Strange noise from what sounds like the suspension when I accelerate and then when I turn also. Truck was in Hawaii so that might have something to do with it. How do I get these noises to stop?

When accelerating and turning from a stop (like making a left hand turn), the rear end kind of stutters and then hops/bumps and goes smooth. One wheel turning faster than the other? Researching this site it sounds like the bad clutch packs TSB.
Question: How long can I drive with this problem before I mess something else up seriously on the truck?
i have a 2007 F150 Fx4, with 94,000 miles. When I hit the speed of around 40-45 and I step on the gas it starts to chug until I press harder down the it gets out and runs just fine. The thing that confuses me is it doesn't always do it. Id say about 3 times a week. I am replacing my fuel filter tomorrow. I purchased this truck with 85k on it, and this just started happening. The spark plugs have never been changed. And am thinking about taking it in to get those done too. I also tested all my injectors and they are all working. No codes have been thrown either.
View 6 RepliesSo I bought this 2007 used with 86K on the engine. After 2 days cats code went off and i had both replaced with brand new ones. Now my truck is making a rattling as i step on the gas at about 2500 rpms. Its sounds like metal in a can swirling around amd as i let off gas the sound stops. It happens often, also the other day in was pulling off and heard a grind for about 2 seconds then stopped never beard it again, it sounds like its coming from the rear passenger side. It sounds like a bearing. This is the noise.

07 f150 4x4 shudders when starting from a stop going around corners. I was thinking of changing the diff. fluid. Is this a good start?
View 7 RepliesI have a 2007 Camry le 4 cylinder. When under a load on the highway there is an occasional buzzing that occurs when accelerating (sounds like a piece of metal vibrating at a high pitch). It only happens under about 3000 RPMs and the noise doesn't occur any other time (idle, reving the engine while idle, slow speeds, etc.). Today I got it up on a lift and checked all of the heat shields under the hood and around the exhaust under the car. Nothing seemed loose. I had two mechanics look at it and one thinks that the exhaust flex pipe is the culprit, while the other insists that this is a known issue with the resonator (said a small piece may have broken off of a baffle inside and is vibrating). Are either of these components well known to cause this type of issue? I'd rather not replace both if one is frequently the cause.
View 3 RepliesMy 2007 Camry makes clunking noises when I turn the steering wheel to the left mostly. This happens most often when the weather is warm and hot but not during the winter time.
The noise seems to come only from around the steering wheel area inside my vehicle. Hence, I don't think it has to do with the CV Joints or anything like that but the steering wheel unit.
My 2004 Volvo S60 has 99,000 miles on it. Just today it started making a quiet noise like an electric golf cart when I accelerate. Also just today it developed a quiet grinding noise when I turn the wheels (but only if the car is moving). I just had a clutch replaced by on the a/c compressor and I have my car serviced according to schedule. What the problem(s) could be?

It has 124K miles on it, when it's cruising, there is no weird noise from the engine, but when I give it gas at any speed, there is a distinct sound coming from the rear of the engine. It sounds like when you put a playing card on your bike and the spokes hit it, but faster. The more gas, the louder the sound. It's gotten progressively worse lately. My first thought was rattling valves, but I'm not sure. It also sounds like a hole in a vacuum hose or something. With the hood up and an ear to the engine, the sound is definitely coming from the engine, not around it, and toward the rear.

The issue: When accelerating from a stop or a slow rolling start, turning right or left, I get a shimmy (vibration) that seems to be coming from under my feet. Not a violent shimmy, but enough to make me certain that something is loose or out of alignment in the drivetrain. IT IS NOT THE REAR END as friends have constantly told me. Rear end was serviced and cluth packs lubricated with no change in issue.
What I've done: Changed transfer case fluid, new front driveshaft, new u joints and carrier bearing on rear driveshaft. There has been no improvement after these repairs, if anything the vibration is a little worse and easier to induce.
I've been chasing this problem for over a year. Going to be pulling a Toy Hauler out west this falls and really need to repair this for my piece of mind..
I bought a 2008 5.4l xlt about a year ago now. For the first time I took it on a trail that had a little mud. With my incredible wisdom, I decided to park the truck rather than wash it off. The next day the engine started making weird noises when I turned the steering wheel. After washing the truck it still made noises so I opened the hood. THE ENTIRE engine compartment is covered in a serious amount of mud. I feel that this has to be what started the noises when I turn. Mud dried in the wrong place? The noise sounds like a whine and its pitch matches the engine rpm until over 2500 where I don't really hear it anymore. Is there a way to flush the engine compartment?

View 2 RepliesMy 2005 150 4X4 made a "clunk" noises several times when in 4 wheel this last weekend.
Sounded like the transfer case wasn't fully engaged.
This was after doing numerous 3 point turns on a dead end road to turn around. A real nightmare, cliffs on one side mountain on the other.
when we got back to relativity flat ground it ran fine with no more "clunking" noises.
It has 95K of hard miles on it. We didn't want to get stuck out of cell phone range, so we headed home.
Ok, I have done some reading here and from what I can tell I don't think that it is the cam phasers or solenoid. This only ticks when you give it gas. Sounds fine at idle, going down hill, anytime I am not on the gas. Injectors maybe?
2004 FX4 5.4 176000 miles....
Truck is 08' with 5.4, 3.55 gears, auto trans. 84k miles. Recently purchased from the TSA fleet trucks, so I have no clue what PM procedures were done prior to me getting it.
I noticed the following: when I get the truck into OD and then slowly decelerate (meaning I let it coast and im not braking) to about 40mph then get on the gas (normal acceleration) the truck bucks hard almost like when your spinning wheels on snow or ice and put the truck in 4wd and the front rear locks. or a limited slip rear that catches when one wheel is spinning.
if I accelerate hard the truck pushes thru it and doesn't buck as bad. I have searched this out and there are several threads about it that describe just about exactly what im talking about, the following have been brought up as possible problems:
1) bad spark plug/s and or coil/s
this seems to be the most common answer to the possible problem.
2)broke valve spring
3) bad torque convertor
So at 84k miles im thinking replacing the spark plugs would be fine to do as a PM. So coils.............should I just go ahead and replace them as well? I found them (motorcraft). does that seem right?
As far as spark plugs, I have already read the horror stories on the 04-08's breaking the plug in the head. I have also read that before 10/07 was the trucks that had the issue. my build date is 02/08. am I good to go with normal removal of the plugs? the best method I have read for removing them is spray carb cleaner down the hole and let it soak overnight and then the next day drive the truck get it nice and hot and remove them right after you park it,,,,
I have a 2004 F-150 5.4 Liter 4X4 supercrew with 6" lift and 35" tires. The truck has 123K miles on it. I am the second owner of the truck. In early fall the truck started making what I can only describe as a mild and inconsistent "stutter" upon accelerating between 40-50 MPH. It does not do it all of the time and really depends on the speed at which you accelerate. Sometimes it will happen between 50-55 MPH but primarily it is between 40-50. If you accelerate quickly though at that speed, it rarely ever happens.
Anyways, I changed the fuel filter (pretty sure it was the original as it was nasty and had chunks falling out of it), flushed the fuel injector system at a shop, gassed it up and treated the tank with fuel treatment, and removed the AIRRAID air filter, cleaned it out (blew out with air, flushed with water, dried and re-oiled it). The truck had A LOT more power behind it, my fuel mileage increased and for about a day, this stuttering did not occur. It has now started up again.
My question is whether or not this could be caused by old spark plugs or is it a transmission issue? The truck runs great otherwise. We've looked at the plugs and they appear to be the original plugs. I bought the truck with about 100K on it and have put the rest of the miles on myself. I'm trying to figure out if it is an issue with the plugs or if it is related to the automatic transmission as I'm sure the fluid hasn't been changed in it either. I know I'm going to have to do both but want to know what is more likely the issue at hand.
I've been living with a mild "clunk" or "bump" in the drive train when I would first begin to accelerate from a full complete stop. It would only happen after a complete stop. It almost felt like it could be normal, but it seemed to be getting worse over time.
At first I thought it was my transmission...but after some internet searching I found some threads talking about the slip yoke on the drive shaft being the cause. In that the slip yoke needs to be pulled apart and re-lubed.
Anyway, I thought I'd post and let eveyone know that after pulling the slip yoke and re-lubing with grease my issue is solved! The "clunk" is totally gone. 100% Smooth now. If has this issue I'd highly recommend re-lubing the slip yoke.

On my 2004 F-150 SuperCrew, all I needed to do was remove the drive shaft at the rear differential (4 bolts, use 12mm 12 point socket or wrench). Then remove the FRONT clamp on the slip yoke boot. Then slide out the rear 1/2 of the drive shaft. Be sure to mark the drive shaft orientation with the rear differential flange and the slip yoke before you remove the drive shaft to ensure you put it back together correctly.
Re-lube the slip yoke, then slide it back together and reinstall the four bolts at the rear differential. Torque spec is 76 ft-lbs. I used Valvoline FORD-LINCOLN-MERCURY moly grease that I purchased at my local AutoZone. You'll also need to install a new band clamp around the rubber slip yoke boot. I got mine from AutoZone.

i own a 2005 f150 supercrew fx4. Today as I was attempting to go out of town I was accelerating up hill and heard a noise, sounded like air coming through a window seal or scratching, which is not the problem. The noise only came on when i increased the acceleration, there is no power loss, the truck still accelerated properly and had good power, just that the noise came on. so i returned home only to hear the problem on flat land also, when pressing the gas to accelerate. The truck seems to idle fine and have no problem with low acceleration.

I was walking around the truck today and I noticed that the back right tire doesn't have a weight on it. I thought this was wierd. Could a weight have fallen off thus causing the vibrations, or is this normal for one wheel to not have a weight?
View 13 RepliesI purchased a 2006 Ford F-150 XLT, 5.4 3V Triton. Last Thursday my check engine light came on, so I came to this forum and found out how to retrieve the code with out a OBD. It came up as a 0301 Misfire cylinder 1-10?
I went to the dealer and they said it was cylinder one, sold me a new plug and coil pack and they installed it for a nice $$$. On my way home it started to sputter again when you give it heavy throttle, I called they told me that I should change all the plugs and Coil packs, kinda makes sense but to have all 8 plugs and coils go at once it only has 83km on it.
Ok, I have a 2006 Ford f-150 5.4L engine. it has 88000 miles on it. Here recently it has started acting up on me. It starts shaking violently when I slightly accelerate going up hills at any speed. On level ground it doesn't do it. Going down hill it doesn't do it. When stopped it doesn't idle rough.
It does this shaking when I barely press the gas. When it starts I either let off the gas or I push the gas to the floor and it stops. What is going on? This is the first Ford I have ever known. I don't know anything about these vehicles. I have read it might be the coils and plugs but then people have told me it might be the torque converter.
