All the body bushings have dry rotted away on my 08 Superduty. Are these hard to replace?
I am starting to hear and feel more road noise and rattling when going over bumps or a rough road. U think they would have used polyurethane bushings instead of rubber.

I have a rattling noise coming from the front suspension (both sides) when going over small bumps. Most people point to ball joints, but I find my case odd because I just replaced
Upper/Lower ball joints
Track bar
Tie rod ends
Shocks
Front U joints
Drag link
I did not touch the leaf springs or the sway bar, except to grease the links, which otherwise looked good.
Whenever I go over bumps or a rough piece of road there is a faint rattle coming from the drivers door. It just started doing it about a week ago and its driving me crazy . I am thinking door seal? I've called the dealer and they told me to come in to check it out.
View 7 RepliesI have a 2005 king ranch and have a clunk coming from the back over bumps/heaves in the road. It doesn't happen all the time but often enough. I just replaced the shocks, that worked a little but didn't solve the problem. Now thinking rear sway bar end links? Anything I can check/inspect?
View 1 RepliesI've got a 2WD 2001 F-250 P/S Super Duty that is almost bone stock. The only suspension work done is the addition of air bags which are deflated. Whenever I hit ant bumps it feels like the rear axle is gonna come up through the bed of the truck. I've changed the shocks and there's no change.
Cars and other trucks seem to take the same bumps like a Cadillac.
will go towards saving my marriage since I'm building a house 1/4 mile from a R/R crossing.
Not sure if it's a bearing or some kind of U joint. I am just starting to feel a little clunking in the wheel on a rough road. It is not bad but I feel it, is it hard to fix this issue, and what is the correct part I am looking for. Steering Wheel Bearings? This is for a 08 F350 SRW 4X4 KR V10
View 7 Repliesthe driver/rear suicide door combo is rubbing at the top and thus rattling on bumps. Looks to me like it is actually from the rear door as the gap in the very back is very wide at the top. the driver door gaps look normal along the front. Before I dig into this I wanted to check and find out the best way to approach. Is there an adjustment inside the hinge? the bolts on the jam look solid and have never been adjusted. Perhaps there is a hinge pin in there?
View 9 RepliesLike a lot of our trucks, mine had the tap-tap-tap cab noise while going over bumps. It always sounded like it was coming from the passenger side doors. I have read many solutions, but have never been able to solve my noise issue. But, I may have found it....or more truthfully, my wife.
The other weekend we were out running errands. As she climbed into the cab and shut the door she commented that the handle above the passenger door was getting real loose. She wiggled it to demonstrate.
Tap-tap-tap.
Same noise....... ....I'll be dipped.
Got home, grabbed a socket wrench and tightened the 2 screws. They were like 3 turns loose.
Noise seems to be gone. Time will tell, but if you have"that noise" check the upper passenger grab handle.
My 2013 f350 long bed diesel pickup has a noise in the front end when going over a bump such as a curb at low speed. It will also occur if turning onto a side street that is at a downhill grade. The vehicle has 4000 miles and is just at one year old. The noise sounds like a shock housing scraping on the shock or a very dry and rusty bushing. It also sounds similar to the anti-lock pulsing. I have had it to the dealer twice and they can not find a problem. The noise is very loud and easy to hear. I have gotten under the truck and looked around to see if I can find any evidence of rust and do not. Sometimes if I have my foot on the brake pedal when the noise happens I feel the anti-lock pulsing.

2011 F-250 with 203K miles. Replaced shocks last year. Did this with stock wheels/tires. Something in the front suspension or axles. What should I be looking at?
Noticed this morning that the truck appears to have a screeching/grinding noise while going straight down the road. If I go a bit of speed and stop the engine and exhaust from revving and making noise and just let it roll I can hear it and hear it better by sticking my head out my window. My engine and 5" straight pipe hide it well while im going though. I think its coming from my front driver side but im not 100% exactly sure. What it could be? I know there are a lot of variables to cover but any ways to check things out? Also! I can hear it slightly while reversing slowly.
View 8 RepliesNoticed a rattling sound from the front end of the car when hitting certain types of bumps/rough road. Turns out my right front stabilizer bar needs replacing. Dealer has ordered part, and it's covered under warranty. However, I thought stabilizer bars were supposed to be replaced in pairs. Do I need to ask them to replace both the front right and left, or is just replacing the right ok?
View 9 RepliesI have a 2000 F250 2wd 6spd with a loud banging noise that has been vexing me for quite sometime now. The bang happens when I go over bumps (even small ones like road reflectors) while driving. I don't think it is suspension related since all the ball joints, front/rear swaybar and endlink bushings have been replaced fairly recently. All the springs and bushings also look okay.
The noise seems to come from the rear, and I notice that if I let off the gas when I go over a bump, it does not make a sound. Conversely, if I am accelerating aggressively and hit a bump, the sound is much louder. Also, if I step on the clutch while keeping my foot steady on the gas, it makes a bang. Jumping up and down in the bed while the truck is parked does not recreate the sound. I have already greased the driveshaft spline joint so I'm thinking the sound might be differential or transmission related. What it could be?
What this clunk could be?? in my truck in signature, 2003 F350 CCLB 4x4, 4" lift. its only low speed, on very light bumps. really does it when the truck flexes, like turning into an elevated driveway or something. driving me absolutely insane the last few months. it sounds like its coming from right under my feet
-removed front shocks and drove
-removed front sway bar and drove
-front wheel bearings are new and tight
-front leaf spring, rear upper shackle bushings are new (thought that was problem..no)
-front leaf springs and bushings are new, although i suppose its possible to have a bad bushing already
-removed traction bars and drove
-removed front track bar and drove, but going to try this again.
-all cab mounts look ok
-took out cab mount under drivers foot, and cut down the metal piece a little...read about it on another thread on here. no change
-made sure my gooseneck ball couldn't rattle
-steering box is new...thought that was it
-steering shaft is solid
-transmission mount bushing and crossmember feel tight
-lubed front driveshaft slip joint and it doesn't have any u joint play
-rear shocks seem ok but haven't removed them yet
-fuel tank is solid
-rear driveshaft has new carrier bearing and u joints, all is tight
-exhaust is not hitting anything
-u bolts all tight, spring bolts are tight
As you can see, I've been through damn near everything. my only thoughts right now is a possible bad cab bushing, or bad leaf spring bushing...as it sounds like its right under my feet. and when you flex the truck, it makes all sort of popping and clunking noises. i had the truck on my buddies lift and we went under it for an hour yesterday looking around with no luck. only thing i found was a bad traction bar bushing but we removed them and it still does it..
Most noticeable at the end of the video...it sounds exactly like a bad sway bar bushing but that's not it...

I have 2004 Super Duty with a noise in the front end when I hit bumps or backing out or entering a driveway with a lip. I don't feel anything in the steering wheel but I feel it on the floor board with my feet? Where to begin?
View 3 RepliesMy 2000 f250 7.3 has pretty sloppy steering and noise in the front end when going over bumps. I have replace the drop links, swap bar bushings, both wheel hubs including new seals and the drag link. The rest of the front end seems to be in good shape. I put it up on jack stands and there is some movement in the front end but it seems to all be in the steering box.
Steering box appears to be original with 220k miles. I went to tighten it and it appears the PO did it at least once already. Is it safe to try tightening it again? Does tightening it increase the risk of failure? I'd like to try tightening it first but not at the risk of losing steering at 65mph with my kids in the truck.
I just picked up a 05' F450 Super-Duty it had the rear seat removed and the rear wall, under the window is bare metal. I have all kinds of road noise and dust coming in through the two vents on the back wall. How to fix this?
View 6 RepliesI guess my AC Compressor is about to the bed. AC works good however there is a lot of rattling going on. Been driving it like that for two months plus expecting it to fail.
Just not sure how long I should let it go. If the compressor pully fails on the road I will lose my serpentine belt and the ability to put the spare on and I will be stuck for sure.
2008 F250 XL 5.4L .....
I have a grinding/Rattling noise coming out of the front area of the transmission when the clutch is disengaged (up), noise stops when clutch is pushed in. 99 (6/98) F-350 7.3, manual, 4x4, 192xxx mi. Just came out of the shop with the following done to it:
New Power Force clutch kit, twice.
Transmission Rebuilt twice.
Different rebuilt transmission.
Rear main seal r/r.
After first time in shop the noise was apparent. about 3,000 miles were driven with no change, brought back to shop, where transmission was gone through again as well as a new clutch set, same noise still present! Another transmission was rebuilt and installed, same noise!!!
I bought a 2000 F250 V10 Super Cab. Oddly after a few weeks it has grown on me. There has been a clunking noise out of the right front over bumps. I traced it to a bad axle bearing. The u joint moves up and down about a 1/2 inch. Besides pulling the hub/bearing assembly out and removing the axle are there any surprises getting the old bearing out?
View 1 RepliesI have a 2003 F-250 6.0L 2WD and I recently noticed a rattling thumping noise under the front end on the passenger side. I noticed the rattle shortly after I got new tires, which are a hair bigger than the tires I had on it before. I thought it might be my new tires rubbing since they were bigger but then I noticed the rattle when I had my wheel straight and also when not moving at all. I've been driving it for a couple of weeks now with this rattle and I've been able to determine that it rattles most when I am going downhill and turning to the left putting more of the weight of the truck on the front right suspension components.
After reading several threads my first attempt to find the problem lead me to the discovery of a worn sway bar bushing. I thought this was for sure the problem and replaced both bushings and end links. But the rattle didn't go away. Then I thought maybe it was a bad wheel bearing so I replaced the wheel bearings in both front wheels. Still no change. Lastly, I happened to find a loose ABS line in the front right wheel well that was no longer secured and was banging against plastic. I secured that and still no change. All the bushings seem to be in good shape so I am considering taking it to a mechanic since I don't want to just replace everything hoping that it solves the problem piece by piece.
