I have a delay when I put my truck into gear. It only happens when I have turned the truck back on. It happens in forward as well as reverse. What is causing this? Syncros?
View 8 RepliesOk I am getting a (6R140) transmission behaviour every morning drive or later in the day after the transmission cools down. I am experiencing a 2-3 second delay of engagement when putting truck in Reverse. This happens EVERY time whether transmission is cold or warmed up. I am also having very hard/harsh shift fares going into 3rd gear and 5th gear with the 3rd gear being the worse of the two. Also experiencing these hard/harsh shift when downshifting as well.
I took the truck to my local dealer and I let it sit over night in their lot so they could experience it at its worst after sitting all night. They definitely recognized the issue. But since it wasn't throwing and codes. I find this an unacceptable answer.
I brought to their attention that this issue is well documented online and a lot are having success with performing TSB 11-7-10 (replacing solenoids) They looked it up and said my truck doesn't apply to TSB because of the build date. My window sticker and VIN # implies the truck was built 10-11-2010. Which from my understanding, does fall under the required TSB. None the less, I insisted that I know I'm out of warranty and I will just pay to have this TSB performed. They refused.
What should I do? I know everyday I run my truck with this issue it is decreasing the reliability of this transmission and it will most likely end with a full transmission replacement.
2015 F-250 4X4 CC gas truck. 6R140 Transmission..
My truck has 6500 miles on it and since day one when I put my shifter in (D) there is a 3-4 sec delay in the transmission to engage every morning when I start out, rest of the time there is no delay even when the truck sits all day at work (about 9 hours). I have read in 2011 (?) that the transmission was loosening it's prime and would cause this problem, so how it's got me thinking.
I have a 2001 f250 7.3L. I bought it with 192,000 miles and have driven it to 206,000 in the last 6 months. When I put it in gear, the truck will "bog" down and sometimes die. I will have to refill the transmission fluid every 2 weeks but I can't find where it's leaking.
View 4 RepliesI am new to the site and my 1999 F-350 4x4 7.3 manual. I parked on a hill and noticed the truck would intermittenly roll an inch at a time while in first gear and shut off. The parking brake does need adjusting and/or replacing. I also found a re-call for the p-brake cable that i have an appt. for. What i am not sure of is that the clutch is slipping while parked and needing replaced or what it might be.
View 14 RepliesI have a 1999 Ford F350 5.4L 4x4. I had a check engine code on my truck a couple of months ago. The truck was running fine then. The light went away and I forgot about the issue. In the last week the truck began to run like crap; hesitation during hwy speeds. The truck is running with hesitation in 3rd, 4th, and 5th gear. In low gears the truck seems to run just fine. I have changed the EGR valve as well as the fuel filter. Check engine light is not on but the problem has not gotten any better.
View 3 RepliesMy 2011 F350 has HIDs in it. When I start the truck with the lights off everything is good. But when i put my truck into gear the HIDs start to flicker. (the switch is still in the off position.) If i set the switch to AUTO the minute i start the truck the HIDs start to flicker. The only way I can avoid it is to leave my lights in the on position and let the auto timer kick the lights off when I Park. But it takes a while and I'd honestly rather not leave them on like that.

View 4 RepliesOk so I went mudding this past week, and I put my 997 7.3 truck in 4x4 had fun then took it out of 4 wheel now it won't shift past 2nd gear top speed 35 mph.... It still has all the power revs up Rpms fine but it won't go faster then that.
View 8 RepliesTruck is slipping in/out of gear in 3rd gear. Shut it off and the problem may not come back for several days, but in general it is getting more frequent. No codes are registering for the transmission. Curious the wisdom of performing a simple fluid/filter change vs taking it to the transmission shop. Fluid basically looks/smells good, and is full.
View 14 RepliesIts a 1999 f250sd 5.4l auto. Has code p1747. Truck shudders and almost dies when you drop it in gear, put it back in park idles fine. I have read all the post on here about this and checked wires from trans up to pcm look and test good. Tested plug c1048 wires with digital meter to body ground with battery unhooked and got 6.66k ohms on pin 11 circuit 925, 421 ohms pins 1 and 12. Plugged c1048 back to trans checked 925 w/y wire at plug c103 got 9.1 ohms back to trans. Is the epc solenoid bad or is it pcm. I think its epc but want to verify before i take trans apart.
View 3 RepliesI have a 2012 F-250 ccsb lariat and the shift from 3 to 4 seems to be a bit prolonged as if the converter is slipping and wont go ahead and push it into 4 gear. Also it will want to downshift from 3 to 1 and feels like the car behind nailed you. I have read that the early 2011 had some of this problem and the dealer reflashed the tcm and it did not do much good but as mine being a 2012 mine should have been flashed with the lastest tcm flash from the get go?? Egr fell off and am running Kory Willis tunes through ez lynk so the stealership is probably out of the question. I have also read that changing a couple solenoids( dont remember which ones) will fix the problem.
View 11 RepliesThe tranny is shifting really hard between 2 and 3 if I feather the throttle it can be a little less of a jolt but still enough none the less iv never done a filter and fluid change as I just got it it has 235000 miles 99 v10 super duty 4x4....
View 8 Replies2015 F 250, less then 5k miles. When towing travel trailer, weight 7500lbs, on occasion transmission will not shift out of gear. Happens in first, second, or third. Very intermittent. Take off from a stop engine goes to 6k rpm. Let foot of the throttle goes all the way back to idle, still no shift. Accelerate back up to speed still will not shift. After doing this a couple of times finally shifts. Have had this happen in second and third. Not a lot of fun with cars behind you or trying to merge on highway. No codes
First trip to Ford dealer they re calibrated computer. Still happened towing. Second trip to dealer they put a flight recorder on it and I towed again. Did not hang up in first or second ,but would not shift out of third on highway doing 70mph, even when I lifted from the throttle and coasted. I finally shifted to manual and shifted to fourth and was able to upshift After reading flight recorder mechanic said it appeared normal. I explained that having to shift the transmission manually is not really normal and they agreed.
Drove the wife to work this morning. The turn off into town there was a lady stuck so I pulled over in the drifts. After putting in back in gear I had to get on it to get out of the drifts. Snow was blowing over the windshield, and I imagine throughout the engine bay.
After that it felt like it stayed in 2/3rd gear. I'd hit the pedal and it would redline and sort of accelerate jumping in and out of gears. So i slowed down to a stop. Accelerated slow and it was ok but when I got more on the pedal it would feel like it was slipping. Once I got in the driveway, she idled for about 15 mins while I shoveled out my spot. Once putting in gear again I had to rev it up for it to move.
Also reverse, had to rev it up to move it.
I recently overhauled a 5r110w torqshift in an 03 F350. The trans is acctually an 06 trans. The original problem was that the truck was "tieing up" on take off. When i tore the trans down i found the Low/Reverse clutches were burned bad and welded together. Everything else looked decent. I replaced all the clutches and checked all the clearances, except the OD clutch because i could not find any specs, or a way to adjust it. The trans has been doing good for around 200 miles. Now it has an intermittent problem.
When you first start the truck its like the converter has to fill up. It has a delayed engagement, but only AFTER you shut the truck off. Also, after driving about 10 miles, sometimes it will feel sluggish. I put my Solus Pro on it and while watching the trans data noticed that the transmission is not downshifting all the way int first gear at times. It will down shift, and then try to take off in 3rd and sometimes 5th gear. I was looking thru my ATSG manual and i can see which clutches turn in for 3rd. It seems like a solenoid is sticking on and allowing fluid to "leak" and keep the wrong clutch turned at the wrong time.
When pulling my trailer away from a stop transmission shudders in first gear, feels like t c. Once it changes to 2nd, it clears up. Getting ready to take in for service. Any thoughts? Still under bumper to bumper warrenty. 2008 6.4 auto f 350. 26k miles
View 4 RepliesI have a 2011 F250 with the 6.2 gas engine. I have been having a problem that the dealership says there is nothing they can do and have never heard about.
After the truck sits all night I get in and drive it for 10-15 min. It gets warm and I get out turning it off. When I come back about 15-45 min later I start it up and go to leave. As I pull out and start to accelerate in first gear the truck goes to an idle for about 2-3 seconds. I push the gas pedal and get no response. After a couple of seconds it picks up wherever you have the gas pedal. If you have the pedal to the floor it jumps you forward. This is not putting on any lights and the computer is not throwing any codes. According to the dealership the computer is telling them there is nothing wrong.
This has happened 12 times in the past 6 months. It has happened since I bought the truck. I have just started documenting it as of 6 months ago. It is not something I can make it do on command. After it happens once it doesn't seem to do it again for a week or two. I have 31000 miles on the truck. The dealership has had it for 4 days now and can't seem to get it to happen for them.
I recently had a thread going regarding my 1999 F350 2wd auto transmission slipping in/out gear. Tried to follow up on old thread but got confused so I'm trying to start a new one. Basic problem is that truck was slipping in/out of gear. Cleaned the solenoid pack electrical plug (as instructed on previous thread) and the truck didn't act up for 2 weeks. Today it started slipping in/out again and this time it registered a code of P0705.
View 7 Replies2015 F-250 Super Duty, 6.2 L Gas with 6r140 Transmission. I have 13 K miles on my truck. While pulling my travel trailer up a hill the transmission kicks down thru the gears, which is fine, but as I crest the hill and in 2nd gear, the engine begins to rev up and the speed increases, the transmission will not automatically go into3rd gear. I have tried to let up on the gas pedal, but it remains stuck in 2nd gear. I have to shift to "Manual" and then put it in 3rd gear. Then it shifts up as it should. I have tried with the transmission in "TOW' and not in "TOW". I have even tried it in "Cruise Control".
View 3 RepliesI have a 1999 ford f250 5.4 2 wheel drive i believe its a 4r100 transmission. auto. I have reverse but no forward gears. Ive heard this is a common problem , and on my reverse it has to hit 3000 rpm before it even tries to move and D 1 2 i have nothing only thing i hear is the engine sound changes gets deeper. Do i need a whole new transmission or is this fixable.
