The bolts or screws on the inside front of the doors may need to be retightened. Mine have loosened over time. Just wondering if this maybe a possible cause of rattles or squeaks in the doors others here have experienced. My door shell appeared to be sticking out a bit and it could be pressed in, so I fished around for a cause and fixed it.

Usually comes out on uneven roads or after going through a road where the chassis/body gets twisted a bit. I live in the mountains so the roads here are really twisty and has all those weird angles.
View 14 RepliesMy driver and my driver side passenger (slightly) door squeaks when I open and close it. I know it has to do with the door checks. The black plastic thing that holds the door open 1/4 or 1/2 way. I don't want to try something that might not fix it like greasing it. I don't want a glob of grease on there and it still squeaks. Is there a way to adjust it?
View 8 Repliesthe driver/rear suicide door combo is rubbing at the top and thus rattling on bumps. Looks to me like it is actually from the rear door as the gap in the very back is very wide at the top. the driver door gaps look normal along the front. Before I dig into this I wanted to check and find out the best way to approach. Is there an adjustment inside the hinge? the bolts on the jam look solid and have never been adjusted. Perhaps there is a hinge pin in there?

View 1 RepliesI have been cruising vortex for the last month and finally pulled the trigger on a low mileage Red R32. I am quite excited and love driving the car around.
First, when my sunroof is fully open there is a great deal of reverberation at speeds of 30mph plus. In fact you can feel the whole headliner vibrate. However, if I push the sunroof wind deflector down just a small amount everything is just fine. Is there some adjustment to that wind deflector?
Second, when I test drove the car at first the car started up normally with no unusual noises, but since I actually purchased the car, the car makes several squeaks while the motor is turning over. The dealer tells me this is normal. I took the car in because of the squeak and they found a bad water pump bearing cause they heard some other noises with the engine idling, but that the squeak upon startup is normal operation. That doesn't make sense to me.
A little background: My 2015 DSG is just shy of 40k miles. I have recently the DSG fluid hoping it would fix my issue. I also have a DSG tune, but the problem has been around well before the tune.
So here's the intermittent issue.
When I leave a corner or from a stop, the DSG tries racing toward 6th as quick as it can and even with my pedal beyond the 50% margin. When it does and my window is down, I can hear a slight squeak when it shifts, and you can feel the hard engagement of the gear. What the issue could be or what could be causing the squeak? I also get a slight vibration under WOT in 5th and 6th at low RPM's. I am thinking its either the mechatronics unit or the clutch packs that are prematurely wearing out.
Just on my way home during the last few turns down the underground parking, I found the steering wheel column making some squeak noise. Is there anything I should check before bringing it back to the dealership?
View 6 RepliesHaving squeaks coming from their window seal between the glass and the seal? I mean, it can get really bad... I have to roll my windows down a touch and then it's a smooth, quiet ride. I was going to try and drag a small amount of some kind of lube around the seal soon.

The right rear door on my X is rattling when I hit a bump. The door is not closing tight enough. I can reproduce the noise by just pushing on the door. I don't see any adjustments that I can make.

My RX 350 is 5 months old, 8000 miles. It has developed very annoying rattling noises under the rear seat and, sometimes, rear door panels.
View 1 RepliesI have had a rattle in my driver's side door since I picked up my car that was driving me crazy so when I took my ES300h into local Lexus dealer (Cool Springs in Franklin, TN) for my 1000 mile checkup, I asked them to fix it. As has happened to numerous others on the forum, they couldn't hear the rattle and did nothing.
When I got the car home, my wife and I went for a ride with her sitting behind me. We figured out it was the window rattling. When we moved the window down just slightly, so it's still sealed, the rattle went away.
When I turned off the car a light came on for open window but it still locked.
So I brought my car in to an audio video place to have hush mat in the front doors to prevent a rattle noise from my bass. Turns out the rattle is coming from the window switches.
View 2 RepliesI am quite displeased with the creaking and rattling noises I keep getting from my 2012 3.6 Premium's door panels and dash. I have already had these looked at by a dealership multiple times in the last year or so. Each time they "fix" it, the noises go away for some weeks and always keep coming back in one form or another.
I have an appointment with a different dealership this week. I hope they will be able to fix this for good. However, the noises have really spoiled the experience of this car. I wonder if all Passat's suffer from this issue. Just wanted to vent, don't know how else to let it out of my system
After traveling on the prehistoric roads (99% of the roads) in DC that have not been maintained since the Stone Age, the front passenger door is rattling (or something in it/within the vicinity) at only 3000miles. It looks like this happened after I started driving on the beltway. The beltway has less potholes than the prehistoric roads BUT on the beltway, you'd be hitting those potholes at 65mph.

I took a 64 mile round trip drive yesterday with the audio between 16-22 volume and there's definite rattling coming from the right passenger side door.
This was through the Satellite Radio Feed. It wasn't all the songs but any songs with the extended drawn out bass you can here it rattle.
I'm about 115 miles in and will most likely take it in this week. There's nothing in the side door compartment...
