the wipers working only with the steering wheel in the "up" position. Is it a big deal to tear into the column and replace that stinking multi-switch/harness? 378000 miles ....
View 1 RepliesMy 2002 Excursion was rear ended. Body shop replaced the bumper. I noticed that the reverse aid was no longer working. I checked and noticed that non of the sensors were working. It was working before they replaced the bumper. If the speaker is out, would the four rear sensor still tick? I find it mighty strange, that it worked before and after the accident. Now that they've replaced the bumber, Every time it's placed in reverse, the light comes on.
View 4 RepliesDrove 97 LHS home from work back at the end of June on a 100 plus day, it seemed fine, no indication of any problem. Got in it the next morning to go to work and it would not start. Cranks fine, hear fuel pump. So a few days pass before my husband can look at it. He did get codes. He replaced the ignition coil, put on a new fuel filter, and replaced a couple of modules. It would still not start. We towed it to a service station that we have used for years.
They replaced the camshaft sensor (and fixed the AC). I drove it for 8 days, no problems. Then on the morning of the 9th day, it would not start!! Exact same symptoms. So towed it again back to the service station. Then they said it was the PCM (control module). Husband went to junk yard to get one (much cheaper). Service shop put it in and then said that was not the problem and replaced the crankshaft sensor instead. Say it was ready to pick up. I went and paid again! Got key and came back later with husband to pick it up. IT would not start!!!
97 ranger 2.3l 5spd ... I keep getting p0500 code. the speedometer and odometer work fine. I understand they get they're reading from the OSS on the transmission. Now I also have the vss in the axle housing which I believe is what gives the ultimate speed reading to the pcm that way there is no need to ever adjust for axle ratio.
When using the torque app with my obd reader my OBD MPH guage does nothing until I get to about 55 then it bounces around randomly between 20 and 55 and once I hit 60 mph it reads correctly. I have tried 3 different vss sensors checked wire continuity from sensor to firewall examined the teeth/sprocket that gives the vss it's reading and it all checks out...
My questions are:
- What volts or ohms are supposed to come out of the plug end so I can test if the signal to the sensor is working
- Looking for wiring schematics for this sensor to pcm...my schematic only has the oss.
My dealership said our left rear is noisy and that we need new wheel bearings and a speed sensor and to do an alignment and balance. I called my other wheel place and they are about $300 cheaper. But, they said I have the option of an OEM wheel bearing or different one. I'm a little confused, but I think the OEM would be about $85 more, if I understood correctly. Whether or not to get OEM for this?
View 19 RepliesMy mother in laws 2012 Santa Fe had a number of dash lights on (ABS, hill decent, stability control). I put my scanner on it and came up with fault code C1209 which showed up as a faulty right rear wheel speed sensor. I have replaced this module and then cleared the codes.
However, the dash lights still light up and the vehicle continues to throw the same code. I don't work on Hyundai's very often so I am at a bit of a loss.
My AC compressor failed so I replaced it.
I put in 1 can of R134, and I don't see the compressor cycling.
How do I remove the connector to the accumulator so I can jump it and force the AC to run.
Well...I had the ECM replaced on my 2002 F150. She ran great for about 60 miles. I had trouble with the key right off at the dealer - it wouldn't start, so I flipped the key over, and it started. Drove about 35 miles, and had starting issues a couple of times, but minor, and over quickly. Came home, and did not drive it for a week. Got in this morning, and it WOULD NOT START. Turned over normal, but won't start. Now I am stuck 15 miles from the dealer who programmed it, and no way to get it there. Anything that I can do to get it started to make the trip?

Both needles bounce while maintaining a constant speed, example going 80mph in 6th, RPM moves +/-100ish RPM and speed is 1-2 MPH. The car doesn't actually move, just the gauges. Engine doesn't sound like its miss firing MPG was 30 going 80 so it seems to run just fine. Going through the gears playing around its smooth and normal.
I'm on a road trip so very limited on anything to diagnose, just looking for some insight.
My speed control has not worked in years and I do not use them any more any way. I want to remove the control area on each side of the steering wheel, the covers are all messed up so I would like to make it look like it came without them. Can I do this and if so how?

View 1 RepliesYesterday I decided to tune up my 2003 5.4 for the 1st time at 82k miles. I replaced all 8 coils with MSD coils & motorcraft plugs. After doing so I went to turn over the ignition & got 1 single click, motor wouldn't even turn over. Battery is 3 months. Truck ran just fine prior to tune up other than the slight misfire I was starting to get.
When I was working on the passenger side I did disconnect the big bracket that had the multiple wire harness on the fire wall underneath the starter solenoid to gain access to the rear plug/coil. Where to start troubleshooting? I checked the fuses under the hood & dash but nothing looked blown.
On a side note I remember when I was putting everything away I tried to lock the truck with the Ford factory transmitter & it wouldn't lock?! I had to open the door & press the power lock button to lock the doors.
