I can trace at least part of it back to the rear window (but I'm wondering about the windshield as well, just based on my luck). I'd be willing to repair it myself, but I'm not above paying a pro if the work is over my head. I'm looking through some Ford-specific sites as well but no luck..

View 5 RepliesSon has a 1987 ford ranger 2.9 engine 5 speed 4x4 truck. See anti freeze leaking @ the rear of the engine where the intake attaches to the block. How long to re & re the intake, ect. Is it just gaskets or what? Is it a big job?

I'm kinda worried about this while I'm offshore because I have a power sliding window and I don't want it to ruin anything that moves the window. Do these trucks have a problem with this and where do I start to look at to fix this?
View 2 Replies2001 Ranger 4 liter 4 door My driver side window goes up and the electric motor does not stop running when the window reaches its normal upper position. Instead it goes bang-bang-bang until I take my finger off of the switch. I'm guessing there is a limit switch that should disconnect the motor but has failed. The bang-bang (again I'm guessing) probably is some sort of a spring loaded torque limiter to protect the motor. Other than that, the window goes up & down as it normally should. I have no problem digging into the door, except with the window, door lock and outside mirror switches, I don't have a clue regarding how to get the inside door panel off. I know to disconnect the battery 1st.

View 2 RepliesI have a problem with my 2002 Ford Ranger XLT Super Cab's passenger window. It seems like it has a loose connection, but I am not sure what the exact problem is. When I try to move the passenger window from the driver side control panel, nothing happens. The driver side window works fine. On the passenger side control panel, I can hear the motor trying to move the window when I try to put it up (the window is already up).
When I try to put it down, I hear nothing unless I push the button repeatedly - anywhere from 3 to 20 times. When the window is partially down, moving up always works, but I have to keep trying to push the button to make it go down. I have tried pushing down on the window while I press the down button and spraying white lithium grease in the window tracks while the window was down, as well as pulling part of the seal away from the window while I tried to make it go down.
I have a 2001 Ford Ranger XLT with a power window issue. My passenger window doesn't go up but it will go down. My headlights don't dim when I press the up/down window passenger buttons on the driver side as well as up on the passenger side. The window will go up randomly as if nothing is wrong but I don't know what the issue is. I've checked the power distribution box and fuse box but didn't find any issues. All I can tell is that it's an electrical issue.
View 6 RepliesI have a 2001 ford f150 with a rear sliding window. This is an extended cab. Whenever it rains, there are a couple of leaks from the top of the window leaking onto the rear bench. I just purchased the truck. So do I have any repair tips? May be worn out weatherstripping?
View 3 RepliesMy rear window is leaking on my '97 f-150. When it rains water gets in on the passenger side only. I know from reading that this is a common problem. I've tightened up the fasteners that hold the window in place, but it still leaks. Could the high mount brake light be the entry point? Is there supposed to be a gasket behind it? Or is any water that may get behind it supposed to be channeled away somehow?
View 14 RepliesI have a 1999 Ford Ranger XLT and it has been getting wet inside and I would like to get this fixed, but have no idea of where the water is coming in at.
I also noticed that at time there is allot of moisture in the inside on the windshield, have no idea where that is coming from?
Also if I have my Floor Mats in and left them up it will be wet under them NO matter if it is Winter or Summer, so I took them out.
Also I have noticed that behind the seat on both side it gets wet and I have that window that you can open in the middle, would it be coming from there?
Also what would cause the doors to freeze and you have to pull as hard to get them open in the Winter time, are the seals bad on the doors?
I have unfortunately discovered that rain is coming through the rear window of my truck. If it was a big job to fix it. The caulking appears to be rotten and I'm wondering if some goop will seal it up. I'm just not sure how to get the trim off!!

Brake cleaner leak test definitely results in engine rpm change right around "butterfly rod" plug in front of intake manifold near no. 1 cyl. I'm pretty sure that's the problem - the plastic plug blew out. I watched a video showing repair, but it seems lacking.
I do not want to loosen up intake for access - I'd rather remove steering pump and gain some access to plug it up. There still isn't much access but, but eyeballing it, enough to plug, I think.
Three steering pump bolts came out easy. The fourth one is behind fluid line - extremely difficult to access, imo.
Somehow try to remove pump for access to intake hole, or bite the bullet and remove intake manifold for access?
I've been having to add a quart of oil between every 3,000 mile oil change. This is a used 2000 2.5L motor now with about 150,000 miles on it and 317,000 on my truck. I notice the oil is coming from somewhere on the side maybe in a few places. I think the oil plug is dripping a little. I'm going to try an OEM Ford plug because I've changed them several times with aftermarket plugs and they never seal right. I thought it might be the oil pan gasket but it doesn't really look wet around the flange all the way around.
Then I checked higher up thinking it maybe the valve cover gasket which has been replaced and it's drive around the cover. I noticed under the power steering pump bracket it's all wet with oil. It's not the power steering, I've never had to add to it. It appears to be in the middle under the intake. I didn't see anything from the pressure switch. It looks like it's mostly around the pcv valve box. Is there a gasket that leaks there? Or anywhere else that is common to leak? I fixed my transmission pan gasket leak which cleared up some of the mess on the bottom. How hard is it to change that pcv valve box? They call it a crankcase vapor separator where the pcv valve goes.
My '98 B3000 has an oil leak. There is some oil up high on bell housing. So a buddy and I thought it might be the oil pressure sending unit. I replaced it. And still seems to be leaking.
Maybe valve covers? I was thinking rear main until we saw it on the bell housing. Valve covers don't seem to be leaking on the outside. Do they leak worse on the inside of the V?
I've got a 2006 F150 King Ranch with rear power slider that opens but won't close. After looking more closely, the bracket holding the 'close' cable is cracked and the cable end keeps pulling out. Can I just remove the sliding window/bracket and repair the holder with JB Weld or am I looking at replacing the entire back window to enjoy the convenience?

Its my first manual but i got to tinkering and i noticed some oil build up under the front end so i got to looking and found this, wondering if its an issue, should I try to fix whatever is causing it or take it to a mechanic. Looks like between tranny and engine to me.
