Is there a way to turn all interior lights on the dash off when the headlights are off?
It is so bright that you can't see in the dark with everything off without being blinded.
The Issue: Dash display reads "Passenger Door Ajar", interior lights stay on, drains battery
Current Fixes I've completed
Sprayed electrical cleaner in all 4 door latch assemblies (didn't work)
Relubricated all 4 door latch assemblies with food grade lithium grease (didn't work)
Replaced passenger door full latch assembly (didn't work)
What is my next step? I have noticed that if I wedge the door lock button on the driver's side door into the lock position, the door ajar message turns off and stays off? I was thinking wiring or relay issues?
Recently picked up a 2013 F150 XLT. Reasonably basic truck. Supercab, 2wd, 5.0L, 6 speed, trailer towing package with brake controller......
We are about to head out on a 2 week camping trip. We will be at one site for the entire 2 weeks, and the truck will be driven very little during that time. Problem is that numerous people go in and out of the truck many times per day, x2 weeks. My previous tow vehicle had a means for turning off the interior lights during the daytime, when the doors would be constantly opening and closing.
This truck has interior lights and exterior lights and puddle lights and probably lights I don't even know about that come on and stay on for about 15-20 seconds every time the door opens. It has a funky rocker switch, that I hate, for the dash lights, that doesn't seem to turn off the interior lights. (I forgot the owners manual for the truck at a relatives place a week ago, so I can't check in there). Is there a way to manually keep the lights off during the day to save my battery?
For my 2013 with HID lights, I'm adding a light bar, and trying to find a good wire to tap into so I can wire in a relay to turn the light bar on with my high beams. As it's going to a relay, I originally thought to use a fuse tap, but the high beam fuse is always powered. Any other wire I can use in the cab?
I'm also looking for an in cab wire for the reverse lights I'm adding. I've been trying to make sense of the wiring diagrams online, but I am not having any success.
Did a search and read the manual and I cant seem to turn of the dome lights when I open the doors. For example... Sometimes my daughter falls asleep and I want to open the door at night without the lights coming on... Or If the mosquitoes are going crazy I might want to turn off the light so I don't get killed... I know I can hold the switch to the right and it turns lights on with doors closed, and hold for a second to the left to turn off. But what about opening the door? I know my old 2007 was able to do this function...

View 4 RepliesMy wife has been driving this Escape for about a year after driving one she inherited from her father to 162K miles. This one has just under 70K now.
In the last month or so, the interior lights have begun to come on and go off at will. It can happen going down the road, or sitting in the garage for hours. When it's running, the door chime may or may not sound. It sometimes comes on when it hits a bump, sometimes without one. I looked at it earlier, and the light was on. (I have turned the center one off. I don't see a way to turn off the front ones) An hour later the light is off. No one has been in the car since this afternoon.
She says the car is haunted, and is now calling it Casper, even though it's solid black.
I have tried the standard fix of lubricating the door latches several times. There are six latches including the rear hatch and rear window. I have used CRC electrical cleaner as well as subsequent doses of good old WD 40. I don't know if there is an easy why to tell which switch might be causing the problem, so I have taken the shotgun approach.
The two remaining bulbs are tiny, so the battery has not run completely down, YET. The car is driven almost daily, sometimes several times in a day. I'm beginning to think that the situation may not be caused by one of the door switches. What else can it be? Why does it cycle like that? I doubt that it's haunted.
When the rear window was up, the interior lights stayed on. I couldn't find the valet switch to depress/turn them off. How can I turn off the interior lights while the back window is open? I have only had the Excursion for a month so I am still figuring it all out.
View 8 RepliesOur 2011 Fiesta wouldn't start, key in the ignition and all the interior lights would come up on dash and interior. Friend of mine said, "sounds like a relay", came over and he swapped the low beam relay to the starter relay (said they where the same), car started just fine.
We put the bad relay in the glovebox, and planned to run to the auto store today. Except today it won't start in the exact same way it wouldn't start yesterday. Do i have 2 bad relay's in 2 days? Or as i suspect is this is a sign of a bigger issue?
I recently purchased a 2011 Ford Edge with the My-Touch control system. I am planning on taking it to music festivals where I "camp" in and around my vehicle. Some of the lights go on every time a door or hatch is opened. As I am in and out of the vehicle day and night, is there a way to disable this feature?. I ask mostly because of lights bothering me and others, but am a little concerned about battery drain. It could be up to a week without starting or driving. I do turn the headlights off, but others (inside and out) come on.

If I can get a diagram and where I can order it online would be awesome,if that's possible. Never had this problem before on any ford truck with the interior paint and all I ever do is wipe it down with armor all.

View 9 Replies2009 Lariat. Paint peeling off front of dash on airbag cover, vin# says HW for the code what color is that. Can't figure out what HW means, it's either Camel Parchment or Medium Camel Interior don't want to waste money on the wrong vinyl paint.
View 2 RepliesThe last month or so, I have noticed that my dash board lights (red lights) and my actual interior lights that come on when you open the doors to vehicle will flicker sometimes...And it can get bad I guess and annoying. It's more of it pulsating really. I noticed today while driving home and I had the radio on loud it was doing it and I do not know if was just in my head that it was doing it more when the radio was loud or what, but this is ridiculous.

View 16 RepliesIt's that horrible sound when you first turn the key. Those few beeps. Or it's the same sound if the car's turned on and you open the driver's door. That beeping sound! I'll just be driving down the street or highway and it just turns on! And it'll stay on!! Sometimes it'll go off if I open and close my door. Sometimes it'll go off if I unlock and lock the doors. When the sound turns on for no reason, the interior lights also come on as if a doors open.

My Coming Home and Leaving Home functions are turned off due to the HID Headlights, but the interior lights worked fine since the HID installation in 11/13. It is a 2013 Passat SE 2.5. Is there a setting in VCDS for the interior light function.
View 7 RepliesI have a 2002 Ford Explorer. For about the last year some of the dash lights have been turning on and off randomly and intermittently. The three lights are the check engine, the airbag and less frequently, the check gauge light. It seems like there's some connection between the lights because often when one comes on so does another and often one will turn off, but immediately another will turn on. My mechanic (not a Ford dealer) tried to fix the check engine light by diagnosing and fixing the indicated codes, but a day later the light came back on. It stayed on for a week, then one morning it stayed off, but the airbag light came on. Is there some electronic (or other) component that links these three lights and could be causing this situation?
View 1 RepliesI went to get in car today, and the driver screen, needles, and dash lighting was flicking or pulsing.. like a wave rolling through the lcd. its got 1k miles on it, jsw tdi.
i did open the trunk, without unlocking from fob, just trunk button, then it auto locked again when i shut it. have never done that before, so maybe this causes it? i let it sit awhile, and all back to normal.
on a side note, got my 20% tint on all around today and looking good need a drop then wheels.
I want to replace the interior reading lights but not sure how to do so. I've taken a flathead screwdriver and popped out the plastic cover and revealed three bulbs. Am I supposed to twist them or pull them straight out? Or am I doing this completely wrong and should i pop out a cover or something?
