My windshield wipers on my 97 f150 go very slow. Not sure if it's bad motors or what but I find it weird for them both to go at the same time. Is there a relay that could be causing this?
View 2 Repliestell a difference between "Lo" and "Hi" with your wipers? I'm worried mine might be failing because on Skippy there's not 10c worth of difference between the two. Hi is barely faster than Lo.
Also, wheres the wiper motor located? Is it under the vent cowl with the wiper arms?
My Windshield wipers randomly come on once in a while. I've noticed it more on a warmer day, but sometimes even when it is cold. There is really no pattern, sometimes the go once, sometimes they go for 2-3 minutes. Where should I start? Switch or wiper motor, maybe something else?

View 4 RepliesI have a 1997 explorer 5.0 AWD. The problem is that when it is about 44 degrees and below, the windshield wipers, power windows, and interior lights don't and won't work. We will run the heater until it warms up the interior, then everything seems to work fine. I usually leave the wipers on so I know when it is warmed up enough. I have checked all of the fuses and all are fine. the only thing that I can think of is there is a crack in the back of the fuseblock that breaks contact when the metal is cold.
View 2 RepliesI have intermittent loss of the windshield wipers, AC/heater fan and lights (and the brake light is lit even with brake off). I can turn the bright lights on by pulling the lever. Other electronic things work- radio, inside lights, turn signals. Usually if I turn the car off and start over it goes away. Fuses appear ok. It's a VW Jetta 97 GLS with about 75K miles. where to start?

View 16 RepliesThis is for a 2003 GTI, 89,00 miles. Every time I try to use the windshield cleaner the fuse blows for the windshield wipers. I have tried to put in a 25 amp fuse and it worked for a while but still blew. The windshield wiper motor has been replaced.
View 1 RepliesMy 03 GX470 has an issue where the windshield wipers will randomly stop working. It doesn't matter what setting they are on, auto, low, high, they work fine for a few minutes, then just stop mid stroke. They sometimes start back again on their own after a minute or so, but usually, I have to turn the switch to other settings a few times, to get it going again. Inevitably though, the wipers only work for a few minutes more, before stopping again. What could be causing this?
View 5 RepliesI have a 2001 ford f150 4.2 five speed with a little over 250,000 miles. The wipers will not do anything. I have gotten a new motor and plugged it in before I installed it and checked it and still nothing. I have changed the switch on the column and they still did not work. I have tried checking with a multimeter and a probe light. I do not know what is wrong with them or where else to go. What to do or what to check next?

Getting some rain here in az causing me to use my windshield wipers....which is rare. I can once and for all say I'm sick of the wipers working only with the steering wheel in the "up" position. View 1 RepliesI was warming my truck up this morning and I turned my wipers on to get the bit of snow on my windshield off. The wipers moved a few inches, stopped, and a mechanical buzzing noise is coming from under the wipers. I can move the wipers with my hand and they'll go all the way up and return to the bottom, but do the exact same thing when they move again. I searched the forum but can't find anything about the wiper problem I'm having. I also see a lot of discussion about GEM in relation to wipers...

In off pos. they don't return to bottom of windshield, only the constant settings works perfect intermittent setting the wipers swipe up and stop instead of swiping back down it waits until the next interval to swipe down so I'm waiting about a min to get 1 full swipe up and down sometime when they swipe up they stop right b4 they get to the top or in the middle and when switched off where every they are at that's where they stay so I have switch off and on to get them to go down as far as they'll go when done using them..
View 6 RepliesI have a sporadic problem with my wipers - most of the time they run correct but sometimes there is an annoying chatter - I have the Bosch replacements and they run well even when dry but every once in a while they start chattering. One time the wiper blade even fell off.....if I go to the dealer, they want to see the problem but if it is sporadic they can do nothing (had a problem with a speaker and it took 3 tries before they heard the defect) - what was the solution?

I am posting this here as it is in reference to the 5.4 motor but in a 2001 Expedition.
My wife was driving our 2001 Expo the other day and the warning light came on that the windshield washer fluid was low. When she got home I popped the top the re fill the washer fluid and there was what appeared to be green coolant in the reservoir. It even smelled like coolant.
It filled the reservoir about half way which made me wonder why even though it was coolant it made the washer fluid light come on. I then checked the coolant reservoir and it had fluid in it but it looked brown and nasty. The motor is the 5.4. What is going on?
So yesterday i got my windshield tinted at a shop and now im having issues. My ac stays on when the key is out of the ignition i can use all settings from low to high. My windshield wipers only work in neutral and park. Im calling them when they open but i think the water they spray on the tint got down in the dash and fried something.
