How to change out the bulb(s) for the overhead console map lights. The lights that you push on / off. Since the owners manual doesn't cover bulb replacemnet for that.

But how do I take this apart? Looks like the clear plastic lens is superglued.
I have checked the fuses, Checked the relays, Checked for pinched wires and checked for a loose connection at the fuse box, Both power mirrors and the overhead console lights do not work, Power windows work fine, Manual seats .
View 1 RepliesAs far as I can tell, Expeditions, Excursions and Navigators all had this same part in them but for whatever reason it seems like it's next to impossible to find on its own - I don't want to buy a whole overhead console for one part.
Here is what I'm talking about:
I want to replace the lens and buttons, not just the missing button (which is somewhere inside my truck)
Is it Part #5 on this? [URL] ....
I can't find an individual part # - Is it because the overhead console was sold as a whole?
The read out light on my overhead console (the read out that tells the awesome fuel mileage Im getting) isnt working, and hasnt been since I got my excursion a month ago. Thats the only thing on it that doesnt work and was wondering if it could be a bulb, or is this a common problem and if so whats the fix?
View 10 RepliesDo the Ford Expedition overhead console is identical to the Excursion? I have an '04 XLT and the overhead console is damaged. I found a replacement unit for the '04 Expedition in the same color and the seller has no idea if the units are interchangeable.

View 14 RepliesBought a 2004 f350 lariat last fall. Overhead console was missing. Finally got around to replacing the display. Temp, compass works fine, but mileage and distance to empty are way off. Display typically shows 13.5mpg but when manually calculating am usually closer to 17. Distance to empty is way off as well. I did some research but didn't find much on how to recalibrate it. No difference with or without tunes.
View 8 RepliesLike most older superduty trucks my overhead console doesn't work. I removed it and got the thing apart. Low and behold there were 4 of the resistors loose in the plastic housing. Looking for a diagram that shows the location of these so I can resolder them? My truck is an 04 lariat with sunroof which seems to be different than non sunroof trucks.
View 2 RepliesI just replaced (or almost replaced) the bulb on the passenger side of my 2008 prius. It is a HID bulb. I got the old one out, the new one in and connected and verified it is working. Now trying to get the cover back on that provides the weather proofing and unless im wrong... the braided wire that connects to the back of the bulb is in the way. It looks like it has to go thru the opening that the cover is supposed to seal... Imagine a rope hanging over the edge of a bucket you are trying to put a cover on... Am i wrong here? did I miss something?

I wanted to replace the bulbs in my map light but ran into some problems. I was able to remove the first see-through plastic cover on the light. Also I was able to twist one of the bulbs out of the socket so it was loose but there didn't seem to be a way to pull the bulbs out of their metal holders. I tried with medium to light pressure on the right side bulb and it slipped from my fingers and jumped back into the area on the other side of the metal holders. Now I can't see it or reach it. What do I need to remove to retrieve the bulb and how do I remove it?

View 14 RepliesI have a 2004 Touareg V8 (55K miles). Recently I've noted significant rain drippage from the overhead console (sunroof equipped). I've reviewed this forum and note some previous communications regarding similar leakage, which apparently was attributable to poor seals between the outer skin and the sunroof structure (and there has been a TSB released for cars under New Car Warranty).
Is there a system of drains that are accessible (as in my 2000 Jetta, which drains through channels in the door posts) which could become clogged, and which I could unclog (as in my Jetta), before I spend the money and hassle of taking my Touareg to the dealer/service person?
2004 F-150 XLT, 3rd brake light bulb has blown and the bulb holder is brittle and the clip that holds the bulb in the holder on each side have broken off. Is there a way I can replace the holder itself or do I have to buy a whole new 3rd brake light wire harness?
